My wallet is hating this
-
I just got into it, got 9 small Scum and Villiany ships used for 40 dollars. That's a deal! You will have to budget a bit if you are planning on building two squadrons at once. I've heard good things about the A-Wing for rebels and Disputers for Imperials. Also, if you haven't all ready, get a second core set (there are two "types", so just get the one you don't have! You can usually get it for 20 bucks on Amazon, also)

[OB] Full Book Reactions / Full Spoilers Thread
Orlion Blight replied to Chaos's topic in Stormlight Archive
Overall, I liked it. The slow parts were necessary to make the Voidbringer revelation believable and impactful. A lot of what you think about this book will depend on how much of a payoff you think this is. The book's strength is its weakness. Namely, the worldbuilding. If you love it, this book will probably be the greatest Archive book for you. It does slow down everything else, though. Other random thoughts: -Odium is essentially a more hands on version of Lord Foul the Despiser from the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. I still don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. -I liked the Shallan and Moash storylines. - The scene where Dalinar meets baby Adolin for the first time was terrible/handled badly. It seemed more like Brandon inserting himself into the story instead of Dalinar having an experience. Like for a brief moment, Dalinar was replaced by Brandon who just wanted to say, "I love my children, and you may not believe me now, but children are a blessing. " Keep that in your acknowledgment/dedications, Brandon! There are a couple other moments like this... few, but very jarring when it happens. -
Finished Oathbringer. Now, onto The Cosmology of the Wider World by Jeffery Ford.

Throw them in the garbage. Or, you want to see if you have cards that are currently playable. Because of rotation schedules and ban/limit lists, you might have ended up with a bunch of "collector items", which most people don't want since what's important is playing the game. And that's fairly pricey as is.

We may have to commiserate. I believe I like it waaaaay more than you did, but am also not nearly as enamoured as other people are. My friend is breezing through them back-to-back. It will be interesting to see what he thinks since he hasn't read any other Sanderson books.

I would say we at least get White Sand next year... but who would I be kidding? This is Dynamite we are talking about! -
Just skip Kharkanus for now. Steven has decided that he is setting the last book on the backburner, and frankly I don't think there is a guarantee that he will finish the series at all, let alone in a reasonable time frame.

I think the prequel Star Wars movies had better dialogue than The Last Jedi. -
Bing Crosby is the worst. If our ancestors had literally anyone else to listen to on the radio, he would not be a thing. But noooo, those dum dums had to let him monopolize the airwaves!

Random Stuff X: Something Weird

Hooray! I was mostly good after a day. My brother needed a couple more days. My sister had recurring dry sockets for months afterwards. Chances are, if you follow procedure, you'll be fine. Horror stories of wisdom teeth removal are memorable, but not indicative that you will have issues. Heck, my sister was still able to do flag core, piano playing and family activities during her ordeals. You may have to avoid certain foods like nuts and such, but you can still have some tasty foods, I bet! I would only recommend taking smaller bites and care where in your mouth you are chewing. -
Franklin Richards is ridiculous, but he is also a child. Let's not forget he didn't even try to stop God Emperor Doom who had the power of the Molecule Man behind him. The Molecule Man is basically Dr Manhattan, so I think that a grown Dr Manhattan could easily take a child Franklin Richards. Really, setting aside the Infinity Gauntlet, the Molecule Man and Beyonder are potentially the only ones that could stand against Dr Manhattan.

And Marvel just announced World War Hulk 2. I stuck my neck out for you, Marvel! And you betray me... like this?!

Look at Mestiv with his programmer's money! Able to afford a physical AND electronic copy! Well, your blood money can't buy you the dignity of the working class! And when we stand up, United, we shall never be divided! We shall march until we have seized the means of production! *Russian Anthem plays in the background*

Oh, DC has the better TV shows, but better garbage is still garbage I can't get into the Netflix shows, and it seems like Agents of Shield and Inhumans aren't even trying! I loved Secret Empire. It was the best Marvel event since Infinity Gauntlet. And the third best event! And they had to throw it all away with this Legacy garbage. I don't much care for most of the DC comics. The writing is waaay too clunky. Metal is self important/indulgent try-way-too-hard. And Doomsday Clock? Don't get me started on that! The first issue was just fantastically amazing and may turn out to be the best thing DC has done since Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run! (I'm being silly with that, but you get the idea) I actually think Vertigo might be better than DC right now, just with Wild Storm alone!

The TV shows from both are just awful. Marvel has better movies and comics. DC may have done some classics, but that also means they have not done much of note in about a couple decades.

Frank Sinatra is overrated. It was nice that he provided folks a different singer to listen to other than Bing Crosby, but that was decades ago. It's time to let them rest in the history books with their uninspiring music, favorite whiskey and poor fashion choices. -
Awww, she wanted you to have the book! Right now, it is only in hardcover in the US. It'll come out in paperback in about a year.
