  1. Well, Kas was technically already in communication with Eol, so while Eol didn't PM him for the social experiment, they were in communication. Also, the Tineye, unfortunately, was involved in the role reveal. Not just with Eol. Multiple people know that person's identity, and I'm fairly certain that there was a Spiked involved, so it's only a matter of time before the Tineye gets attacked. I know exactly what you mean. It's killer hard to stay focused at work. And as for quoting. Araris mentioned the quote button. There's also the multiquote function, but that's not available on the mobile site. If you're copy and pasting the text, the BBCode is [.quote name="insert name here".] removing the periods. And then closing the html after the quote with [/quote.] (also removing the period)
  2. Ash, I'll send that PM in just a bit. I've been working on this nice long essay since I got home from work.... MR3. He (and Kas, in a PM) corrected me. It’s Sart’s Rithmatist game. If I’ve seemed aggressive, I apologize. That’s not my intent. As for the second part here, it’s pretty standard for me to defend myself and address different aspects of accusations, particularly when I vehemently disagree with those accusations. I’ll point out logical inconsistencies, because...well...logic is a big thing for me. It can make or break an argument. ...I haven’t been saying that about myself, to my knowledge. Link, please? I’ve probably indicated that I understand that people don’t trust me, but I haven’t said that they can’t. Or shouldn’t. Or should take what I say with a grain of salt (although, again, I understand if people do. Because not everyone trusts me. Which happens.) About my suspect list. Out of the five people mentioned, two have never mentioned any suspicion of me, one said that he understood why others would be suspicious of me and another but that he himself was suspicious of others, one apologized for a misaccusation (which was placed after I’d already stated I was suspicious of him), and one made a highly suspicious post trying to get a group organizer killed (regardless of it being me or not). I try to keep my own personal feelings out of my reasonings for suspects. I understand that I’m not always successful in that endeavor, but I think in this case, I’ve done pretty well. Oh, I love discussion. When everyone participates, it helps sift out the eliminators. Not always, but oftentimes. You and me both. Like I said, I expected one of two people to get hit. Me or someone else (again, I’m not referring to Claincy). The fact that that didn’t happen has me rather confused, because I seriously have no idea why they hit Kas. All I know is that it does not make sense for it to be a threat kill. There are 6 other players who are better targets as threats than Kas. Me, Wyrm, Ren, Claincy, Maill, and Joe. Not all of us could be Spiked. Not even half of those are Spiked, I’d bet. So no, Kas wasn’t a threat kill. Kas was something else. Perhaps random. Perhaps a connection, but if it’s a connection, I can’t see it, probably because I don’t have all the pieces necessary--like knowledge of who exactly he was in communication with. The only connection I can see is Wyrm, but I’m skeptical about following that one out as far as I can, because the last time I went and analyzed a player’s posts in a game, I ended up getting them lynched and they were innocent. And they weren’t very happy with me about it. I’d rather not have a repeat of that. Don’t misunderstand me. When I say “classic Eliminator style,” I’m not meaning their entire playstyle in the game. I mean when it comes to a lynch. If they don’t have to get their hands dirty directly, most Eliminators aren’t going to get involved. Especially with something as dangerous as this. Let me lay this out two scenarios for you. Both of these scenarios will have a constant of Claincy and I being villagers. Obviously, the Eliminators will know this. Scenario 1 The Eliminators decide to kill me tomorrow night. In the morning, when I am found dead, the villagers say “Well, that’s no surprise. Good to know she’s a villager. I guess we can pay more attention to those people she was suspicious of and also keep up with the discussion on finding these spiked” (Or something along those lines). The next night, Claincy dies. Once again, the village goes “That’s no surprise” and keeps on the hunt. They may lynch a few villagers mistakenly, but all the while, they’re getting closer and closer to finding the Spiked. They’re able to stay focused on the task. Whether or not they succeed is about how well the Spiked can stay hidden. Scenario 2 The Eliminators decide not to kill us at night. The start manipulating the villagers very subtly in PMs, slowly turning the villagers against us. By about Cycle 4 of every night someone different dying and no kill being blocked, it’s obvious that the Spiked aren’t going after us, and the Villagers begins to think that, ya know, maybe they really are Spiked. They really could be. It’s the only thing that makes sense. They should be dead by now, but they’re not, and they haven’t even been attacked, and we’re all trusting them, but we’ve heard that they’re good at this, so they could be manipulating us really well and OH MY GOSH, THEY’RE TOTALLY SPIKED. The Villagers are the ones to bring this up so much in the thread and come to this full conclusion. This is all the result of days of manipulation on the part of the Spiked. They’ve worked very hard to make this happen, and they’re quite pleased to see their hard work paying off. I’m lynched first. The Eliminators do not participate in that lynch. After I’m dead, the Village is shocked to find out that I’m a Villager. But, there’s another target. Claincy’s still alive. It’s got to be him. Sure it wasn’t Wilson, but he must’ve been manipulating her well, which is why she didn’t notice that he was Spiked, and he was keeping her alive because he had her wrapped around his little finger. Not point in killing her then. It’s got to be him. The next day, Claincy’s lynched. Some of the Eliminators will participate in this lynch. Others will sit back and say “I’m not sure that he’s really Spiked, guys; I think you might be making a mistake.” After Claincy dies, the Village is once again shocked to discover he’s a Villager. They start pointing fingers at each other. Mostly at the people who started it--the ones who first vocalized in the thread that we must be Spiked. Those