  1. And yet they apparently have fully developed politics in the cognitive and appear to be prearranging which spren gets sent to who (as Wyndle suggests). They're definitely sentient prior to gaining physical presence.
  2. Ruin will be entropy and destructive change, in all honesty, while "positive" change and progress is more Cultivation's domain. Swapping them will indeed pin Preservation as the antagonistic side of the dynamic, but I doubt Ati could've improved his position even if he tried. His is a force that ultimately breaks down everything even if he builds things up as part of the process.
  3. So moving planets, reshaping landscapes, or genetically modifying all microorganisms on the planet to process ash is child's play for a shard . . . but you need to be in a specific place in the galaxy to turn your energies into solid metal? Sounds really counterintuitive.
  4. Rusts, compounding has nothing to do with that inherently either. A normal gold ferring can achieve this with enough storage of health and tapping at massive quantities quickly as they are shot in the face. It's just not as feasible for a ferring to have that much health saved up compared to a gold compounder twinborn. As long as enough of the brain is left to maintain the compounding and they aren't instantly dead from something like a shardblade they should still be able to heal (and even then if fast enough external sources of healing like regrowth can save you from shardblade death, if you can get yourself someone so kind. No metallic art we know could do it though).
  5. I think spren politicians in Shadesmar homes everywhere who wouldn't dream of entering the physical to be killed by some backstabbing surgebinder would want to have a word with you.
  6. I'm sure adding start and end quote tags in the middle of a quote would work. Probably.
  7. Tin savants probably feel it, it's just as numb as everything else. Spook could still sorta navigate so it's not complete sensory deprivation.
  8. Preservation made atium mistings a thing and set up the mists to snap those mistings instead of cadmium/bendalloy. The metals replaced would obviously still work if you do somehow burn it . . .
  9. The plausibility of conception in one week is a moot point here, since it clearly happened already and there'd be no way to inherit the divine breath fragment otherwise.
  10. To be fair, people good at dismantling the system would make good consultants for advice. Definitely not for running the place though, indeed.
  11. Which raises the age old question. Just who or what was it that built Aon Rao and the Shaod system into Elantris?
  12. Considering how their morphing is advanced enough to be able to pick locks with their skin I'm sure they can get pretty creative when it comes to the morphology of breathing apparati. Actually, how do earthworms breathe?
  13. DNA definitely can't lie. Whether there can be multiple matches to the surviving portion of the sample or whether the guy is actually guilty is a different matter. But it can't BS you, it must match the person in actuality.
  14. Well Tekiel already existed, as did presumably Ladrian as Breeze was pure blooded (noble spouse too). Beldre was raised in nobility too IIRC, though presumably if Spook's children didn't take new names immediately to start their own houses they'd probably take their father's . . . whatever Lestibournes came up with. I'm sure starting new houses is possible too, but as I understand it everyone in nobility right now still has noble blood. With how big of a deal in progressiveness Aradel was they most definitely have kept track.
  15. They don't necessarily have to have ever made contact or dealt with the projectile though. Hell you can probably stand on the other side of a wooden wall and force the nails or chunks of wall to smash into them with enough force while smoking a pipe with your hands in your pockets. Also, would it be possible to accuse for use of emotional allomancy to cause disorientation leading to unplanned suicide or accidents?
  16. Well being a steel chromium twinborn in habit of storing a lot will get you convicted quickly Actually sounds like the perfect environment for some Phoenix Wright level chull dung logic though.
  17. There was very little actual atium in them. No idea what the rest of the bands was made of.
  18. . . . and that's why that mistborn serial killer plotline we're apparently getting kind of scares me.
  19. With interludes depicting Wayne on a trading spree across town on his quest of global drunkenness.
  20. I think you're looking for sapience. Because Stick is clearly a sentient being. But we're talking about investiture gaining sapience on its own anyway, so whether it had any before feels moot.
  21. Wayne's cognitive shadow defied relativity using his anti-logic charm to go to Roshar in the past and get the whole world drunk? But yeah, getting drunk at a party is pretty normal behavior.
  22. So I'm not the only one who sees blue and gold for that dress! Weirdos insisting it's white and gold or blue and black . . .
  23. Everything has a soul silly. Even sticks
  24. Best of all, MeLaan can probably offer tips from both perspectives if she ever tried to experiment with this stuff. *cough*
  25. People who call Steris dull do that because she deals with too many things that are often considered dull. The reason is she is actually interesting as a person is because of the near insane degree of obsessive passion she puts into things so dull you'd normally forget they are a thing.
