Long Game 14: To Shatter a Shard
little wilson replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I don't know if you should grant that, Stink. He sounds too desperate. Plus, I'm inferior to no one, even if I'm simply a Normal Worldhopper. How dare you call me inferior?!- 1225 replies

Yes. I support that request. Not that I don't like talking to you, Cultivation, because you're an utter delight, but....Seonid and Kipper have been my buddies this entire game and to forsake this partnership would be a travesty.- 1225 replies

Long Game 14: To Shatter a Shard
little wilson replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Ha. You're so funny. 5 may have happened but my death did not and that's just disappointing. I suppose I should've guessed he'd target Shallan. Sibling rivalry and all. Makes sense. Still. I was Cultivation. Okay, fine, I wasn't Cultivation when I would've died but that's beside the point. I wanted to take that hit. I wanted to die. I was ready to die and now I just feel.....useless. *sigh* To the new holder of Cultivation: Can I get a PM with you? I told you to do something if I survived and I don't think that's a wise choice anymore.- 1225 replies

Personally, I support the idea of a puppet master. I can see what Meta is saying, and I agree that inactivity is unavoidable. This is one of the reasons I'm so entirely opposed to the Contribution Crusade, because it conflates inactives and lurkers and while lurking can be affected by a Crusade, inactivity cannot because every reason people have of going inactive, whether it be that they wanted a certain role/alignment, real life was too busy, they forgot about the game, or they got bored are things that can't be changed. They will always happen. But the fact remains that they mess with the balance of the game. Some games, they affect the balance a lot more than others, particularly when the inactive is an eliminator, though it can easily affect the balance when the inactive is a villager as well. It also messes with faction games rather heavily, since those tend to be role madness and if one team has multiple inactives while another team is stocked full of actives, the inactive team is pretty well screwed. GMs balance the games based on the number of players who sign up. While inactivity should be taken into account, that's an incredibly hard thing to guess. You don't know who's going to go inactive. You might be able to guess at a couple people who have a habit of going inactive, but that's just one of the reasons people go inactive. Real life reasons are unpredictable and they can happen to anyone regardless of prior game activity. I think having a role like the puppet master is simply another way to adjust for the inactives. It's a way to work around it. Simple as that. Yes, the inactive will always be a problem, and there's nothing that can be done to fix that. But that doesn't mean we have to sacrifice the game balance that the GMs work hard on all because of something like inactivity. Sure, we can't make those inactives be more active, but we can at least keep the role, whether that's through a pinch-hitter, a sort "Snapping" mechanic where a regular becomes the inactives role and the inactive turns regular, or a puppet master. They're all just different ways of handling the same problem. My biggest issue with the puppet master is that it needs to be something announced at the beginning of the game as a possibility. If the GM does not announce that it's an option, it shouldn't used, even if most of the eliminator team is inactive. While that really sucks for the eliminators and I feel for them even if I'm on the opposing team, finding out that one of your opponents whom you thought was dead is still controlling an inactive eliminator over 4 cycles after the fact is a bit of a surprise. So this can't be a secret role. It needs to be made clear up front. Obviously not who the puppet master is when/if it's needed, but it cannot be a sudden addition that leaves the other team thinking that "these players are inactive and therefore not a threat because they haven't been online in so long." No. A puppet master means that everyone has a chance of being a threat, regardless of activity and both teams should be aware of that.

Long Game 14: To Shatter a Shard

I will also vote for Phattemer, since I would prefer a tie not happen. Also, I've reconciled with my death, and I face it with open arms. Poison may be a terrible way to go, but it had to happen eventually. I've given up Life, for I will not let Hatred have it. Plus, I still need to get that Dodo Award. Alv can't keep it all to himself forever. Sure, he's a tactical genius who I'm nearly certain was the mastermind behind the OC attack plan (really, though. Investing in the person who is to hold Odium, and then passing Odium during the day so it can't be roleblocked, and then one person makes both OC kills, making it harder to bloodseal or roleblock? And while making those kills, investing in the next holder and passing Odium again? And keeping that routine up for multiple cycles? Yeah. Pure, freaking genius), and therefore he's just as much a threat to any team as I am, but I still want that award. I'm coming for it, Alv. It's mine.- 1225 replies

Apparently I should've done 40 instead of 35. I know some were missed (besides the ones already mentioned Liechtenstein's capital is Vaduz and Malta's capital is Valletta), but that was answered a lot faster than I'd thought it would be. So good job. Also, I was accepting Bern as the capital so you were good there.