people get lynched. They’re not Eliminators. More fingers point, but nobody is really pointing at the spiked because they stayed out of it. In fact, some people might even rally behind a few of them, because they didn’t participate at all--in fact, maybe some of them tried to calm the Villagers down and get them to not lynch us. These people have got to be good, right? They knew. The Village implodes, and no one is really paying attention to the task at hand and really focused on finding the Spiked (and the ones who are are getting picked off at night), because they’ve all fallen victim to manipulation and gotten sucked into it. They lynch villager after villager, and all the while, the Eliminators are killing people off each night, narrowing the field, getting closer and closer to victory each day. Tell me, which scenario do you think the Spiked are more likely to choose? The one that makes the Villagers go “That’s no surprise,” and stay on the hunt, or the one that turns the village on itself and makes them attack each other? That’s a rhetorical question, because I think we all know the answer. You don’t? I sure do. I think there was a maximum of one Spiked on the table, and I’m nearly certain the Spiked have a vote manipulation role at their disposal. There were 4 lynch options, although if you count Dom, since the second vote on him got dropped late, there were technically 5. Satrams, Karnad, Hero, Ash, and Dom. Satrams and Karnad both are confirmed innocent. Dom is practically a guarantee to be a villager, but maybe not. Even if he is, the Spiked wouldn’t care that he’s on the table, since he’s inactive. My gut tells me that Hero is clean. And that just leaves Ash, who may or may not be spiked. One out of five. That’s pretty low odds. And with a vote manipulation role, if the person is checking constantly, they can make sure that in case their teammate looks like they’re going to get lynched, they can mess with it to make it a tie. So no, I don’t think the Spiked were worried about the vote. I never fly under the radar in terms of not standing out. Not anymore, anyway. I’m far too proactive, especially lately. LG6 corrupted me in terms of getting heavily involved. If you want to see Evil!Wilson flying under the radar in terms of suspicion but not flying under the radar in terms of involvement, go take a look at LG9. Even then, I held to the shadows as much as I could, because I far prefer mindgames and one-on-one manipulation to standing out in the open and keeping the crap from hitting me. Why would Eol vote last minute like that? He’d be better to answer that one, but I just want to point out one thing: it wasn’t last minute. You make it sound like he voted 30 minutes before the rollover, not giving Sart any time at all to respond. He didn’t. It was 2 hours before, and Sart was online looking at the thread (seriously, why do people keep overlooking this!? It’s not a pointless, irrelevant fact). Yeah, I may have overestimated my skill. And my patience. I really just want to watch Arrow right now and have a night to myself where I can eat far too much ice cream and watch a good-looking guy with a bow (I’m nothing if not a straight female with a slight obsession with bows and arrows ) Um. I believe my exact wording was that it would be “better to spread out the kills than focus on one group.” I didn’t say that’s how they should play, although it is the way that makes the most sense. I also disagree with calculating a villager-controlled lynch into that evidence, but that’s just me... Once again, it wasn’t last minute, and most of the true suspicion on Eol had died down by then, thanks to his explanation--an explanation, by the way, that made sense given the context of what happened. He even told Kas, a confirmed innocent, that he was going to try something. I don’t care that he didn’t tell Kas what he was going to do. The fact is that he told him, and a Spiked would have no reason to tell an innocent. I also happen to know that he learned the identity of a Tineye through his experiment. Yet no Tineye was attacked last night. Not much evidence, but it’s some. Mostly, though, I know that no competent eliminator team would let someone try something like that, knowing that it would put such high suspicion on them, regardless of their role. No, I knew exactly what you meant, and my response was based on that. If Eol and I were both spiked, and he pulled a stunt like that that was not condoned, the second I found out what happened and who was behind it, I would not have relented until he was dead. I would have continued casting suspicion on him--particularly in PMs. I don’t care if Eol said he didn’t think people would find out for a few rounds. The fact is that they did, and I would’ve tossed him aside. I see a far simpler reason for Eol’s actions: he’s a clean villager who made a mistake and he’s defended himself at least well enough to keep the villagers from lynching him quite yet even though he still has suspicion on him from it. If he’s spiked, I don’t see how he’s still alive, since clearly he did it so he would die, so why isn’t he dead yet? Why did he even defend himself yesterday? He was set to be lynched and then he defended himself. So if there’s any explanation that literally does not make any sense whatsoever it’s that he is spiked. I would almost stake my life on it. In fact, you know what? I will. I’m so certain that Eol isn’t spiked that if he gets lynched today and he is, I will gladly submit myself to the chopping block tomorrow. I’ll even cast the first vote on myself, Kas-style. Conveniently omitted portions of my logic and wording that don’t support your argument (as in the case with the threat kills) is twisting things, even if you deny it. And I didn’t turn your post into anything. I picked it apart logically. Using logic. It’s not my fault it ended up looking sinister and suspicious. Um. Perhaps because your post was illogical and based mostly on circumstantial evidence, and I was expecting the Eliminators to pull something like this, even if I never vocalized it (which I didn’t vocalize it, because you never know whose hands those words will get into, and if it gets into the Eliminators hands, what I was expecting to happen all of a sudden would never happen). I’m suspicious of you because you’re suspicious. No particular questions. Though if you’d like to respond again, I’ll be happy to continue the debate. It’s been refreshing.
