  1. OK, we need an "I am making a silly joke" font on this forum. Agreed. Just got home from seeing it. I have never laughed so hard at a movie. I laughed until I cried. To those of you who are under 18: I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. But you really shouldn't watch this movie until you're older.
  2. I dunno. I'm actually getting kind of used to being able to Feruchemically store and tap Maturity. If you remove Mr. Pointy, I won't be able to do that anymore, and THEN how will I convince people that I am capable of being an adult?
  3. Setting aside the privacy issues (which are my main problem with the OS), it's Windows. Linux is far superior. I've told my husband, "If you were a pony, your cutie mark would be Tux." He just gave me a pained look. Probably at me picturing him as a pony. And yet whenever I pull MLP up on Netflix, he is overtaken by a strange desire to sit down on the couch next to me...
  4. That's what I took it to mean, but I know Slowswift pretty well and am probably a bit too good at extrapolating what he meant to say out of what he actually said. I'll stop rudely trying to speak for him now and let him wander back and respond in his own time.
  5. You would be able to burn a denser bead longer than a less dense bead of the same volume.
  6. Computers.woot sold out of their original deal today, and popped up a $200 Thinkpad. ...I couldn't resist the temptation. Tiny adorable laptop is mine! And I'm married to a Linux sysadmin, so that awful Windows 10 will be put out of its misery and replaced with Mint.
  7. He's referring to an earlier post, I think, talking about taking a block of metal and force-condensing it down to a bead. The bead would have the same burn length as the block of metal it came from. Not from another bead of different density.
  8. Oh, her mother would unspool. They're trying to sell the house. A yard sale while a real estate agent is trying to show the thing would be terrible! Twi, you should totally do it.
  9. Step One: BREATHE Step Two: Wait to see if the library approves the dates. They might still. This might still wind up being perfectly OK. Step Three: IF the dates are not good, find dates that are. Call airlines and try and move the dates. Step Four: Breathe some more. Step Five: Be sure and PM me the link to your GoFundMe at some point. Step Six: Pass your tests, get your job, pack up everything, and leave. Feel free to use strong language at any point during Step Six. Step Seven: NEW JOB NEW LIFE
  10. Preferably eggs that have been hiding in the back of the refrigerator since 2005.
  11. You guys are all completely rusting insane. Come on weekend...just a few more minutes...weekendweekendweekend! ETA: Good grief, I just got three upvotes in the last two minutes, and I have no idea where they came from...
  12. ... Of course you have.
  13. At this point, I have a lot more faith in the MCU's grand plan than anything on the DCU roster. Which makes me sad, because Barbara Gordon is basically my favorite comic book character ever.
  14. The series finale of Angel, tragic cliffhanger that it is. For that matter, the series finale (as well as various season finales) of Buffy. And the end of Serenity. Really, Joss Whedon is just really, really fond of this trope.
  15. Neat! I imagine it'd be pretty easy to fabricate all the Cosmere stuff out of the old Champions system as well. I mean sure, we have the MAG, but what if we want to mix other Shardworlds with Scadrial?
  16. Popping in here to reply during lunch...and Twi and Orlion already covered all I was going to say. There's not much you can do but be there for her and wait for her to accept that she has a problem she needs help with. I'm sorry.
  17. I think it's safe to say that if there were an easy way to filter the protected boards out of that ticker, Chaos would have implemented it long ago.
  18. In that particular case...yes. We, er, weren't going out at that point. He is an impressive human of dazzlingly above-average qualities.
  19. It's the little things in life.
  20. James used to give me pained looks when I'd bring up the subject, so I finally reconciled myself to the sad fate of never getting to experience the joy of a kilted husband. ...then one day for my birthday he surprised me. I came home to find him wearing one that he'd bought on the sneak. My husband loooooves me.
  21. People around me are making derogatory comments about men in kilts. ...I do not understand most of my female co-workers. Men in kilts are HAWT.
  22. Elantris is a good next-point. Then you could move onto the first Stormlight book (Way of Kings), and then Warbreaker. Or the other way around. But you'd definitely want to read Warbreaker before Words of Radiance.
  23. For an animated gif, you'd need something like ImageReady as well... Hmm. I dunno. With enough time and poking, I could probably manip the original image into something like that, but I don't know that I have that many creative spoons to spare right now.
  24. Cracked dot com has. Agreed. Just take a deep breath, Twi, and stop letting your mom get to you. She's really trying to drive you into self-fulfilling prophecy here. The last thing you need is her ability to rile up your brain weasels to mess with the way you present yourself.
  25. Wow. I have been playing the flute for 27 years, and I've never seen one of those little monsters before. That thing looks nuts. XD Though that is a very complex instrument with detailed key action to allow the full range of notes from a one-handed instrument, and recorders are fairly simple (usually) open-holed instruments where you just cover a hole with your fingers. You could make a one-handed recorder, but they don't have the necessary complexity to cover a full scale's worth of notes.
