  1. I think he's just trying to get a ruse out of those of us who find legit questions about the Reckonerverse being Cosmere annoying, since Brandon's answered it literally countless times.
  2. He seems to be arguing that Brandon's refusals to the idea seem highly suspicious..? Edit: Nevermind, he seems to simply be saying that because there is no WoB stating Calamity isn't a Shard, therefore we can't rule it out.
  3. I would recommend Warbreaker before the Mistborns for one simple reason: Well of Ascension. It's...to be frank, boring. It's ridiculously long given the lack of content within it, the characters tend to repeat themselves for chapters on end, and the tension just builds, and builds, and builds, and builds, and builds, and builds, and builds, and builds, and...you get the point. That's not to mention the poor quality of various characters and their relationships. In the end it's not a very good showing considering the level of quality of every other work Brandon has released ever. Having someone read that as their third work in the Cosmere doesn't really instill much confidence in an author, in my opinion. That being said, my opinion of the book could be jaded, slightly, because I did read Warbreaker, then Elantris, and then the Mistborns, so I had some quality writing by Sanderson before reaching WoA. My father, a man who likes just about anything ever, felt the same way about the book. He, too, read Warbreaker and Elantris first, since I was the one giving him access to them.
  4. The Cosmere is its own universe. It is a universe the size of a dwarf galaxy. Any Earth-based stories are not Cosmere, because Brandon currently does not wish to include Earth in the Cosmere. This rules out Alcatraz, Reckoners, Rithmatist, and many of his novellas and short stories. The Cosmere currently consists of; Elantris, Warbreaker, The Mistborn Trilogy, Alloy of Law, The Stormlight Archive, Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell, Sixth of the Dusk, and The Emperor's Soul. I don't think I've missed anything there. Upcoming additions to the Cosmere include Shadows of Self, Bands of Mourning, and Brandon is currently writing the first draft of Stormlight 3.
  5. And I'll edit my post so the quote isn't there. If it makes you feel better, I wouldn't view it as a waste because now you're not taking up any of the space on the XBone hard drive, instead having the 360 hard drive for the data. Unless you've purchased a multi-TB external to hook to your XBone through USB.
  6. This is something you'll want to PM Chaos or another admin/mod about. Discussion here would most likely be inappropriate. To get this thread back on topic, I now don't get to spend July 4th with my friends because it is just assumed by my mother and sister that I can watch the dogs while they get to go see family in another State. And for the record, my dogs go bat-poop-crazy when fireworks start popping, so someone has to be there so they don't kill themselves/each other.
  7. From the forum index page, the title of this thread looked like "Favoite Brandon Sanderson", so my response was going to be Sanderbot #322054. But since you're talking about books, I'll go with Warbreaker.
  8. Perhaps it's more of the Ash-world Falling to the new!Scadrial? Either way, I think Argent is correct in thinking that the Great Catacendre was the events of HoA.
  9. I doubt it was all that many Breaths. In the prologue, Vasher Awakens the straw figure with either 50 or 100 (I forget which) Breath. That's a straw figure, not a corpse with muscles and veins and eyeballs and other things. You can't get more perfectly human in shape than a corpse.
  10. I never got the romancing vibe from Donna. I got the "Yeah, we're best buds. He's a dude. I'm a lady. Get over yourself" vibe, and it was awesome. The Doctor was traveling with his best friend. Not some hot young thang that would inevitably hero worship him.
  11. To make this discussion of season more technical, here they are: Winter: January, February, March Spring: April, May, June Summer: July, August, September Fall: October, November, December That being said, the weather doesn't always follow the plan... And to stay on topic: The release being only one month apart from Bands of Mourning doesn't surprise me too much, as they are two different publishers, yes? Perhaps the goal is to release Calamity during the same time of year as Firefight was released.