  3. I live to serve.... I knew it was a good thing I saved my lunch break for a bit later in the day.... Theoretically, yes, but it depends on their situation. The main advantage that Claincy and I have right now compared to the Spiked is the PMs. However, most people aren't using them. If the Spiked know that and are in communication with the people not in their PMs, they're probably not too terribly worried about us. Most of the information we have is stuff the Spiked have access to, whether because it's in the thread or because it was gained in the Day 1 social experiment mess. I'm nearly certain a Spiked was involved in that, and I have my eye mostly on Ostrich as the culprit for it. If the Spiked aren't too terribly worried about us right now, they'll be focusing on bigger threats to them, whatever those may be. They'll also likely be trying to feed the villagers' worry about us, hoping to get us lynched in the process. We do have information. I'm involved in a lot of PMs. The active ones are not, however, the group ones. They're predominantly one-on-one. And all three of those (it was four, but Kas just died) are with people that I happen to trust. As in, there's a better than 80% chance that they're villagers. This one-on-one information gain is something the Spiked have to worry about for everyone, but if they can stay away from us long enough and manipulate the Villagers, mostly by reminding them that we're still alive, they can get the Villagers to do their job for them. And the great thing? They won't even have to vote for us. They can turn the crowd against us via manipulation both in the thread and in PMs and then sit back and watch us get lynched. Then, when the fingers start pointing at the people who lynched us, the eliminators don't need to worry about any fingers pointing at them. Because they never voted for us. The sort of passive play is the classic Eliminator style. If the Villagers can do your job for you, they look guilty and will continue lynching each other, and you don't have to get your hands dirty in the lynch. Why not do so? Because that's an amateur mistake for an eliminator. You're way outnumbered so you don't want to cost your team by dying too early. The best way to avoid death is to stay out of the light. That mostly means avoiding situations exactly like this. There are only 3 people to blame for Sart's death (although I blame Sart himself as well, so 4 people). Escaping that kind of close scrutiny when it's only focused on 3 people is incredibly difficult. I don't think an eliminator would willingly put themselves into that kind of a position just to get a lynch, when it's likely that the villagers were going to lynch someone anyway, with the way we'd all discussed the value of a lynch. It was just who. And if the spiked were, for the most part, okay with the options on the table, they didn't need to get involved at all. Yep. True. That's because I don't think it was. It doesn't make sense. I like things that make sense. So in my mind, that's a eliminator-caused threat kill, a mostly-if-not-entirely-villager-caused lynch, and an eliminator-caused connection kill. I just need to figure out the connection. Which I'll do after work.... So? My logic when I told you that still holds up. I said the eliminators probably have an experienced player on the team--one who is considered a threat. If the eliminators only attack the threats in the game, eventually it'll just be new players, relatively new players, and an experienced player left. After the newer players start dying off, but the experienced player is still alive, people will start to get a little suspicious about that experienced player. And then they'll kill them. I really love how you turn this logical argument against me but fail to include the logic that backed it up. Pure eliminator strategy. I can't really address this beyond saying that that's not what happened. I've already said that Eol came to me and asked my opinion on who to vote for. If you want to know why he came to me, it's rather simple. He saw my comment about Kas in the thread and decided that if Kas trusted me enough to come to me, then he could as well. If any of you are wondering what I mean by that, I'm referring to the player who came to me telling me that Eol was going to perform a social experiment but didn't know what to expect. That was Kas. I used no names because I didn't want to give him away. But Eol obviously knew who I meant. Neither of us wanted Kas to die, so that meant one of the other options. He laid down the prospects, I gave my opinion, and that was pretty much that. And, at risk of sounding like a repeating record, all it would've taken was for Sart to defend himself for me to remove that vote. This is my last time saying this, because if people aren't paying attention enough to catch it the first, second, or third time, they're not worth my time and attention. Oh, believe me, if I were Spiked with Eol and he pulled that stunt when it wasn't condoned, I would've thrown him under the bus so hard, so fast. He'd be dead right now, team numbers be darned. I don't deal with teammates who don't listen to the group. I'll instigate their death and use it to my advantage. It's what I did with Joe in LG4, and I'm not opposed at all to doing it again. You're right. I'm a much bigger problem. To the eliminators. They want me dead. Preferably by lynch, I'll bet. And who's the first one we see really actively trying to do this? You. Both Hero and Ash already apologized for the mess-up last night. But you've gone through and collected so much "evidence" against me--most of it circumstantial and conveniently twisted to suit your purposes. My vote is still staying on Wyrm, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if I moved it to you later on tonight after I'm able to analyze things closer. Also, just for funsies, here are my top suspects, in order of suspicion: Wyrm Ament and Ostrich Ashette Riew I'm putting them down here because I see no reason not to, and if anything it'll facilitate discussion, which is always good. Plus, better in the thread than in PMs. And since you posted in the time I've taken to write this up. One-on-one PM. He started it right as the game started. We didn't use it for a decent portion of Day 1, but it was rather active last night. Many responses. Much talking. Sorry, by "suspect list" I mean "likely Spiked" list. There are some people who I don't suspect. 3 to be exact. Others that I think are probably villagers. And a whole lot that I have no idea about. You were one of the latter. Now you're not.
