  1. This is actually something I've had in mind for a while. I hate safe roles, but I understand that some roles shouldn't be on Team Evil. So I've no problem deciding for my own personal use that something is technically a safe role and team evil won't have it. But I'm not telling the players that. They can wonder. Paranoia never hurt no one. (double negatives intended)
  2. Keira sat against a broken wall, in the shadows, watching. It hadn’t taken her long to figure out why she was here. If the cameras and cheering hadn’t given it away, the voice blasting out about placing bets would’ve told her everyone in the ruined city was about become lambs in a slaughter. A slaughter of their own making, it seemed. She wanted no part of it. She wasn’t even sure how she’d gotten here. She sighed. She’d counted 27 other people. Most didn’t seem too threatening. One of them was even running around screaming about falling asleep and the world being destroyed. He wouldn’t be a problem at all, not if he kept up like that. There were only three that seemed particularly worrisome. The one with the dogs could be problem. The man himself looked harmless enough, but those dogs…..If she could take them out of the picture somehow, she was nearly certain he would be too grief-stricken to hurt her before she took care of him. Assuming she needed to. If she could get him on her side, she could use those dogs to her advantage….. Then there was the one with what looked like spikes piercing straight through his head, right through his eyes. She wasn’t sure how the man could even see after something like that, but anyone who could withstand that much pain and survive was a threat. She’d have to watch him closely. And keep as far away from him as possible. And then the horrific thing called Figgldygrak. It reminded her of the creatures from her childhood nightmares. All random parts, nothing matching. It didn’t make sense. Whoever created it certainly had a twisted sense of science. Some things should never exist, and that creature was definitely one of them. She hoped one of the others took care of it soon, because she had no desire to be any closer to it than she already was. It was hideous. Keira forced herself to stop thinking about the others. She wasn’t a killer. She couldn’t be. She’d just have to stay away from everyone. She stood up, crouching against the wall and keeping to the shadows so she wouldn’t attract any attention. Best if everyone forgot she was there. She might just survive that way. Maybe. She dodged around some rubble, and entered one of the buildings lining the street, heading up to the partially collapsed second floor. She found a place to relax, where she could watch anyone entering the building, but no one could see her. She sat back and wrapped her arms around her body to keep warm in the chill air. After a few minutes, she unknowingly started quietly humming a strange tune. I'm going to try to RP more this game than I usually do. At least, that's what I'm saying right now. We'll see if it holds true to the game, but I'm hoping it does. I've got a pretty decent arc for Keira and I want to see it play out in the course of the game, whatever happens.
  3. That's far from being the longest evil doc. LG2 was a little longer than that (124 pages), LG4 was 79 pages (but it had no margins at all, so with the margins, it would be over 100 pages) and the AG's evil doc was 158 pages....And that's not even counting the Urbain Revolution in LG7 (which was not an evil doc).
  4. Yeah, I got up to 10, but I couldn't figure out another 3. Which is funny, because I've been rewatching it with one of my roommates right now. But I don't pay attention to the episode title. This character one is easier though.... Phil Coulson Skye Grant Ward Melinda May Leo Fitz Jemma Simmons Nick Fury Maria Hill Raina Garrett Antoine Triplett Mack Deathlok Ace Peterson Victoria Hand Jasper Sitwell Peggy Carter Daniel Whitehall Calvin (Skye's dad--I'm pretty sure his name is Calvin, anyway) Camilla Reyes Lady Sif Lorelai I wish actors/actresses counted. I could've gotten a few more that I couldn't remember the names of. Like Amy Acker's character. And Dichen Lachman. Name 6 characters who appear in both Marvel movies and tv shows. Bonus points (and an upvote) if you can name the actor who had a bit part in a Marvel movie and a main role in one of the tv shows (he played two different characters).
  5. The Marvel one-shots are the short films Marvel released. They vary in length from 4 min to 15 min. You can find one each on the blu-rays of Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Iron Man 3, and Thor: The Dark World. (So there are 5 of them total, currently)
  6. Everyone, let's keep things polite in here. Even if you don't like something, calling it an annoying rat isn't the best way to go about expressing your dislike, and on the flip side, if someone says they don't like something you like, that doesn't mean you can say that they're impolite. This is a fun discussion thread, so let's keep it that way. Thank you!