  12. Buttercup could not believe her eyes. Stepping up to the railing along the side of the bridge, she gripped the metal with a gaping mouth. Her shock quickly changed to anger, and her grip tightened, deforming the railing. She wheeled around to stare Rainmaker in the eyes, wanting to lash out and yell at the High Epic. Instead, she took a deep breath through flared nostrils, trying her best to keep the fury from her voice. "Why did you not tell me about this? I am the Queen of Security and this is exactly the kind of thing you should be telling me about!" She closed her eyes to compose herself further, not expecting an answer, and slowly lifted off the bridge, floating down to the Epic trapped on the riverbed. Once landed, she leaned over, staring directly into the Ogress's eyes. "I wasn't there on the day you attacked. You should feel relief over that, because had I been there, I'd have ripped you limb from limb. If you so much as try to escape, I will personally crush you down to the size of a baseball, and keep you in a trophy case on my mantle." As she straightened back up to a standing position to look for the lever Rainmaker spoke of, she gave the Iron Ogress a rough kick in the ribs. "That's for Bulletproof, you slontze." She had no idea if that would even hurt the metal Epic, but it was worthwhile. Finding the lever, she released it, and the contraption around the Epic's mouth released as well. Buttercup then flew up to wait a few feet above the river's water level. There was no sense in waiting on the riverbed when Rainmaker could easily release the river upon the Ogress at any moment. Bubbles hummed softly as she brushed her hair in front of a mirror. The rest of the drive to Tangent had been uneventful, as it usually was. Uneventful, like her life these days. She stopped humming to let out a sigh, placed the brush down, and moved onto the bed, her comfy pajamas making the comfy bed even more comfortable. She squirmed a little to reach maximum comfort levels, then closed her eyes. There was one good thing about leading an uneventful life, she could draw just about any time that she wanted. The drawing she had been working on during the car ride, for example, was yet another beautiful masterpiece. The pterodactyls had been a nice touch, but she still hadn't been satisfied. The drawing became finished once she added in Godzilla.
  13. My God why hasn't this been thought of before? It would only be worthwhile writing him, though, if every post contained Space Jam lyrics though.
  14. Oh geez, I'll have to dig through my college journals to find that class, and then see if I even took notes that day (he may have told use not to so he could go faster than normal). If I don't have them then I'm sorry, I do not remember it off the top of my head. I just remember the feeling of awe and wonder as my love of math was solidified for life.
  15. From Fate/Stay Night visual novel, Unlimited Bladeworks pathway Rough translation from Japanese to English: "Come, King of Kings. Do you have enough weapons to keep up with me?" From The Princess Bride "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
  16. I'm going to stay out of the Goku v. Cosmere comments here and instead comment on the Goku v. Cell bit. Goku doesn't beat Cell because he knows Gohan can if given the opportunity to study Cells moves. As such, Goku fights Cell, tires him out some, but mostly offers Gohan the chance to see what Cell can do. It's not that Goku necessarily couldn't do it himself, but he knew Gohan definitely could. That was my take, anyways.
  17. It was sunset when my ladies went to see Rainmaker in their intro post. While meeting with Rainmaker it grew dark, and yes, all the scenes within the RP at the park were at night.
  18. Green light streaked through the sky as Buttercup flew to the Harrison Street Bridge. The wind whipped her hair, but she didn't mind. She really enjoyed flying, it was a blast to see the landscape pass by underneath you. Crossing over the Williamette River, she started her descent as she reached the Orleans Natural Area. Swooping low, she passed through the metal bars of the Van Buren Street bridge and came to a soft landing next to Rainmaker, her green light dissipating. Crossing her arms, she looked to Hypno, then scanned the deserted bridge before looking back to Rainmaker. What's going on? she wondered, confused by all the secrecy. Why else fly out to meet just another Epic? They were Queens, if secrecy wasn't the goal, Hypno should have come to them.
  19. Oh I didn't mean I'd rather not post. I meant that if I wasn't going to be posting again, I wanted to get Bubbles done too. Sorry isn't going to scrub my brain clean...
  20. Ah yes, my apologies. Will it be my last post before the end of the day (so I can wrap up Bubbles as well) or are you going to need/want responses?
  21. That would depend on what Investiture actually is. If it's energy, then the Spirit Bomb would indeed be capable of absorbing it.
  22. This will never get enough upvotes.
  23. So this is partially my fault. I actually had no idea Heatsink existed, or, if I did, completely forgot, so my apologies in that regard. The IRL reason why Heatsink wasn't called in, despite being the perfect candidate to combat Converter, is because Heatsink didn't exist until after I had already made the post where Buttercup calls on IcyHot and Resistor. Looking at dates for posts, Heatsink was added to the Epics of Oregon thread a week or two after that post. Could you refresh me on Heatsink's role? Is he a government friendly Epic, a worker for the government, or what? To my knowledge, we're trying to end the day in Corvallis to catch up with the other threads, which have all already pushed into the next morning. The last solid plot point we needed to finish before the end of the night was the one involving Hypno, which is happening right now. As far as making an intro post goes, an option you could pursue is showing up at the park where Converter is being held and saying that Broadcast told you to show up. That would give you access to Gleeman's character Mannequin, and you'll be in the vicinity when Converter is freed (by whomever frees her).