  4. Honestly? Yes. You would. You're a very intelligent eliminator. To my knowledge, you are the only eliminator who's ever gotten away with having a very prominent place in leading without garnering much suspicion--and surviving the entire game. I am, of course, referring to MR2. And actually, while I've brought up that game, I'm just going to mention something for everyone's benefit: Kas was an eliminator with Wyrm in that game. If Wyrm is evil, who would he want dead more than one of his former teammates who also happens to talk frequently with him beyond the game? Kas is incredibly eloquent and thorough with his accusations. If Kas even caught a whiff of Wyrm being evil, Wym would probably end up dead that very round, if not the next. By all means, kill me if you think it'll help you. You're just going to regret it when you find out I'm a villager, and you lose the person who's been trying to rally everyone to discussion. EDIT: I somehow missed this the first time around, probably because I skipped it to look at my name in red. Actually, I was one of the few Kas kind of trusted. He didn't trust me much, but it was more than either Ren or Wyrm. And believe me, if I were evil and I'd gathered even a bit of trust from Kas, there's no way I would've killed him. I like me some mindgames. A lot. Far more than is reasonable or good. Also, Kas had a feeling he would die. I thought it was unwarranted, since I thought for sure myself or someone else (not Claincy) were far bigger targets. But because he'd thought he'd die, he gave me some of his suspicions. Nice try though. Really. You just put yourself on my suspect list. Well done.
  5. The joys of being on a computer and not on my phone....for example, multiquoting! I love this function.... I highly doubt Kas got involved at all with the role reveals going on, so I'm guessing no one knew he was a Regular, except when he hinted that he was here in the thread by saying that the lynch vote was the only way for Regulars to have their voices heard. I disagree with your reasoning though. If the Spiked are hitting based on experience, there are far more likely targets. Kas is an experienced threat, yes, but he's not as high as me or you or Ren. He's on the same threat level as Maill and Joe, and they both have more experience than he does. Because of this, I don't think they hit him because of experience. I think they hit him because of some connection with him. It may be a connection via PM or something else. To my knowledge, Kas had personal, one-on-one PMs with at least me, Eol, Wyrm, and Ren. And I think it could be one of those, but not the one any of you are thinking (Eol). Wyrm. Hero's already said your logic is faulty, but I want to actually get down to the details of it, because that post seemed off to me when I first read it when I woke up, but I wasn't sure why. Re-reading it and actually thinking more on the situation and everything, I know now. Bare with me as I pick this apart. This is the only bit of this post that I agree with. Why? The people who are accusing those who voted for Sart are fairly suspicious, because I think they're trying to keep the focus on players I'm not entirely sure the focus should be on, for the most part. Lynches happen. That's a large aspect of the game. Another large aspect is defending yourself. If you're accused, defend yourself. Would you like to know who didn't? Sart. Would you like to know who could've? Sart. Would you like to know who should've? Sart. I posted 5 hours til the rollover, knowing I was voting for someone who had time to defend themselves. In my brief conversation with Eol about the voting, he mentioned that he was going to place his vote a few hours before the rollover, giving Sart time to respond. Both of us were expecting a response. I know I would've moved my vote, if he'd posted even a semi-adequate response. I'm pretty sure Eol would've too. And you want to know what even one of us retracting our vote would've done? Saved his life. No one would've gotten lynched. It would've been a tie. As far as I'm concerned, he deserved to die. That may sound cruel, but that's the way it is. You were the first vote, placed 12 hours before the rollover (11 am MST), ostensibly as a poke vote, since (according to the PM) you were seeing if he was feigning inactivity. I'm not exactly sure what you meant by this anyway, since he wasn't really feigning inactivity. He just wasn't posting, but he was online often enough (although he says he was busy in real life, which is understandable). He responded an hour later, delivering on the questions you asked. Did you remove your vote? No. Did you back it up with further suspicions or state why his response didn't satisfy your request? No. Did you have time to do either of these things? Yes. You said I voted three hours after you got off, so I'm guessing your last time online was about 3 pm MST, which makes sense, since that's about what? 11 pm for you? Maybe 10? Something like that.... The point is that you voted 4 hours before you knew you wouldn't be able to change anything. And you left that vote up when you went to bed knowing that he'd responded and you wouldn't be able to change it. Sure, you didn't know others would add a vote to that, but this isn't your first game. You know things happen. You know timezones are an issue. You know that once you go to bed, what you've done is set in stone. It's not changing. The rollover, for you, is when you go to bed. So exactly how does that make you any more innocent than me or Eol? A clue: it doesn't. You're just as much at fault. The fact that you're trying to push it off as though you're not and not accepting any of the responsibility is interesting though. Very interesting. This is true. But I don't think the Eliminators were trying to be involved with the person lynched. I think they participated in the vote, voting for people they didn't think would collect many votes, if any beyond the one the Eliminator placed. That would show that they're participating in the game, so no one can get on their case or poke vote them at all. They're active. There's no reason to poke vote. So if you're an Eliminator, I don't think you were trying to set up a lynch. I think you're scrambling madly hoping that people don't look closely at you, pushing the blame off on the other two people who voted for him, because you're thinking "He wasn't supposed to be lynched!!" Obviously, that's assuming you're an eliminator. I know I said my suspicions for Ash would be pending my time on an actual, physical computer with a real keyboard and not a touchscreen, but I have been swayed by the above evidence. If Ash is still interested in my suspicions of him, I can post it, but for now, Ashette. Wyra. Poke votes. It's become rather the norm lately, for better or for worse. However, I do have a comment to make about this. You're pretty focused on those of us who voted for Sart, but you don't like poke votes. You realize that if people keep their votes on someone regardless of defense that it will result in a lynch, correct? Most likely?
