  1. I just tried to copy paste an image from the Coppermind to the 17th Shard (Aon Edo, specifically), except when I tried to post, it said "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community". It appears to be a .svg file, having just looked it up. Is there any reason it might not be permitted? (I assume there's a perfectly valid reason for this, in which case, we should probably swap the Aon Images from svg to jpg.)
  2. Do we have comfirmation about the Hangul thing? Or is that a guess. I've never heard that before. I know he lived in Korea as a missionary for a while, and it is quite possible he was subconsciously influenced, but I've never read anything that mentioned his source of inspiration. Major Elantris Spoilers:
  3. 8186=Shard Please Note: I have been updating this as I see it.
  4. Also, they could be conscripted. They wouldn't dare run away, as they would get hunted down by the damane, so they follow orders and hope for the best.
  5. 6 exams and 4 concerts done (in 4 days!). Barring one exam on Monday, I now have heaps of time to dedicate to Diaemus (well, my NaNoWriMo project as well. But that's fine. They can share.)
  6. Vasher - he can destroy stuff without first waiting a week.
  7. That's seems to be a common theme for most of us. Good of you to join us.
  8. Uhhh... Personally, I think the person named 'Hoid' struck me as slightly suspicious. Don't know why... Also, worldhoppers tend to be people who can be there one day and not the next and not be noticed, e.g. a beggar. I think he's too ingrained into society to be a worldhopper.
  9. I'd give Soothing or Rioting powers to Peter so he can encourage Brandon whenever he's trying to get through a difficult chapter. (Technically, that's still inside the rules...) In reality, I'd probably give all the mods Allomantic Steel so they can destroy spambots easier.
  10. I've got a very unusual world in my head, and I'm trying to think about how it might work. It's sort of a cross between Venice and super sped up continental drift. Basically, there are a heap of islands (not sure about the scale of this yet) that are in constant motion around this large lake / ocean. People frequently travel between these islands, and do stuff (trade??? Haven't worked this out yet.) over there. I'm thinking they might be nomadic just to help the world make sense. That's... about it. First of all, welcome to the Shard! Now, about your novel. (You expressed concern about it being too much like the Hunger Games, so I'll focus on that). I presume you're referring to the final book, unless your protagonist actually ends up in the arena. So, I'd focus less on the 'I'll have revenge' idea, and more on 'Let's go to where it's safe' idea. Maybe the protagonist could toy with the idea of starting a war against the aliens in a personal vendetta, and then chooses against it. Bear in mind, this is your story. It's all up to you.
  11. Fortnightly? Maybe. Weekly? I don't think that's realistic. While a lot goes on in the Shard, most of that is jokes and houmour related content. If you want to get a group together to do this (like the Shardcast, but on time), include me in the discussion, and I'll probably be able to join up if I'm not too busy. Although, now I think about it, I do think it would be good to have a 'highlights' section whenever Brandon's done a signing/AMA/event/book release, discussing what the key revelations were and how they might influence the Cosmere, or what theories might be formed based on what was said.
  12. I think we've lost some momentum. If no-one does something by Sunday, I'll shake things up. (i.e. create a character that does something outrageous.) I mean, we're posting at about the rate of one a week, and that's fairly insignificant stuff as well.) I'll probably get a Cadmium Burner to do it. That way, when they escape, we can go straight to the pottery exhibit event. (If anyone doesn't want it to be Sunday, I'll change the date I do this. But seriously, we need something to happen.)
  13. I have to admit, the title drew me (Kerbal Space Program - whoever said video games didn't give you an education). While I generally don't read/write romantic fanfics, it is quite a high quality work with a good writing style and interesting directions. Good work!
  14. Madagascar (I'm sure it's it has the same name)
  15. One of the reasons I hate living in Australia. I'd have to get up at midnight to do this, which my parents would never allow. Wow. That sounded bitter.
  16. Not much has happened recently on the Stormlight Archive front. I'd recommend looking out the the gem we got from the AMA about... Mistborn-y thing.
  17. The big burly man looked around. This was... highly unusual, even for things in which he was involved. He whispered to the air, knowing only his boss would be able to hear him. "Backup requested." (Note: The person he speaks to is a Shard. Working on details.)
  18. Sympathy vote for Raoden.
  19. I feel 'Triborns' sort of go against the mistborn system. If you really want a character with 2 allomantic powers, have one of the powers come from a hemalurgic spike. I might be in or out, depending on time commitments.
  20. Is there a separate page for the reading? That's the only thing I've had time to watch. Anyway, my thoughts.
  21. 8024=Shard (We pretty much guessed this already, but I'll publish it just in case we miss it.)
  22. Really? What musical? On a more relevant note, I too shall be able to start working more vigorously in November (the first time ever that I can remember being less busy during NaNoWriMo Month.) In the mean time, school exams are keeping me at bay.
  23. Personally, I'm waiting for a review before I decide to go see it. The prequel trilogy was disappointing, to say the least, so my vote is hopeful, but not enthusiastic.
  24. It's little better now. No members, but it's got the April Fools "Brandon wrote Stormlight 8" thing there.
