On a rather different note, more and more I am agreeing with Wax that Harms was a fool. Stalling for backup or evacuation is one of the most useful powers you can ask for in a firefight. Marasi has saved lives twice with it now. It's not directly comparable to bendalloy in application, because while it is suicidal to use it on just yourself, the point of cadmium bubble having a superior effective radius is almost certainly intended to be used to drag as many people into the effects with you as possible, unlike bendalloy where a smaller isolated area of effect is preferred when trying to fight large groups.

I might be a naturally cynical person, but whether any of the metalminds can even do that has been the first problem to work out for this particular theory for as long as it has existed (which it has for a good while now). Nicrosil being an enticing candidate, but we'd all like to know what that actually does, I'm sure. It'd be strange for feruchemy, as a complete power originally, to contain an ability that is just shy of useless with just feruchemy alone. I don't recall much mention of difficulty in terms of storing inside a spike as a metalmind. I believe a certain Inquisitor claims to do that in HoA anyway. I would imagine though, since the spike is invested, that the total capacity of the spike might be less than a normal metalmind of identical volume. A sword has been known to work, in the same book. At least one person involved in any spiking procedure, however, must actually intend to utilize hemalurgy, meaning it won't work if you were not meaning to do it or did not know the art existed in the first place, even if you do somehow hit a bind point by sheer luck.

I don't believe the world ended in the 17th century and had to be rebuilt by a population small enough to barely fill out a town or two into a sprawling metropolis in 300 years either, but I'm not really the social sciences type, so meh. The entire geography changes, the plants are completely different, no Mist everywhere, no other people to trade with to speak of, and all that probably kept them alive was some caves full of stuff, impossibly fertile land all over the region, and a stack of books penned by God with information on almost everything.

It would've happened no matter what, but this seems a lot sooner than would've been possible without Sazed's help. I think Tellingdwar's point was that Sazed is learning the hard way that progress is not better than stagnation in all aspect. I believe Brandon does actually realize this. I recall a WoB saying that the most similar intent to Cultivation is Ruin. We're seeing exactly that here. As progress is being made in the heart of civilization, the rest of the more dated world is abandoned to rot because they only get in the way.

I'm here why I have someone telling me I'm missing the point that storing rate is irrelevant when I'm the one telling someone to not underestimate how much you can pour into a brassmind in short periods of time. And again, practical limitations being amount of brass and burn rate. A nicroburst might help, but some care should be exercised to not burn him . . .

I'm not sure why you're limiting the storing rate so much when Miles implies you only need to compound on occasion to have so much of a trait to store that you can tap to impressive levels nonstop (that man can detonate dynamite in his own hand or shoot himself in the face with a shotgun and be fine) for ages and still have charge to spare. You're also placing arbitrary limits on tapping rate. By your amount of heat, you can hit that million times higher temperature if you just empty out in a millionth of the duration. Whether that is long enough to actually kill anything, idk. Not an expert on extinction events. But I'm finding it strange that you're limiting both factors where the very absence of a hard limit is the main advantage feruchemy has over allomancy. Or why we are measuring investiture (which is what would be in the metal, not the energy itself) in megawatts.