Since the terms of the game are to answer the question and if you get it wrong, post a funny picture, and those terms have been met, I'm just going to say this: Guangzhou, and here's a funny gif. Because i like gifs more. And now, to get this game back on track, another question in the geography category. WLIU, name 35 European capitals of sovereign nations.

I'm going to Tucanos tonight and I'm going to consume an unhealthy amount of meat and grilled pineapple. And it will be delicious. For those who don't know--which is probably most of you--Tucanos is a Brazilian grill restaurant that has 9 locations around the US (from Idaho/Utah to Virginia). And it's amazing. The servers bring around platters of pork and beef cooked in a variety of different ways with different spices and give you samples of each (if you so choose. I decline on the garlic-cooked ones because those would probably kill me). They also specialize in grilled pineapple that is gone far too soon after they give it to you. But anyway, you end up falling into this meat-coma that's just fantastic. If you like meat, that is. They also have a pretty good salad and fruit bar, but I don't really go for those.

Long Game 14: To Shatter a Shard
little wilson replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I highly doubt Hael's compatriot would've given up Odium to you, which means that Hael invested in you, and after he died, the Shard passed to you. Because you had both the investment and Odium on Night 7, you made two attacks, both on me (btw, you're on my kill list for that). And then you attacked Shallan. So....yeah. You did. *ahem* Here: Care to change that story? 1. I suppose this is potentially possible, though Seonid isn't evil, and I know he isn't. He's been targeted by Survival twice now and he's probably being targeted by Survival again tonight because Survival is a troll. The only way for this to be the case would be if he somehow figured out who the last two OCs were during Day 8, and invested in one of them, turning evil temporarily. He then would've roleblocked you so Phatt could make a kill, and then he promptly would've turned neutral again. The only problem with this scenario is that we didn't really have any idea who the OC's were at that point, so randomly investing in someone hoping to find an OC likely wouldn't have been very successful. Plus, Seonid invested in me. 2. Didn't happen. Not only because I know he didn't have an Odium investment (Endowment used Dominion on Seonid, redirecting a kill back onto Seonid himself Night 7, so if Seonid had been invested by Odium, he would've hit himself but I was the only one attacked that night) but also because Seonid wasn't previously evil. He couldn't have been. What it breaks down to is this: Alv would've had to force Survival to invest in Seonid on Cycle 2. While I'm pretty sure Alv had the knowledge required for the roles at that point (meaning he definitely knew who Hoid was and I suspect he knew who Survival was), I don't think he'd realized that he could force Survival to invest in Hoid. I don't think he realized that was an option until I mentioned it in Cycle 3. By then, Hael was about to be roleblocked and officially caught so they needed to redirect Seonid's roleblock to protect Odium. And then on Cycle 4, Alv redirected Ruin from Seonid to Antillar. Even if somehow they did turn Seonid neutral and Seonid had gone evil and for some reason Odium hadn't invested in Seonid, which is why he didn't hit himself on Night 7, there's still the question of my own survival that night. Seonid knew about Alvom's Lifeless, but the only lash on me was from Seonid. All the other lashes are accounted for. But I was both lashed and had the Lifeless. Why would Seonid protect me if he was evil and knew I was about to be double tapped? Why would he even offer to protect me? I didn't ask for his protection because I didn't trust him at that point. He chose to protect me. I don't think anyone would've batted an eye if he's said that he was lashing himself, because we'd had him do that at various points as well. If Seonid was evil, I would've died Night 7. There is literally no reason for an OC team with Seonid on it to want to keep me alive at that point. Seonid didn't know he was under suspicion and the last two were pretty well hidden (one of them in particular). They could've easily knocked out PMs and ridden out the rest of the game to a win. But this didn't happen. Conclusion: Seonid wasn't and isn't evil. 3. True. 4. False.- 1225 replies

Long Game 14: To Shatter a Shard
little wilson replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Let it be known that my investment of Phattemer failed. He is a Shard. He can only be Odium. Let it also be known that Clanky, who is Ruin, must also be an OC. Why am I announcing this? Well, Phatt knows he was invested in. They know it was me. They'll want to try to kill me. And I just want to get this information out in case I die. I could keep it with Kipper and Seonid, but the thread's been dead so here's some fun info to discuss.- 1225 replies