  6. I didn't give any good reason? Well that's news to me. I said his logic was faulty, and I backed that up. How is that not a "good reason"? If I'd said it was a gut reason and I wasn't sure why I found him suspicious but I was following my gut, would that have been a "good reason"? And yes, there are people who vote for--and lynch--players for that reason. Sure, faulty logic isn't the best reason to lynch someone, but few lynches in the first cycle are based off solid reasoning. I'm not convinced anyone who had voted there at the end had "good reasoning" for their votes. The point is that most of them had some reason, which is all that can be hoped for. I'm more concerned about the people who voted who didn't back up their votes with anything at all--like you, Ostrich--and those who refused to participate in the vote because they doesn't want to pull the trigger or whatever other reason--like Ash and Jain. Since Wyrm wants voting, and I support that, I won't withhold it took the end this time, juggling multiple possibilities. Since Ostrich, my main suspect today, already has a vote on him however and I don't believe in bandwagons, I'm voting Ashette. Suspicions pending (I have suspicions, I just need to get on a computer to put them down. I'm on my phone right now. Plus, I just woke up. The last time Tired!Wilson made a decision in this game, Awake!Wilson wanted to smack her face off)
  7. You probably saw me, you just didn't realize it. I was helping out with the sticky notes, putting the names on after Eric (Chaos) put the numbers down. We scoured the line and such. Multiple times. Also, Kas (and everyone else), yes. Satrams *wouldn't* be dead. I apologize for all the grammatical errors in that post. I clearly need to learn how to swipe better on my phone....
  8. This is going to be rough as I'm on my mobile, at a signing, where I should be listening to Brandon doing a reading, but.... Priorities. Hero, I was actually starting to think you were genuinely innocent, but really? You might want to verify your "facts" before you put blatant lies down here. Wyrm was the first vote. Almost 36 hours into the cycle. I placed the second vote, 5 hours from the end, so hardly at the end of the cycle, nailing the coffin shut. Eol placed the last vote. 2 hours til the end of the cycle. But I'm not about to say he should be blamed for that, as others seem to be doing. Eol and I talked about it beforehand (right after I posted) via PM. At that one in time, it looked like it would be Dom, Kas, or Sart lynched. Neither of us wanted Kas lynched. Dom was pointless to lynch, so that left Sart, which I was fine with, especially since it meant the vote would be close enough for vote manipulations, which I rather wanted just because they'd give us information. And anyway, as I said before, Sart was online after that vote. He had time to defend himself. He didn't. He should've. He would've be dead if he had. I don't have the time or the resources (namely my laptop and my notes) to pick this apart, but I'd I'm still alive at the end of the night, rest assured I'm going to. I figure I'll probably be alive since it seems like the spiked are trying to turn the crowd against me. Probably hoping for a lynch. And now the signing is starting. I'll check in again later.
  9. I'd agree with this....if Martha wasn't the companion. I agree that most of the episodes in Season 3 are good episodes, but they tend to be tainted for me by Martha's pining after the Doctor and her complaints about his love for Rose. This is no doubt because intelligent women acting stupidly annoys me to no end, particularly when that stupidity stems from unrequited love. She fell in love with the Doctor. Fine. Believable. I probably would've too, in her situation. However, she knew he was in love with Rose, and while Rose was no longer in the picture, he hadn't received any kind of real closure to that, so it's highly unlikely that he'd be able to move past it, and even if he could move past it, it wouldn't be any time soon. She's intelligent enough to have figured that out. But she still pines for him and blames him for all of it when she's the one who got herself into the situation to begin with. Even at the end of the season when she leaves because she knows it's hopeless, it still seems to me like she's blaming him for all of it--that he just needs to move on, and if he could then he would see that Martha is right there, and he'd fall in love with her. Which is stupid. And yet women do it all the time. And it's this fact that makes me say that while I dislike Martha and I'm not a huge fan of Season 3 because of her, at the same time, I wouldn't want her removed or replaced by someone else because the fact is that that stuff happens. It just bugs me that it does. And yet even with that acknowledgement, I still can't bring myself to really like her. Perhaps I see too much of myself in her--or at least, a past version of myself that I really wish I'd never been.
  10. How's the fire feel, Meta? Did you get burned when the lightning struck?
  11. Yes, you'd only put one vote, but it was also the very first vote of the day, and like you said, you didn't retract it until you voted for yourself. Let's take a look at exactly what Sart said again: (emphasis mine). I found it faulty because it was incorrect. You had voted for someone. Plus, he's suspicious of you for trying to buy trust? Hero was doing the exact same thing by insisting, numerous times, that he wasn't spiked. So why does that peg you as being the highly suspicious one? Because it was coupled with the fact you hadn't voted for anyone?.....except that you had. So....both points make no sense. Faulty logic. ....Huh. I'd thought I had responded to that in the PM, but I must've seen it as I was getting ready for church. Oops. Before you brought it up, that idea hadn't occurred to me, and for the next few hours, as I kept up with everything going on (despite the fact that I should've been paying attention in church, but whatever...), I considered it. When I finally sat down to write that post, I'd concluded that it was a possibility, but ultimately, it was all circumstantial. However, tied with the faulty logic, he was the best suspect at that point in time. When I listed my suspicions and said "but who to vote for?" that wasn't really rhetorical. When I typed that, I actually had no idea which of them I was going to vote for. Ostrich and Ash were mostly gut at the time, Winter was a big worry because I was paranoid about a PM, and Sart was where the little bit of evidence was. Ultimately, I went with the evidence. While the evidence proved incorrect (unsurprising for this early stage), I don't really feel bad about the lynch. I saw him online, checking the thread, after Eol's vote on him, so he no doubt saw that he was leading in votes. Maybe he wasn't in a position to respond, or maybe he just didn't really care. I have no idea. But if he'd even posted a little response like "Hey, I can't respond in depth right now or even before the end of the cycle. I'll explain after the rollover," I would've switched my vote to someone else on good faith.
