In case any of y'all wondered what a MLP/Stormlight crossover would look like, uh, here you go?
(I actually wrote it some time ago as a gift for a certain honorable spren, I'm just now posting it to a place that's not here.)

The fact that Miss Minutes in Loki is voiced by Twilight Sparkle makes me very, very happy.

Reading some fanfic. One of the comments after a particularly heartbreaking chapter was:
Quote[author], you absolute bastard.
Write more.
And if that ain't the highest praise an author can receive, I don't know what is.
-
In contrast, I find readers shooting me half-joking angry insults in reaction to things I write to be the highest of honors, and an indication that I evoked the correct set of feels.

Don't you just love it when you Google a character and one of the suggestions is "death scene"?
Because I sure do.

Bought the dip on Gme, and watched it go up by 20. This was a good day

It's too late! You were already hit. Every mention of The (Old) Game allows the first Calvinball player an automatic powergaming move.
You may, however, retaliate freely.

Flipped my car today. That was fun. Got over it.

And now someone at work asked if I played music, because I apparently have that classic English rock star hair.
What is going on

Why, hello, Rejection Senstivity Dysphoria! It's been a while since you came out to play. Thanks for giving me this bout of deeply illogical anxiety about tomorrow night's writer critique group meeting, I'd almost forgotten what it feels like to be totally crippled with nerves over nothing.

You know what all this lockdown time is good for?
Writing.
You know what I needed a kick in my behind to do?Revision, which is a writing prestige class.
You know what I'm revising?
I bet some of you might.

Woot!
Some scenes are getting minor tweaks, others are getting major reworkings. There's one in particular I might throw out entirely and replace. So I'll be interested to see what you think about the changes.
But mostly, this will be a general check for typos and consistency before I set about formatting it for posting.

My fear of forever being "That guy who hasn't written his novel" is matched only by my sheer terror of becoming "That guy who wrote an awful novel."
-
Though to be fair, with as much experience as you have writing scenes and stories through roleplay, you can probably get it done in closer to 4 drafts.

Write the awful novel! Then set it aside for a couple of months, read through it, and identify what makes it awful. Then fix the awful stuff. Poof! You have made the first revision out of about 7 that will turn it into a GOOD novel.

No, even better: I submitted a story to a small anthology and it got accepted.

I have now reached the "depressed and binge-reading every melodramatic fan fiction in sight" phase of my annual life cycle. It is now a matter of sheer chance and environmental factors whether I remain in this state for the duration of the year or whether I emerge from it as a true Angst Author in my own right.
Isn't nature fascinating?
