  1. I'm reading that section number in the phonetic alphabet, by the way. Four Charlie dash X-ray!
  2. I...I think that is the first time I have ever heard anyone refer to the English language as "simple".
  3. "Some"?
  4. A central AC heat pump would probably run a lot more efficiently.
  5. You took the thought right out of my brain...
  6. I think Kobold King missed a couple of classes, actually. The Writer Wannabe, and The Cosplayer. I qualify as either (or both) of those.
  7. Dear sweet baby Heru, what madness has my silly joke wrought?
  8. Yes, there's a thread about this on the Cosmere Theories board.
  9. Hey, now. What did ponies ever do to you?
  10. I'd say you should buy your own box fan, but someone would probably swipe it and your mother would back them up.
  11. It's even funnier if you picture me as my avatar pony. "You are accosted by a red-maned unicorn with a music cutie mark! She proceeds to serenade you with her sonic unicorn magic."
  12. Oh, OK. In the States, anything over 40 hours for the week on an hourly wage has to be paid time-and-a-half for overtime. Yearly salary, of course, is an exception. Which I am now. I still boggle at the fact that I'm the boss now. Well, not the boss-boss, but sort of a miniboss. I'm, like, the first level's boss fight before you start moving on to bigger and tougher bosses.
  13. Long shifts = blech. But hey, overtime pay! (The UK does have overtime pay, right?)
  14. Blech. And, of course, it's getting nearly impossible to run a homemade DVR on cable because of their encryptions. We only manage it because we dumped cable completely and just record off the local channels via antenna.
  15. It's actually quite sad, but even a Femme!Presto cosplay would be extraordinarily dull. There's just not much outfit to work with. Ah, well, I suppose then if I'm ever gonna costume a cartoon character, it'll have to be She-Ra.

At least with She-Ra you get to have awesome boots! And a sword!

Shiny gold go-go boots! The problem, though, is that I cannot wear heels. My knees just can't take it anymore.

Sounds like you need to paint some combat boots!

  16. Historically, WayneSpren's cookies are real cookies stuffed full of sugary goodness and a near-zero metal content. If that has changed, then I am going to feel betrayed.
  17. (Pish, you'll be fine. You're awesome.) OK, then - JordanCon 2017!
  18. Spoiler alert: I had already added "Get Twi to go to a con" to my bucket list of things to pester people into doing. I figure I can really start bothering you about it once you've gotten settled into N'awlins and have vacation days to draw on.
  19. OK, new headcanon: little wilson is a Highlander Immortal.
  20. I think that while we do have a WoB confirmation that aluminum has a bit of an area effect, glasses wouldn't be enough coverage to make much of a difference. I do have some ideas, though, more on a jewelry sort of tack. Imagine a fancy aluminum chain hairnet sort of thing - that could do the trick. It'd be expensive (at least until Scadrial cracks Hall-Heroult, which is just a matter of time), but neat.
  21. You're more likely to get results from cadmium, as it burns a lot more slowly and is a bit easier to get hold of than bendalloy. Still, you'd pretty much have to be a savant and have easy access to a lot of cadmium to be able to pull it off. Almost as if you were a prospector with ties to a family that owns a bunch of mining operations with a focus on Allomantically viable metals. Hmm... Gee. I wonder if I may have already gone somewhere with this, but just haven't posted the story yet.
  22. Ah-hah! A (relative) local! I'm in the Kansas City metro.
  23. Dangit. And my experience with the company-issued DVRs is that if something goes bad, they either can't or won't transfer your recordings over. And it's not easy to tap into those hard drives; they encrypt everything.
  24. But we're not! At least not in nerd circles. Trust me, you go to a con, and there will be plenty of people sporting little GIR pins and stuff, and the dealer's room is sure to have Invader Zim merchandise squirreled away at multiple booths.