  8. Ideally, the assault team won't even need to use the weapons. I think most of us are agreed that preceding the attack with an EMP and then an LRAD is the way to go regardless. Hopefully, the EMP will knock out the warp tech (though it's unlikely it will), and the LRAD will be set to a frequency that won't affect humans but will affect the elephants (presumably), and if that works, it'll incapacitate them. In my mind, we're hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. If both the EMP and the LRAD work, the team will go in there and take the Chargers without firing a single shot. But if the LRAD doesn't work, the team does need to be able to protect themselves somehow. I completely agree that taking hostages is the only thing that can help us right now. Killing them would only incite all the Charger's ire, and--assuming there aren't already multiple War-Herds involved--they'd likely send more to wipe us all out if the current one isn't enough. At least with hostages of our own (that are alive and untouched), they'll have to rethink their strategy. And that's another thing--we need the hostages to stay alive with all their body parts intact. While yes, we should study them, that does not include taking them apart, as I think some here have had in mind. That would help our knowledge of them far more than otherwise, but I'm betting it would also mean the Chargers would get supremely upset and nothing would stop them from wiping man off the face of the Earth. Which is the exact thing we're trying to avoid. Let's try play this as much to their war-culture as we can--taking hostages and releasing them unharmed should our terms be met.
  9. ....I hate you all. That's a horrible idea. And I would refuse to talk anyway.
  10. I'm in agreement with the assault team going in with lethal weapons. Blaze made a good point about the Chargers taking everyone out in the switch from non-lethal to the lethal weapons. Additionally, there's no way to be certain the non-lethal weapons would even be effective. Tranq's and the like might not work on the Chargers and even if they did, we wouldn't know what setting/how much to use on them. Best to go lethal with the weapons. The goal would still be to take a few of them alive though, if at all possible.
  11. I'm trying to change my PR image, remember? And anyway, I do think it's overkill. While it's meant to be a QF, it's also supposed to be a game, and if there's a mechanic that can potentially wipe out every player but one, that's a problem. Even bartburg's Spiking a Koloss-blooded mechanic wasn't that bad, since that was just a rampage that killed half the people the person was in PM communication with (and I'm pretty sure that's the bloodiest built-in mechanic played thus far, even though it never came up in-play).
  12. Predominantly non-lethal weaponry, but it would be best if they had lethal with them if necessary. Ideally, by directing an EMP at the barn and then following it up immediately with the LRAD, we won't need lethal weaponry, and we can just take the Chargers, but as this is worst case scenario, we should at least give the assault team the ability to defend themselves to the death if it comes to that.
  13. If the circle is big enough, it could kill over half the players in the game, or even everyone except the traitor attacking. While that could be hilarious, it also seems a little--well--overkill.
  14. I like this, but I see one potential problem. Player A protects Player C and you have a circle of protection. Who dies then?
  15. From the first contact with them: While they don't refer to him as a commander, he's the First Lord over the Twentieth War-Herd. He's clearly very important. I definitely think we need to track the cell phones before doing anything else. However, we should also plan for the worst. The worst in this scenario is that the hostages have been moved off-world. If that's the case, and we still want to get those hostages back, we're going to need leverage to do it, and the best leverage that I can think of is the First Lord of the War-Herd. Even if there are multiple War-Herds involved in this attack on Earth, they'll be a little more wary of us if we've captured one of their First Lords. It's not ideal, and we'll want the information from the other hostages cell phones before deciding, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're not on Earth. Or there are multiple War-Herds attacking.
  16. I've been following this for the last day or so, and now I finally have something to say. Why do we need to send in a team now? I understand the point of sending a team in before, but now that we've made contact and know without a doubt that the whirring sound is warp technology, and that there are no more hostages besides Kyle left in the barn, what's the point? HWTBTS is in there along with a bunch of other elephants. I think it would be more beneficial to use the LRAD to incapacitate the elephants on the ground, including HWTBTS. They took hostages, and we can take some too. They might just leave us alone if we have their commander. Maybe. Also, if everyone in the barn except for Kyle was moved, let's track their cell phones. Even a dead cell phone can be tracked if the battery hasn't been removed and I doubt the elephants know that. They hadn't taken the phones away from the hostages before, and I rather doubt they did afterwards, so let's see where the warp sent them. That could give us a better idea of where they're going to attack next.
