I don't agree on Yumi's magic. Hoid implies that what she can get spirits to create is more to it then what they use on the planet. While its similar to fabrial, only so far of it being the creation of magic items. I feel there is more upperlimit to it then what we see.

Yes, people need to remember all are info about wisdom and survival was before the RoW shard dump. There is no reason it can't apply to one of those revealed

SP3 link to roshar, is this Hoid?
iceblade44 replied to Thaidakar the Ghostblood's topic in Cosmere Discussion
While talking, Hoid uses the plural you in a sentence thus the implication that he is telling the story to a group, thus you can probably infer a hotpot of people from many planets -
SP3 - A particular line: "... close to where [redacted redacted]".

Same, like all the stuff he implied with the wisdom/survival shard was before the RoW dump. Given its reactions that be my vote -
Some Cosmere Tidbits from the SP#2 Spoiler Stream
iceblade44 replied to iceblade44's topic in Cosmere Discussion
No he wrote White Sand when he was in college. That was the first novel he ever wrote. From the impression I got, he had tried to write stories before but none of them were on the level of books -
Just some very neat things that were mentioned. 1. The readings on SP#3 and #4 are gonna be over 2 hours long, be prepared for that. 2. SP#4 is a book that he wanted to write, but it isn't one that he has mentioned before. Thus Silence Divine is out. It is very loosely based on the first Cosmere story he told after writing proto-dragonsteel as a teenager. Apparently I've heard that the story he wrote after dragonsteel was the Kite story so maybe its that? I'm not really that clear on what he wrote before trying to do actual novels. 3. We got details on the secret standalone cosmere novel, mentioned in the State of Sanderson 2019 and 2020. That book is none of the books thats on the kickstarter. Projected to be 200k-300k words, set in the future era of the Cosmere and is more "Beastly" and "Epic" from his usual fair.

And? That doesn't really tell us much. All the Shards have a similar relationship so its unclear whether the Evil was made by Adonalsium or by Ambition, since it is technically the same

Brandon reading from Secret Project #1

Isn't them coming from Sel just speculation for now though? Or is that what your trying to say? -
Livestream Info: Planet and Magic
iceblade44 replied to Pagerunner's topic in Tress of the Emerald Sea
The Sleepless does a bit, the Dragons not so much. The thing is that since Adonalsium is at the beginning at all of this it tightens the feel. Adonalsium's designs are unknowable but its a different type of unknowable to be found with something potentially disconnected. Those are my feelings anyway -
Livestream Info: Planet and Magic

I do find that tidbit very cool. One thing is it adds this alien element to the Cosmere. Even if the universe has nonhuman species like the Singers, those feel more like they fill the role of fantasy races rather then that of extraterrestrial outsiders. Even if the fact isn't true, from how Brandon worded it i don't think he will ever answer if they are or aren't. Which just opens the doors wide open for speculation. -
Livestream Info: Planet and Magic

The lore dump was so good. Though with the relavations of 1) the reactions of the spores are all different and produce different things. And 2) that with the explanation of what abilties the Aethers give, of being able to grow more of the Aethers. It makes me wonder if Brandon decided to focus down on the Aether's capabilities. Given in AoN they could do stuff like teleportation, machine-bonding, and animal grafting. I guess we learn more with Tress once we see more of the seas and their effects. That is my hope anyway. -
aether Reguarding the Aethers [AoN spoilers]
iceblade44 replied to Frustration's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Could be a slip up, but still an interesting tidbit. Along with getting confirmation that how Aethers worked in AoN, people bonding themselves to a gem, it grafting itself to the hand and then producing stuff from the crystal is how the Aethers still functions as a magic system. Though that brings to question the Aethers where you became a living machine or being able to graft beast parts to yourself since, that is not how those Aethers worked given Brandon's synopsis. Would those be the ones Brandon has stated on being scraped in possible favor of a more streamline process like how Verdant and Amberlite worked? -
Possible questions for next Tuesday's Q&A

Anyone know how he will receive questions on YouTube, will it be donation based or does Adam pick out questions that are racing through the chat? -
Brandon reading from Secret Project #1
iceblade44 replied to Honorless's topic in Tress of the Emerald Sea
The Ire and Iri connection feels to forced. The Iriali maybe being the first people of the city Elantris, that's an interesting speculation. But using the Ire to support that doesn't work because 1)we know that the book Elantris is set before First Empire. 2) thus that means the Ire outpost is likely a construction after Elantris was reformed, not the predecessors -
Secret Project #1: Everything we Know About the Magic

Cognitive Anomaly, that's something I'm not familiar with. Is that mentioned in the Nalthis Ars Arcanum Essay they said they wanted to do? If so what be a good place to read it? -
In the stream, Brandon was upfront that book 1 and 3 had similar plots. Since I think having the assumption that there is only one romance is flawed, instead that thinking both are romances. Id direct you attention to the stream(in 3 parts) itself if you wish to know more

Also something to question, does the eruption of vines happens to all spores or just Verdant. If so, what happens when the other spores get wet.
-
You can definitely get Hoids sarcasm from these lol
-
Either its A) Hoid glossing over things or 2.) there are bodies of water on the planet outside of the 12 oceans. Given how this planet has trees and wood, water must exist in more then just in wells and people
-
This is pretty much confirmed by the endnotes. A story told by Hoid, with the implications of it being on a planet that has oceans of water, various earth animals and food. So it narrows it down but not enough given how much of the Cosmere we are unaware of
-
Definitely set up with magic. Though if this was one of the planets Adonalsium set up, unsure how much of the magic still exists to maintain it.

Arcanist implications of the first chapters of SP#1
iceblade44 replied to Oltux72's topic in Tress of the Emerald Sea
We knew for a while that Brandon has made new Aethers. If the 12 moons and 12 seas all relate to an Aether, that be very interesting. Ignoring the old set. Right now we have 5 colors. Emerald, Azure, Crimson, Gold, and Midnight(likely black.) Heres hoping we get fleshing out of all of the colors though that ain't realistic. Since this seems more about introducing Aethers, then full diving into their possibilities