Long Game 14: To Shatter a Shard
little wilson replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yeah.....Sorry about that? I thought I'd narrowed down the last couple OC's. I turned out to be dreadfully wrong. :/ And I was on such a good streak at the beginning. 4 in a row. Though I suppose with the way this end game is going, it's a good thing that happened, since they'd be mopping us pretty efficiently if we hadn't gotten those 4... I'm really curious who the last 2 are too. And not so they can die, but they've done very well, and I want to know who to watch in the future.- 1225 replies

Heirs to the Final Empire: Roleplaying Thread
little wilson replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Inactive RPs
Silence reigned as the court waited. Seconds passed, then minutes, as Lord Vinid refused to respond. A few quiet coughs sounded as the hour mark approached; had Vinid fallen asleep? But no, he sat still in his seat, seeming to shrink down and hope he remained unnoticed. Erikell was nowhere in sight, apparently having slipped out at some point earlier in the proceedings. An hour of near silence became two before Lord Zerrung attempted to refocus the court, unable to stand the bemused quiet. Gwynne listened to Zerrung raise that Vinid and Erikell’s silence must be an agreement to their guilt, and while she agreed, she couldn’t help but note that Zerrung was missing a few key points. When Zerrung stopped and silence fell over the courtroom once again, Gwynne stood. “Thank you, Lord Zerrung, for trying to get this trial back on course. I agree with you that Vinid and Erikell’s continued silence is tacit agreement of their guilt, but I fear it is also an attempt to ignore the charges placed against them in hopes that everything will blow over and they’ll be able to escape this farce of a trial with merely a slap on the wrist rather than the harsh punishment they deserve. “I’d like to address the other Houses--the ‘neutral’ Houses, so to speak. The Houses who aren’t directly involved. Some of you might not want to take sides in this matter. You might be thinking that simply not voting would be better than voting one way or the other. However, if you abstain from voting, you are taking a side. A no vote is the same as a vote of Not Guilty. It’s practically a vote of acquittal. By abstaining from voting, you’re taking Vinid and Erikell’s side. I understand if you’re uncertain of their guilt. They’ve not defended themselves through their own words; you only have the accusations of other Houses levied against them. Think about this though: if the charges are true, and they’re not sufficiently punished for their actions, what do you think they’ll do after this trial? Do you think they’ll continue? Their parents attacked a House unprovoked, simply because they were bored and wanted a little fun. They themselves furthered their parents crimes by planning an attack on one of The Lord Ruler’s own cities, against his chosen Steward. Their antics are getting bigger, and that is a trend that I think we will continue to see. Who will they hit next? The obvious target--Tekiel? Possibly. One of his defenders, like my own House or House Zerrung? Also possibly. Or they could go for an unsuspecting target--someone they deem will be easy to exploit. One of you. “You can ignore the threat they pose to the Noble Houses and the Final Empire right now and continue to wait until they’ve struck again, or we can take action against them here and now, in this trial. We can punish them for what they’ve done and that punishment will deter them from seeking to further harm our House and The Lord Ruler. As long as they feel they have free reign to act as they please without fear of retribution, they will continue to use their power against us. Against all of us. I ask you all to vote Guilty when the time comes.” I know there are Houses that wish to remain neutral in this. But what I’ve said above is true. You’re not neutral if you abstain from voting. You are taking a side. That ⅔ is based on all the players. If enough of you abstain to create a ⅔ majority for abstaining, they’ll get off with very little in terms of punishment (probably. I’m not actually sure what Wyrm is going to do with an abstain majority). And if a ⅔ majority isn’t reached, they’ll escape with a lesser punishment, and I guarantee that that lesser punishment will not be severe enough to deter them from further actions. As for who those actions will be against, I’ve no idea, though I have my guesses. Now, if you don’t feel you’re likely to be a target of their attacks, you might be disinclined to vote against them. If you’re not allied with a House that is likely to be attacked, you have no motivation. Except this: Vinid and Erikell are only loyal to themselves and each other. Alliances matter not to them. After all, Vinid is the General of the Lord Ruler’s armies. Who would dare oppose her? They don’t have to worry about petty alliances when they can trust each other implicitly because they’re siblings. I doubt they’re focusing much at all on forming alliances and much less on even keeping alliances. And the alliances other Houses have matter even less. After all, Tekiel was able to muster a force of 50+ MP by the end of Gen 2 to retaliate against Erikell for Erikell//Vinid’s attack on Keep Tekiel. I’m not going to lie--some of my own forces were in that number. I also had troops at Fadrex. I’m not the only one either. Tekiel has allies, and Erikell and Vinid know it, even if they don’t know who. But they don’t care. Because they have the bigger force. They’re the biggest bully on the playground and they’ve no problem throwing their weight around and forcing others to capitulate to their whims. If they come after you, will you capitulate? Will you want to? Or will you fight back? If you wish to let them continue, abstain or go all-in with them and vote Not Guilty. If you wish to swear only to the tyranny of The Lord Ruler and no one else, vote Guilty. You leave yourself open to them if you do not.- 868 replies

