  1. Oooh, I have attracted a pile of random trolls on Facebook!  This...this is going to be a fun weekend.

    :D  <_<

  2. Apple juice is amazing. So are animal crackers. Who decreed that they be labeled 'juvenile' foods? I'd eat them at a business meeting.

  3. Prepping to fly to DC for the Women's March on Washington.  (I debated for a while whether to flat-out say what I'm doing this weekend. Ultimately I decided that I can post about it on my feed without starting any massive political debates.)  So yeah, I'm doing the protest thing.  I think it's important, so I'm going to go walk the walk.

    Some things:

I will be updating probably more via Facebook than here, cause it's easier to do on my phone.  If you're looking for updates on Saturday as to how I am / if I'm OK, talk to ThirdGen Or TwiLyghtSansSparkles.  They should have access to my FB updates.

I will not be alone, so don't fret that I'm going to just get lost in the ginormous crowd.  I'll be meeting up with Oudeis and his mom and sister, and we will be doing the march thing together.

Honestly, I don't really expect things to get all that dicey.  This is a crapton of people involved, and most of the city establishment is supportive.  Be more concerned about the folks participating in the smaller co-marches in other cities around the country.

  4. I don't belong here. I've been here for a year and I've really not made any friends, a bunch of acquaintances, yes, but not really any friends. I mostly check the site because of habit. I'm sure you find my cynicism amusing, but I don't belong here among all the nice people. To be completely honest I'm a bit of a jerk and I have to censor myself a bit too much here to be comfortable.

Yes, I have to in real life as well, but forums are socialization for entertainment.

... I may or may not have called the shard the internet equivalent to a creepy, suburb where everyone is so freaking nice all the time...

If anyone misses me I'm in the reddit cosmere Discord, I have a twitter if you want to stalk me, you can find some stuff I write on TooSpooky and I'll probably update you if Skyverea actually ever becomes a thing.

But for now that's it, fare thee well, have a pleasurable existence and so on.

    Bye.

    Silver tastes weird.

  11. A good 60 percent of my writer's block is me trying to come up with surnames that aren't random objects lying around my apartment. I don't think the world is ready for the seven-book saga of Jordan Bedsidelamp.

  12. You know, I've been thinking...

This website is truly something special.

We are total strangers, who would not recognize each other on the street, or in the grocery line.

People who would not spare a passing glance at each other out in the "real world."

We get together on this one little corner of the internet, and we talk. We don't know each other's real names, friends' names, pets' names (except Bruce, all hail the mighty puglord, et c. et c.). All we have to go on are usernames and tiny, 49kb images.

And on this little website in one little corner of the internet, we have formed a family. And it is the best family on the web.

Where else can you find a Jewish Aussie anime-obsessed Hamilfan making conversation with a ginger cosplayer from Kansas City who reveres the old Norse Gods about their individual problems? Where else on the net can the queer teen musician from East Tennessee and the pug worshipping loving gay librarian from Louisiana make up stories about evil people with superpowers?

    Nowhere.

This site is special because you all are special.

Now, it's getting late where I am, so I'll make this short and sweet, then I'm signing off for the night.

Thank you all. For everything. I love you guys, and hope to keep being a part of this site for as long as I can.

    That is all.

Good night, 17th Shard. Good night.

Oo, did you watch the My Little Pony version?  Flufflepuff dancing on Rainbow Dash's head is the best.

Hee.  That's true.  The extra fun part is that I am by my own admission an extremely filtered version of myself at work.

Naturally, I then had to find the Flufflepuff video version of Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows, share it on Facebook, and tag her to prove that I didn't actually make it up myself.

      Ha!  OK, here goes...

So, one of my former teammates (Coworker #1) wandered over to chat with the team member (Coworker #2) who sits next to me.  I used to torment C#1 with my posable unicorns, setting them up to stare at him over the wall.  He started commiserating with C#2 about the trials and tribulations of sitting next to me.

I joked to C#2 about how she probably hoped she wouldn't pull my name in the team Secret Santa.

She responded, "Nah, I'll just bury you in pink."

I pointed out the hypocrisy of someone who had JUST the previous day expressed to me how much she hated pink by threatening to pink me to death.  She cheerfully owned it and doubled down:

"It'll be a giant pink unicorn.  Super fluffy."

Me:  "Oh, will it be dancing on rainbows?"

      her:  "What?!"

Me, singing:  "Pink fluffy unicorns dancing on rainbows!"

She turns to C#1 in a panic.  "She just made up a song about it on the spot!  This is not normal!"

  20. It's quite fortuitous that Arcanum Unbounded came out today. Kinda needed that escapism after learning that my mother passed away this morning.

  21. Now, I'm not saying that this is necessarily the most ethical thing to do, but if I were an outgoing president or vice president facing an incoming administration of the opposite party composed of people I absolutely despise, I might be tempted to, say, leave glitter booby traps in the Oval Office and hide Annoy-a-Trons all over the White House.

In a completely unrelated question, does anybody happen to have any connections to Joe Biden?  I have some ideas for him on a thing.  It's top secret.

No.  We don't want Drumpf to actually enjoy anything, do we?