  12. I meant solid in terms of information base. Not solid in terms of role usage.
  13. That's pretty standard this early in the game. There's not enough information to have real reasoning, but it's the lynch discussions (and the lynches themselves, although with an incredibly fruitful discussion--which I wouldn't say this has been--the lynch isn't entirely necessary) that garner the information necessary for more solid reasons. I'd be worried if someone had a completely solid case against another player this early in the game, and the other player had no defense at all.
  14. Okay....I can finally get around to posting here. Been on my phone all day, and the mobile site just doesn't have the capabilities needed to quote multiple posts.... First, though, a List: Karnad: (3) Maill, Karnad, Wyra, Satrams Dom: (3) Maill, Clancy, Riew, Peng Eoladdin: (2) Maill, Ostrich, Melend, Ostrich Satrams: (2) Wyra, Wilson Odustren: (1) Rent Damon: (1) Aralis Herwynbe: (1) Karnad, Rent, Aralis, Odustren Ostrich: (1) Wyra, Reeco Ashette: (0) Maill, Senn, Ament Jain: (0) Wyra Joe: (0) Clancy Kas was the first vote of this day...He voted even before Hero said that he wasn't voting for anyone, so...that logic doesn't hold up under scrutiny. At all. Why are you really voting for Kas? To save Hero? Is he your evil teammate? As Maill already pointed out, there are times when people claim to not be evil when they are, in fact, evil. Regardless of being prompted or not. It's actually one of the easiest ploys to do. (Which is precisely why I tend to avoid it when I'm actually evil. Too obvious). The fact that Hero's throwing that out there, without any prompt whatsoever, is interesting to me. I also find it interesting that some people are suspicious of Kas for voting for himself because he's clearly trying to gain trust, but not suspicious of Hero for doing exactly the same thing. As for Ostrich. That request was, I think, more an appeal for those contacted by Eol to get in touch with him. Not necessarily trying to narrow down roles. However, I do think role reveals went on there. In fact, I know some did. And now that it looks like Eol is innocent, I'm really starting to look at some of the early people involved in that mess. Who benefits the most from something like this? The Spiked. I'm not sure how wise it would be to reveal who is in what group. Working off the assumption that both Claincy and I are clean, to reveal that would be to let the Spiked now everyone who is in the PMs that they are not in. The exact PMs. They have a group of people as it is. But they don't know the distribution. If they have that information, they can pick people off and completely kill an entire PM group. Goodbye clean communication. Not that there's a lot of communication going on in the group PMs. Some talk a bit, some not at all. Personally, I've been talking more one-on-one lately than group... A few people have talked about this, but I just want to say that voting for Dom is completely and entirely pointless. Not only is he a buffer if he's good, but he's also a target for the Coinshots to prove themselves, if they get in contact with someone. "If you're actually a Coinshot, kill Dom." Then we don't waste a lynch. Could you expound on those suspicions? I thought he explained himself rather nicely, and as other people pointed out, what he did and his reasons for it don't seem like something a group of evil conspirators would condone. Beyond that, someone that I happen to trust slightly told me that before Eol started the experiment, he was in communication with this person and told them that he was going to try a "social experiment." While he didn't tell them what he was going to do, they knew to expect something. The fact that he told someone is even more indicative that he was being straight. Sure, he didn't tell me or Claincy. I don't mind. If he doesn't trust us, he doesn't trust us. Fact is, he seems good, and I know I'm not the only one who thinks that. So please, I'd like to hear your suspicions on him. As for my vote. I've withheld it this entire cycle, going back and forth on multiple people, and not wanting to participate in any bandwagon. I thought Eol was evil. Now I don't think he is. I thought Hero was evil. I still think he might be. I'm also suspicious of Sart. And Ostrich. And Winter. And Ash, a bit. But who to vote for? I think I'll go with the person whose reasoning has been the most faulty. Satrams.
  15. Eolhondras only has 2 votes on him, by my count. Far from a bandwagon. And they're well-deserved votes anyway. He's had plenty of time to get on and defend himself, but he hasn't said anything. That tells me that this is all going according to plan. He wants to die. The only thing that really makes sense in this case is for him to be a Spiked Tineye. Tineye is a passive role, so I don't think it's one you can turn the metal off and stop people from sending PMs. He's fairly useless to his team as long as he's alive, outside of the numbers that he adds. But sending all of those messages was a way of potentially getting a bite, so they can take out the other Tineyes (or at least one of them). And from what I know, there were a couple who bit. So the Spiked know who at least one of the Tineyes is. His gambit succeeded, and he has no reason to defend himself because he knows he can die and it won't be in vain. Surprisingly though, despite the wide range of messages sent, there's a fair bit of information that's been gained from this. But I do agree that there's a misrepresentation on who was contacted. I expect out of the people who've claimed to have been trolled by Eolhondras, there are at least one or two Spiked. Anyway, though...short RP. I didn't have time to write anything else, since this game became a crazy mess in the last few hours. Wilson entered the tavern and dropped onto a barstool, exhausted. She waved at Satrams for a drink before dropping her head onto the bar. She’d been running around non-stop all day, delivering messages and she was pretty sure she couldn’t move another foot. She blamed the saboteurs. Her job was easy before they came along. Deliver the occasional message, which gave her plenty of downtime to spend however she wanted. But now? She didn’t even know what free time was anymore.... All of them need to die, she thought. Sure, it was selfish reason she wanted them to die for, but she couldn't care less. She missed that calm life where she never experienced things like the barracks being on fire, or the alchemist dying (even though he hated her and used urchins to do her job. As if urchins were better than she was. Hmph), or the rumor of a koloss army approaching. She shuddered. She'd rather go the way of the alchemist with an ax in her skull than face an army of koloss. Although, she thought morbidly, I'd still probably end up with an ax in my head either way....
