I've only watched 2 of those, and I got to say I'm not sure how much Trigun belongs on that list. depends on your target audience, because, while I love it, there are definitely things about it to dislike. Vash is a pretty severe creep when he isn't in gunfighter or hippie mode, and that could easily be a turn off to someone watching it for the first time. Cowboy Bebop cannot be argued with though. I'd also add FLCL to the list - a show I absolutely loved from teh start even though it took like 2 or 3 complete watches to figure out what the heck was going on.

I mean, its Heart should be more or less universal with a big enough spike isn't it? so you could probably do it with just one, if it is doable.

seconded. Star Wars got it pretty wrong. Asteroid Belts generally look less like a minefield of rocks and more like a slightly less empty expanse of space. and worst case scenario, if you are moving fast enough for interstellar travel, you can probably move out of the plane of the asteroid belt then back in to get to the planet you are aiming at. 3 dimensional travel is eaiser in space than on a planet.

That would be difficult, but not necessarily impossible, depending on the shard. Picking up a shard requires some level of existing connection to it. Sazed had a connection to both preservation and ruin, so he was able to pick up those shards. on the other hand, secret history spoiler ahread: point being it isn't as simple as just being in the right place at the right time. I personally suspect that if it were the right shard he might be able to do it, but i am not 100% sure of that, and it certainly wouldn't work for just any one.

I honestly have dropped to just watching Legends. I got sick of most of the others. If Flash would fully revert back to how it was in season 1 and the beginnign of season 2, I could be persuaded to add that back in, but barrign that Legends is the only one that seems to be having any fun anymore.

I'm not good at searching WoBs, so I won't be able to find my source for this, but we do know that Vasher at least had been to Roshar before creatign Nightblood. Nightblood was he and Shashara tryign to create somethign like a Shardblade.

i'll reasses when i get to it, but I recall it being slow going. though by that point it could just be that I was burned out on reading the ~10,000 pages of the series

just started on Dust of Dreams in my Malazan reread. Pretty sure the last 3 books took me longer than the first 7 the 1st time I read through it, and it is looking like it will be the same this time. I like the series, especially the earlier books, and these last few books have their moments, but overall I find them to be a slog.

I doubt we have anything definitive on that, but given that a gold compounder can heal from dynamite and a returned breath heals so well that it restored the power of speech to someone who would never have been able to develop it in the first place, I'd say the answer is yes.

Can't speak for everyone, obviously, but the actual sci-fi aspects in these seemed particularly weird to me. Everything about the Sophons, for instance

Yes, but it varies by system. The metallic arts can be used on other worlds without any tweaks at all. you can even use non-scadrian metals, as long as they are the right purity/mixtures. Awakening, likewise has no restriction, but you have to bring the breath with you, as non-nalthians are not born with a breath. Surgebinding is harder, because it is apparently difficult to take spren offworld, but if you can manage that, then it can be used, though it is an open question whether other forms of investiture can fuel it beyond stormlight. the Selish magics are probably the hardest, given their ties to locations on Sel. it is difficult to get them to function on another continent, let alone another world, though probably not impossible.

this one is probably too specific. it would work in mistnorn, but get you killed in Shadows for Silence

What are you playing right now?
Dunkum replied to Link Von Kelsier Harvey's topic in Entertainment Discussion
been plaing Path of Exile, which is a free to play Diablo II clone on Steam. Given that "Free" and "Diablo II clone" were exactly what I was looking for when I found it, I have been enjoying it. -
that series gets really weird pretty fast, but it was definitely interesting.

I did a quick once over of it, and this thread too. Some of my own thoughts have been said earlier and better by others, but for a couple that I didn't see much of: - I'm not 100% sure of the angelic narrator. Its a bit hard to say, with just the little bit available. He could work, though as a rule I think he should be pretty limited, maybe only to the beginning and end of the play, or at most the beginning and end of an act. that said it is a touch that feels a bit archaic. that isn't intended as criticism or praise, just my impression. whether it is good or bad really depends on the vibe you are going for. much of the language you use is pretty formal, which also tends to lend an archaic feel (approriate perhaps, for a reinterpretation of a bible story) so I tend to think it works OK in concert with that, provided that is the sort of feeling you wanted to evince. - I felt there were a few too many asides. my gut says they should be used sparingly, to flesh out the characterization of a character, but that most of the time you should rely on stage direction and your hypothetical actors' abilities to convey the correct emotion - though I'm not certain, I don't recall seeing much of that sort of stage direction in the plays I had to read in school, so I am not really sure what the normal practice is for that. We don't need to hear every instance of Haman's inner rants against perceived injustices. it is sufficient to see one or two long ones and let the shorter ones stand as direction to the actors, maybe. so that is my two cents' worth. but do take it with a grain or two of salt. my degree is in math, and plays were about my second least favorite part of Literature classes (after most poetry), so I am pretty far from an expert at this sort of thing.

I liked Korra, but definitely if you didn't like her character, then that would throw off the whole show for you.

i'm curious did you watch all 4 seasons? becuase there are definite problems in season 1 and season 2 is pretty terrible, but I felt that season 3 was fantastic, and season 4 was solid (though with too much focus on the stupid mech suits - they don't make for nearly as interesting combat as bending does)

Pewter Drag/Stormlight Drag Similar effects possible?
Dunkum replied to KalaDANG's question in Cosmere Q&A
I wouldn't count it out, but it would probably be a lot less severe. Pewter enhances the body's resilience and healing somewhat, but Stormlight healing looks more like Ferruchemical gold than like Allomantic pewter, so it would almost certainly do a better job of healing the body form the adverse effects of maintaining that sort of burn. -
yes, but it isn't like inquisitors die all that often, even in HoA. they made them pretty hard to kill. also spikes lose power the longer they are outside of a body, so fresh spikes are going to be stronger.

a friend of mine had a deck that contained a bunch of rare artifacts and enchantments, so I threw together an otherwise terrible deck full of disenchants and the like that completely shut him down. my deck was garbage against anyone else, but it stopped him in his tracks.

Can Surgebinding be sensed, even by those who aren't Surgebinders?
Dunkum replied to KalaDANG's question in Cosmere Q&A
not surprised, though I'd love to see a more extensive breakdown on the kinds of things that it would be able to stop. and what would be harder vs easier, and what would pobably require some hemalurgic or ferruchemic enhancement to stop etc. -
Presumably this variation is somewhat due to the availability of ferruchemists to spike the powers out of. if they can't find 2 ferruchemists, then they have pick 1 ferruchemical ability to use. some get gold, others get other powers

Can Surgebinding be sensed, even by those who aren't Surgebinders?
Dunkum replied to KalaDANG's question in Cosmere Q&A
now just consider whther copper extends to other magic systems the same way bronze does As other have noted Bronze Allomancy can detect surgebinding. it may also be possible to detect it somewhat with the enhanced lifesense from having a lot of breaths. you can also use the sands from white sand: uncharged sand will absorb pretty much any kind of investiture nearby, so if your sands turn from black to white, it means there is something going on. the Aon Dar almost certainly has an aon that can do this as well. -
I think the general opinion is that he was able to detect her lightweaving, and was surprised by it, possibly because of her age.

160. however if you are a big individual wearing armor and the person you bump into and yell at is completely nonchalant about it (and not intoxicated) then they are probably some sort of super martial artist and/or magic user, and you are about to get you butt kicked.