  17. The above is from the Spectator's Lounge in LG9. So I'm guessing the answer to that question, Maill, is yes. (Not sure how the first post of this lost my text after the quotes....)
  18. As requested, I'm closing the thread down. Thanks, Hero, for running a great game! Despite the issues with the rooms, it seemed to run well, and it looks like everyone had a good time. And as always, if any of you would like to try your hand at running a game yourself, please get a hold of Gamma, Meta or me. Not only will we get you added to the list of your choice, but we'd all be more than willing to help you out in any way we can. You can also ask questions and get some hints and feedback from everyone in our Art of Game Creation thread. With all the games that we've run so far, we have plenty of experienced GMs that can help you refine any game you're thinking about. Lastly, if you need to find a new outlet for manipulation and intrigue, sign-ups are currently going on for Mid-Range 5: Competing Realities, so you're quite welcome to get your daily/hourly elimination fix there.
  19. Kazahkstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan. WLIU, name 15 actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  20. .... Space truckers who want more food. Well, now I've gone super-dark and am convinced you mean the Reavers in Firefly/Serenity even though I know it doesn't fit the other hints... Seriously though. The Reavers would want more food. O.o
  21. This reminds me of Guardians of the Galaxy, and the bit about Star-Lord and the smugglers, though I'm not sure where food comes into it, so that's probably wrong.
  22. Exactly. The GM list is in the Sanderson Elimination General Rules thread. Second post. However, some people have to pass when it gets to their turn (they don't lose their spot when they have to pass), because they don't have time to GM a game. That's the case with both the LG and the MR right now. The next LG game is either going to be Newan and Aonar or Wyrm, if they can't. The next MR is Alvron, and he'll be posting sign-ups in the next day or two. To get things back on track, we'll let the MR run for a week or so before starting sign-ups for the LG. Haha. I'm not worried. I was Torturer of Heralds for a good 3 days. That's quite long enough for me. And lastly, I want to say something about upvotes during games. We've had two issues now that bend the Fair Play rules rather heavily. Granted, we don't mention upvotes in the etiquette policy (that will be recitified shortly), but I still expect the dead and others who know who the eliminators are to not give that away to the players in the game by upvoting living players who vote for the eliminators. What do I mean by this? We had a cycle this game (Cycle 5) where someone (or multiple someones) upvoted every person who voted for an eliminator (with the exception of Meta). Those who did not vote for an eliminator did not get an upvote. Certain players pay attention to upvotes, and if they notice that multiple people all voting for one person are all getting upvoted, but no one else is, that's a pretty telling sign that an eliminator has been found. Especially in a game like this, where there wasn't even any reasons or commentary to go along with the votes. It was just the votes. So people were getting upvoted based solely on the votes. Please note that I'm not saying don't upvote. If someone makes a really good case for another player, and you want to upvote them for it, go right ahead. But if you're dead and you know who the eliminators are, you should probably do the same thing for eliminators who make really good cases for a villager, just to stay unbiased (and if you can't, you probably shouldn't be upvoting while the game is running). I want to mention an example in the AG, which was the first time we had an issue with upvotes potentially revealing eliminators. This post. In it, Newan made a pretty decent case, although it was a little brusque. Normally, I would expect a post like that to acquire somewhere between 1-3 upvotes. However, it has 6, and I'm pretty sure at one point, it had 7. Why? Because of who he was voting for and calling out. Both Weiry and Claincy were eliminators that game. If the living players had been paying more attention to the upvotes, the dead's reaction to that post would've been a clear giveaway that both Claincy and Weiry were eliminators. Like I said, this doesn't mean you can't upvote good posts. However, when they're good posts and they're also voting for eliminators, use your best judgement. I saw Newan's post when it had 2 other upvotes. I upvoted it. Had I'd seen it instead when it had 4-5, I wouldn't have touched it, especially when all the other posts around it didn't have nearly the same amount of upvotes. Basically, we don't want any messages crossing over from the dead to the living, especially messages like "This person you're voting for is an eliminator. Kill them." We'll add something about the rep system to the etiquette policy (found here), but I figured I'd say something in this thread as well, just to ensure more people see it. Thank you in advance for paying attention to this in the future, and also for being such great players/people. These games are great because you guys make them great.