  16. Question: Can everyone who received one of these phishing PMs post the time that you received it? Please include your timezone as well, so I can get them all into a standard time. 5 people have claimed to have been contacted by Eol in the thread, but I know of a 6th. Looking at the PM groups, there are no duplicates in the groups either. Not counting Eol's group (which hasn't had anyone step forward, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of them does, considering), there's only one group who is untouched by his trolling. My reasoning for asking for the time stamps is because he asked a question in the PM, and I want to know if he PM'd people before or after my answer came through. If before, he could just be a troll or he could be evil. If after, it's almost a guarantee he's evil.
  17. As I'm sure you've all seen by now, Claincy and I have started PMs with each of you, in groups ranging from 5 to 6 players in each (most only have 5). I'd like to address some things here in the thread rather than bringing them up in multiple PMs or not at all. 1. The most important point is role reveals. Do not do it. Not in those PMs, and preferably not in any PM unless you've been seeked and are in a PM with other people who have also been seeked. Even then, do not fully trust the seeker, as I'd bet that Team Evil has a seeker. 2. My second point is our alignment. There's a reason I want the seekers to seek us since that's the only way people should trust us. I have my reasons for trusting Claincy, and he has his for trusting me. And when I say "trust" I don't mean complete trust. I mean a tentative trust enough to form an alliance to better the village's chances of winning this. Full trust is pending seeker verification. With both of us in all of these PMs, we've got our eye on the other. If one of us is spiked, we'll figure it out. Or you guys will. If both of us are spiked....that's a rather ridiculous gambit that would end up with the spiked losing a large portion of their team (I have it on strong authority that I'm worth 3 players when I'm evil), and the information gain wouldn't be worth it. Not only would we die the second the village seeker seeked us and said we're spiked, but even if the seekers for some reason didn't, as soon as 2 cycles passed without either of us taking a hit (regardless of lurcher protection), people's suspicions would climb rather sharply. And then we would die. 3. This leads me to the information imbalance. It's true that Claincy and I can gain a fair bit of information in these PMs. However, that's not going to happen (read: I won't let it happen) until we're seeked. At that point, we'll be safe. So the information is fine. It's about what we do with it. Leadership roles are always a little iffy in these games. Some people thrive off of the power and deliver ultimatums, telling people that they'd better obey, or else. I've always rather disliked that technique, since it takes away the choices of the players, and that's a large portion of the fun. I'm all about that bass honesty. I prefer to be straightforward with people, telling as much as I possibly can without divulging critical information to people that I don't entirely trust. I tried to be like that as the Mayor in LG6 (although I didn't have as much control over that as I would've liked), and I plan to be like that here. Any pertinent information gleaned will be brought up for discussion here in the thread. The same goes for questionable behavior we see. 4. And now. This brings me to the reality of spiked in the PMs and why they're not as much of a threat as you might think. There are 8 PMs out there. At most there are only 6 spiked. I'm inclined to think there are only 5, but I could be wrong about that. Still, let's run off of worst case scenario, so 6 spiked. 8 PMs. Assuming Claincy and I aren't spiked, that means that there are at least two clean PMs. No spiked in them. At least. And for every PM with multiple spiked in it, that adds another clean PM. In the thread, there's a 100% chance that what you say is being read by a spiked. In those PMs, there's a 25% chance you're in a clean PM. Does that mean you should be revealing anything important, like roles? Like I already said, no. But it does mean that you can at least discuss. In addition to the thread. If you choose not to though, that's perfectly acceptable. It's not like we can really do much until the seekers seek, but we can at least try. 5. And that leads me to my last point. Claincy and I have just become high-priority targets. Please note that I'm not saying that to garner protection, although that would be nice. I'm saying it because quite frankly, there's no reason for the spiked to not want us dead. Sure, they could refrain from killing us and hope that you guys lynch us, but then they'd be banking on the villager seeker not seeking us, and that's a relatively large gamble. Additionally, like I already said, there are at least 2 PMs they can't see. They don't know exactly who is in those PMs (since there are multiple. They'd know collectively the possible player combinations, but they wouldn't know for certain) or what is being discussed (if anything). They don't know what kind of bonding moments we could be having in those PMs, singing kum-ba-ya or what have you. So they'll want us dead. And they'll make that happen. Now, I don't care if I die. What I do care about is that, since I've put myself out here, I'd like my death to actually mean something. Even if I can't help you guys find a spiked before I die, I want to at least have helped you guys somehow in finding the spiked after. Personally, I think the PMs are among the best way to do that, by weeding them out based on discrepancies. But that only works if everyone talks. And that's all for that. RIP Vron. I may have killed you the first time, but it's sad to see a threat kill go through. As for the 3 Tineyes. 1 of them could be a Mistborn who drew Tin, so we might not actually have three. But we could. And as for Team Evil having a Tineye. It could happen. Sure, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but none of the roles are safe so technically, it could happen. And I wouldn't put it past Meta to do that, simply because we think he wouldn't just because it wouldn't make sense. I'll try to get a bit of RP sometime tomorrow, but I've had a rather long day today and it's almost 2 am. Which means I've been up for almost 20 hours straight. Not the longest I've pulled by any means, but still. Sorry for the blue text. I don't plan to make this like MR4. I actually have RP spinning around in my head for Wilson.
