  1. I agree with you and this theory, I have a list of questions I want to eventually get through, either at signings or in autographed books from his site, and felt is one of those questions.
  2. This is my theory as well! In fact I have a whole thread on it! I think the argument for autonomy in a strong one and I concede that it very well may be him, I still believe it is Odium that sent the new metal spike to Scadrial. But again, it's all just theory, and we're likely to get a RAFO on any question lol
  3. I think it would probably have more to do with someone being chosen as a shard holder than the shares being splintered. But like stormgate said, we need more WoB on this
  4. You both make very good points, and I like the comparison of electricity and the different realms. By using investiture you are essentially plugging into and drawing energy from the different realms. Now I agree this comparison doesn't necessarily work for all of the magic systems. But I also agree that in the Cosmere, what we consider magic, they can recreate scientifically, at least that's what we're being led to believe by the creation of fabrials and mistfabrials.
  5. Ohhhhhh the lolz, that deserved an upvote!
  6. It definitely should, I look forward to him diving into that when we approach the more futuristic novels
  7. I didn't think he was at the Pits but I couldn't remember. I wouldn't have put it past Straff though, it's something he would do.
  8. That is an awesome idea! It would let him explain a lot of different things with Feruchemy. I don't think he'd call it the Higgs Boson Particle though, he'll probably develop some name linked to Scadrial that is a mirror image of the Higgs Boson
  9. That's kind of my thought process in my SoS metal theory thread. Odium, or Autonomy anyway.
  10. Thank you, where in the first trilogy is that? I'm currently rereading it but I haven't come across that yet. And that is an interesting point about nightblood. I wonder if they're linked somehow? Since nightblood does "ruin" investiture in a way.
  11. Which would have to be a change in his body chemistry to support the added weight, it must do something to the body because their size doesn't increase when they increase weight if memory serves me correctly. So I would think if his compensates strength for added weight, it must also compensate for reducing weight.
  12. I would still think Wax's muscles would atrophy, at least to am extent. But Feruchemy also changes the users body chemistry so their body can withstand the changes correct? Or else wouldn't increasing their weight to an absurd degree, as we've seen Wax do, eventually crush your organs and skeletal system under the sheer density of your body?
  13. That's awesome! Thank you for the explanation! So I have a question about Zane now, why was he spiked? Did Straff spike him for some reason, trying to make him stronger? Or do we not know?
  14. Good point, I was thinking solely magic based. I actually want aware you could simply steal someone's strength or intelligence, very interesting. I have some reading to do lol
  15. I doubt Brandon would use the same name for similar characters in different series.... What if Felt is our WalDo?!
  16. She would talk circles around him lol
  17. Oh man, can you imagine if Ham and Jasnah got into a debate? Lol that would be interesting for sure.
  18. I also think metal is necessary, because sure, on Roshar gemstone spikes could be possible, but what would the spikes be made of on Nalthis or Sel? Or what about a world without a shard, like Threnody? You may say why spike someone on a world with no shard, but we don't know for sure there'd be no gain in doing so, right?
  19. Would that weaken his investiture on the planet if his invested body left Scadrial? That could open the door for another shard to move against him.
  20. I'm not just talking about killing random people who try to assassinate him or something, I'm talking lounge if in order to stop Rayse and his armies Hoid needs to join the fight, I think he would if it was the only way to reach his greater goal. It's just my opinion, but I don't think Hoid is above killing if he absolutely has to. Avoiding it, and refusing to do it are very different things.
  21. Up to this point he has avoided killing but I think he would of it meant reaching his goal, it may sadden him to do so, but he will do it. Just remember this quote. "And while I am your friend, please understand that our goals do not completely align. You must not trust yourself with me. If I have to watch this world crumble and burn to get what I need, I will do so. With tears, yes, but I would let it happen." Maybe I read too much into this, but I don't think so.
  22. I wonder how you could steal the ability to produce Aons, or any other magic, could you use the same bind points used to make an inquisitor? Our would you need to discover new bind points?
  23. Perhaps not destroy, but I'm sure it will drastically weaken. On a side note, does anyone else want to see Hoid fight on Roshar and user Allomancy and/or Feruchemy? I think the reactions would be hilariously awesome if he slaughters a group of assassins with a coin or pewter enhanced strength or something.