Long Game 14: To Shatter a Shard
little wilson replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Just so everyone is aware, Ruin, who I happen to trust rather implicitly, roleblocked Phatt last night, so he can't be an OC. Lopen knows this, so I find it curious that he's voting for Phatt even though he knows that Phatt can't be an eliminator. What's the logic, Lopen? How could Phatt possibly have made one of the OC kills last night if he was roleblocked?- 1225 replies

Hey! I haven't requested any PMs in forever, and most of the ones that I did request aren't even being used now! I've had 3 attempts on my life. 3! And now you're upping the bounty? I thought you were on my side, Joe. I see I was mistaken.- 1225 replies

When I was younger (grade school), my dream job was an architect. Then in early college/university, I thought a lawyer or psychologist sounded pretty awesome. Writer has also been frequently tossed around. Now my dream job would be a travel agent. I love planning trips. Not just for me. For anyone. I love researching airfares and hotels and all of that. Unfortunately, that's a dying industry. I realized my realistic dream job earlier this year. My aunt, who was a travel agent, told me about this time a deal came through for London. $400 roundtrip. So she called up her sister and they took off Thursday morning (I think it was Monday she saw the deal) and came back on Sunday. I want to be able to do that. So now my dream job is one that I enjoy, where I make enough for a good travel fund, and where I can give short notice for a short trip. Take off on a Thursday and be back the next Monday for work after having traveled to London or Sydney or pretty much anywhere. Yeah. That sounds great.

Yep. Alv has it. He's at 11 games in a row right now. He'll be at 12 if/when he dies in the QF. (sorry, Alv. I think I'm just sort of assuming you're going to meet your fate there at this point, though I do kind of hope that you'll somehow make it out....)- 1225 replies

1-3? I was going to say 1,2, and 4, but you voted for Eol, so 4 doesn't apply to you. I know 2 does. I'm also going to add a vote to PK. See, I think Alv really did know that I was Cultivation. I don't think he was fooled for a second when Eol told them that I'd said I was covering for Cultivation. He knows me way too well to not see through that major back-tracking I was doing there. But somehow, he got outvoted on who Cultivation was. Hael told me that he thought Orlok was Cultivation because Orlok was one of the first to check the Mass PM. I'm not sure if that's the case, since I didn't check the Mass PM until about 8 hours after I ordered it, since I decided I'd sleep first (and I'm now very glad I made that choice). Eol coming in and saying that I'm covering for Cultivation would help move things away from me despite Alv's probable insistence that it is me. But it doesn't move it any closer to Orlok. But PK hearing from Kipper that Orlok is Cultivation? That would. That would further solidify Hael's own guess and would make it easy to override Alv. Personally, I'm happy he got overridden. I like life. And being Life. It feels good to survive for most of a game. Maybe I'll even fully survive the whole game! (and lose my chance at the Dodo award, unfortunately. ) ....I actually don't think I will survive though. I'm pretty sure I'm going to die now that my trusted bodyguard is no more. RIP Alvom's Lifeless. I owe you much.- 1225 replies

Speaking of reading, in my sophomore year of high school (15-16), I was the only person in my English class to get a B in Reading. However, we used the Accelerated Reader program, so we not only had reading levels (mine was 5.6-12+, so about halfway through fifth grade (10-11) to college/university level) but we also had to take tests on the books we read and the tests accumulated points. I was also the only person in my class to get over 200 points (no one else even got over 100). So why did I get a B? Because Ender's Game was one of the books I read and it has a 5.4 reading level. Never mind that Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide were higher. Or any of the other books I read that were 11-12+ reading levels. Nope. My teacher didn't care about that. All she could focus on was the .2 points below my reading level that Ender's Game was. So I got a B. And this is one of the reasons I did not get anywhere near a 4.0 when graduating high school.

Joe started it in signups. If you look through the tags in the main thread, a couple of them are "Another day" "another destiny" "this neverending game" and I saw them and so I finished the stanza and the rest is history.- 1225 replies

Interesting. Which confirms that the Bloodsealer who was supposed to be guarding Hael on Night 5 when Odium killed Endowment and said that he was guarding Hael was lying and is therefore an OC. Fascinating.- 1225 replies