  18. My friends got me hooked on Doctor Who the night after Salt Lake Comic Con in 2013. Got all caught up (not counting classic Who) in a little over a month. It was a great month. I've only watched the first Peter Capaldi episode, so I need to catch up once again, but I loved what I saw. My favorite doctor is 10, by far. Matt Smith was great, yes, but David Tennant....Nothing compares to him for me. Although I have a feeling Peter Capaldi will come close. My favorite companion is probably Donna, closely seconded by Jack. And for my favorite story arc. Geez. That's a tough one. I like the beginning of the Weeping Angels in Blink (but I hated The Angels Take Manhattan, and not because of Amy and Rory), but I'm also a rather big fan of Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead (there's just something about the Doctor telling a horribly disturbing race to look him up and then watching them retreat from him that gets me every time). Or the backhalf of Season 4, particularly the story arc starting at Turn Left and ending with Journey's End, although I also adore Midnight and The End of Time (parts 1 and 2, emphasis on 2). The Silence is a great story arc too. I think I'm going to have to go with The Waters of Mars, though. I absolutely loved the character arc in that one. The Doctor grew so much. It's one of my all-time favorite Doctor Who episodes.
  19. Only had 3 resolutions last year, and I failed on all of them....Should do better this year, though. 1. Become debt-free 2. Research my personal genealogy, taking all lines back to at least the early 1800s, and further assuming I can find the records (iffy at best, depending on the country) 3. Do something social at least once a week (church/church activities not included) 4. Start and maintain a workout schedule 5. Open a savings account and start saving for a trip to Europe (put away at least 1k for it)
  20. Yes, and that was a wise warning. However, by saying not to trust sons of Wil, he could possibly be labeled insane. Why, you ask? Well, you see, Wil is in Will, and that just happens to be the name of his creator. So he's pretty much saying not to trust himself. And he's telling his relatives not to trust themselves either. Totally sounds like a crazy person. Details. I'm pretty sure you're on the Fiendishly-Cunning level on some people's lists, which is only just below the Holy-Batman level.
  21. This is precisely why my dad won't even start the Stormlight Archive. He says there's no point since it probably won't be finished before he dies. I still plan on getting him to read it when the first half is done, though.
  22. Sure, Mr Letter Bearer. That description applies better to me than to you.
  23. Most of my favorites have been said already, but here's my top five. Faramir - He's been my favorite character in the Lord of the Rings since the first time I read those books. One of my first fictional loves (the first, I think, was Robin Hood). Movies destroyed what makes him amazing though. He was one of the only characters the ring's temptation had no effect on, and I loved that because it showed how purely good he was. I also loved that he ended up with Eowyn. So perfect. Edmond Dantes - The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my all-time favorite books. And Edmond.... There's just so much depth around his character and his arc is incredible. I love the changes that he goes through, from being more of a comedic character in the beginning and then to a tragic character for most of it, and then finally embracing both sides there at the end. And the way the name he responds to/refers to himself as corresponds with that. I did a very in depth research paper on him in one of my last semesters of college and there's so much to love and learn from not only in that book as whole but from Edmond specifically. Alexandre Dumas is a genius. Kvothe/Kote - That slash between his names is the reason he makes this list. I think he's a cool character anyway, but I'm not sure he'd make my top five if there wasn't such a discrepancy between Kvothe and Kote and I'm intrigued to an insane degree to learn how he made that transition from one to the other. Adolin - The Brandon slot is a tough one for me to fill. Do I put Kaladin, who I technically like the most, except for the fact that I wanted to smack his face off through the vast majority of WoR? Wit, who seems like the easy choice? Vin, who is just fantastic? Maybe Kell? Lightsong? Vasher? There's so many. But I think Adolin is the right one for now. I've always liked him--even in Way of Kings. I like that he's clearly honorable but he still has very real doubts, which is something that Dalinar doesn't have. Plus, I think he's about to get very interesting as a character, considering how he ended in WoR. Thorin Oakenshield - It should be Bilbo here, if there's any character in The Hobbit on my top five list, but for some reason, I've always loved Thorin. Killed me a little inside when he died in the book. And then when I found out Richard Armitage was going to play him in the movies, I fell in love with him just a little bit more. Anyway, his is another fascinating character arc.
  24. .... I'm not sure why Maill would be warning his relatives to be wary of sons of Wil, since we were on the same side that time. The bugs from Bart make perfect sense though. If he plays this game, there's no way I'll trust anything he says. Ever. Especially if it has to do with being a Seeker (although that would be a perfect troll from Meta. Let's make Barty the Village Seeker this time....ugh) Also, I'm still highly amused every time people with threat levels just as high as mine (like you, Alvron, and Meta) call attention to me and try to slide by themselves. I embrace it. You guys should too.
