  1. You know, because Braize couldn't have Florida weather... It has to be burning cold or freezing.
  2. I don't think it is a power of 16, actually. That's 65,536. It is, however, a power of 8.
  3. "You do favors because it's a nice thing to do, not because you should expect anything in return." - My mother, when she's asked me to do her a favor. "Why should I do this? What's in it for me?" - My mother, after I ask her to do a favor. Also, spellcheck telling me spelling favor with a u is a mistake, because of American spelling. I like my u's. Americans can leave them alone. Christmas presents are a pain. I actually made a deal with a friend, that neither of us have to get each other a Christmas present, which saves both of us a lot of stress and worrying. We both agree it's a better solution. (Although I think my friend and I are in the minority with this one. There are other people I know that would be aghast if I even suggested the idea.) Cool music.
  4. My annual Christmas shopping: Mother: Chocolates. I could never go wrong with chocolates. Father: Anything but chocolates. He hates the things.
  5. I agree with the sentiment about the Doctor going overboard about Clara. To be honest, he's been doing it the whole series. Regarding the General - I hadn't actually made the connection, though it does seem a lot more obvious now that it's been pointed out to me. After consideration, you're probably right.
  6. My mother gives me a lecture about how I should be independent, resilient, and self-sufficient. I shouldn't just let people push me around, and I should always be fair. The same afternoon, she makes up a something I've done wrong out of thin air (apparently, I'd failed to do some task or other, which she'd never mentioned that I'd had to do in the first place, nor was it my job to do... ever.) Then, she assigns a 'punishment', of more chores, co-incidentally hers. When I point out the flaws in that line of arguing (in a perfectly calm and reasonable matter), suddenly I'm being 'insubordinate'. Twi, I can completely sympathise. What year are you in? In Australia, they very suddenly ramp up the amount of pressure at the end of Year 10. The previous years, you could basically chill out after the report cards had been written. But, the entire point of Year 11 and 12 is just to give you a massive shock to get you to start taking things seriously. Apparently, they're starting that treatment early with us.
  7. Not actually as unlikely as you might think. My father was extremely disappointed that 'Go set a Watchman' won fiction. Strong language was involved. In fact, a lot of people there voted on what the most famous was, rather than the best. I can understand this, to a certain extent (I mean, you can only vote for books you've read.) But, seriously? 2014 results, Childrens... The Blood of Olympus, officially the greatest waste of money ever to hit the Earth.
  8. Will... a.k.a. Shivertongue? Or a different Will? Nice to meet you, by the way.
  9. Yes I know. That's the final version. But because I'm an extreme nerd about these kinds of things, I was intrigued at the early design in comparison.
  10. Just a note - you said in the Returned section "...you would need to be returned by Cultivation." I presume you mean Endowment. As for my choice, I'd have to say it depends on what situation I was in. If the spirit of Adonalsium came up before me and said I could have any one trick to being immortal, I'd probably pick having 2000 Breath. If I were a soldier or in some other physically dangerous situation, I'd probably choose double atium.
  11. Or, you know... just click 'mark as read'. That works too.
  12. Yeah... I was sort of guessing that. Oh well.
  13. Wait... Disney made a Chronicles of Prydain movie? I don't know whether I should rejoice or cry.
  14. When you have to regularly check your outline of your book to purge any signs of already used content by Sanderson from it, because you want your book to be awesome and you automatically put everything Sanderson's written into that category.
  15. My original profile pic was a quill, ink and a piece of paper, but after my stint as an Ookla, I changed to this one. I thought my old one was too similar to Slowswift's so I went hunting for a new one. I think I prefer this one anyway, though, so no harm done. My signature... Pretty mediocre, really. I'll considering making a Diaemus banner to make it more interesting, but I haven't found the time. Meanwhile, I'll probably find a quote or something to act in it's place.
  16. My cat loved Christmas when it was a kitten. It had a sibling, originally, and they laved chasing each other around, and under, the tree. Unfortunately, the tree wasn't all that well balanced. Nothing bad happened, luckily, but after a near miss we ended up putting a great around the tree. We don't have that anymore though. They seemed to have gotten used to it being there sometimes, so when it appears in the loungeroom, they look at it for a moment, then go back to sleep.
  17. Alas! Puny mortals, I have surpassed you. I have transcended the planes of mediocrity, to be a being of a greater than average rep count! Weep before my utter glory!
  18. Allomancy, you do know you've stretched the borders of the page? Sorry if this is irritating, but could you put a few more enter buttons in on your post? And yes, Christmas is awesome. Free presents and way too much food. What more could anyone wish for? (Placing bets that Twi says something about pugs next. )
  19. Advertising for the Reckoners - "Casual Insanity" (I love that concept) Lyrics from - "Anberlin", according to Google. It sounds like a pretty cool song. Might have to do a bit more research into them (even though I almost never listen to religious songs, being Atheist). 9/10
  20. No... Pinterest is coming into the Shard! Kobold, your secret is up. I know the secret:
  21. And I'm back from my stint as an Ookla, ladies and gentlemen! It's about time new Sherlock episodes were released... January 1st, a special is coming out. Can't wait.
  22. 2^15=32 768
  23. I don't think this is random enough... but I sort of accidentally found an early version of the UK edition of the Bands of Mourning cover. So far as I can tell, the image hasn't been publicly released. Source.
  24. Just found out that Joel's last name for the Rithmatist is Saxon. Now I voice in my head is saying "Vote Saxon for Prime Minister!" Can't you hear it?
  25. Spook named all the places after people. Yomend Sea Rashekin Alendel Marewill Flower Elendel Vinuarch Hammondar Bay Demoux Promenade Doxonar Something to do with Tindwyl that I can't find at the moment. Some were named after places, too: Tathingdwel Seran Range & New Seran Channerel Range Tyrian Sea
