Mid-Range Game 10: Divided Loyalties
little wilson replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Not exactly. In most games with secondary win cons, the secondary is listed that it's an additional win. Like bonus points. You need both win conditions in order to win this game. The only reason the faction-win con is secondary is because I didn't want people to think that this was more of a faction game than it was an elimination game. It's driven by the elimination aspect of it. Not the faction. That's the difference. But the faction game is a very relevant part of the win conditions and if you're on the side with less Radiants at the end of the game, you do lose.- 937 replies

Mid-Range Game 10: Divided Loyalties
little wilson replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Yes. I know the rules are vague on this, so I could let this go with Kas' troll, but I always intended for one faction to have all four Orders and the other faction to have an extra of one of the other three. If that wasn't always the plan, I'd leave you all wondering, but it was, so I think you should know. Does the Elsecaller have to change both role and alignment? No. They can choose one or the other if they want. Can the Artifabrian take effects happening to the dead? No. Also, a note about the MR7/elimination game within a faction game comments. MR7 was a faction game. While there was a hidden faction, they were not eliminators. This is clear by the fact that they had no team kill ability, which is inherent in eliminators. This game is not a pure faction game. Yes, there are factions and they (probably) cannot win together, but this game most definitely hinges around the Diagrammists. If the factions go for the faction war, even if one of them completely wipes out the other faction, they cannot win so long as there are Diagrammists still alive. This is an elimination game. You're perfectly welcome to team up and go pure elimination mode on the Diagrammists. It won't break the game. Just know that one of your teams will probably lose if that happens. Since it's also a faction game. But hey, one of them will win, too, so....it's all good, right?- 937 replies

Mid-Range Game 10: Divided Loyalties
little wilson replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
We had to adjust some things while sending out PMs. Thaidakar/Restares and the Commanders weren't actually supposed to know the ranks of those under them, but due to a miscommunication, all the higher-ups learned the identities of just the people reporting to them directly rather than the people under them (as in, Thaidakar/Restares only learned the identites of the Commanders, and not the whole faction, and the Commanders only learned the identities of their leader and the Captains who report to them). So when the rest of the info was given as per the rules, it would've been easy enough for the Commanders to work out who was which rank, since the only additions were the Regulars. If the Commanders know, the leader should know. Hence, all the higher-ups know the ranks of the people below them, but they do not know who reports to whom.- 937 replies

Announcement: This is a limited comms game. For this game, that means that only the Bondsmith and the Runners can request PMs to be created. Do not create any game PMs with other players . The Bondsmith and Runners can use their abilities to request a PM to be created on the next cycle. There should be no PM communication on this first cycle. Thank you.- 937 replies

Mid-Range Game 10: Divided Loyalties
little wilson replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
We've got 35 players right now. Since there are two factions, we need an even number of players for them to start on equal footing. If we don't get another player, that's fine. While doing the distributions, we'll just do an RNG to choose a pinch hitter (since I'm certain someone will go inactive and there's no inactivity filter right now...), so we'll still get the even number, but everyone will still be able to play as well. Also, I just discovered I have a meeting at 9:30 tomorrow morning, so in order to make sure Kas and I have time to get the game running sometime between 9-10 am MST, allowing for any snags we may hit, we'll close signups at 8am, so in about 11 1/2 hours from the time of this post. If you'd like to spectate, shoot me and Kas a PM and we'll get you a link to the spec doc. Similarly, if you're interested in pinch hitting (taking over for an inactive player), also let us know and we'll jot that down. Thanks everyone, and get ready for the fun to begin!- 937 replies

I didn't have major riots, but some of my properties rioted and didn't produce anything for that turn. That was it, though I know some people had some of their properties burnt to the ground. A little bit of MP loss as well. And whatever you used on the skaa riots to bribe or get them under control.- 868 replies

Mid-Range Game 10: Divided Loyalties
little wilson replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
No. I considered the lynch being a possible action to redirect, but I ultimately decided against that. EDIT: Also, while I said the bare minimum for all roles is 26, the ideal is 30 (though it can go over that). Additionally, since the factions are even, it would be best for there to be an even number of players, since the point is for the Ghostbloods and the Sons of Honor to start on even footing in terms of number of players. If we don't have an even number at the start, I'm considering doing an RNG that will pick a player and that player will be a pinch-hitter for the first person to go inactive (which is almost certainly going to happen).- 937 replies

48 hours. It's day/night combined into one turn. Next Sunday (or early Monday morning, depending on your timezone). 9am Sunday MST (my timezone), 4pm GMT, or midnight Monday in Singapore (Kas' timezone). I was planning on not giving them any extra communication. They'd just have the thread and know that if they're not in sync at the end, we'd flip a coin to decide which vote takes precedence for them both. Then the other would be switched that.- 937 replies

Mid-Range Game 10: Divided Loyalties
little wilson replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Player List: Seixa (Phattemer): A man who believes he's a Skybreaker Squire John Doe (Stink): A man who thinks he's a fish Locke Tekiel (Orlok) Agrigar Leiken (Adavantos) Aleral (Araris) Kholak Bagar (Honey Badger) Alycia Kavdar (RippleGylf) Walter Kysley (polking): an Azish soldier Krippe (Kipper): a Urithiru postmaster Malarn (Maill): a man who stinks Sheon Idris (Seonid): the late King of Arelon, somehow in Urithiru? Baheal Edr (Hael): son of the late Ableah Yallah (Tony Shark) Arran Faenel (Aonar) Hellscythe (Hellscythe) Deadeye (Kynedath) Slalassalas (Paranoid King): swordfighter who's "defeated" many Horneaters Kael of the Forge (Elkanah): an eager emigrant Frank "Gold Frank" Au Faliu (Feligon): a pirate with an nonflying(?) pirate ship, looking for his brother Starri (Starry Smite): an overlooked brightlady Citona Vinid (Shallan) Arina (Arraenae) Torren (Twei): an ex-Skybreaker Radiant, ditched by his spren Inor Haze (Creccio) Maximilianos Sebarial (Venture) Lopen (The Mighty Lopen) Jain (Lightsworn Panda): a walking, talking panda Moros (DeathClutch) Edurams (Sart) Bort (Bort) Mace (Mace Windu): a strange man who wields a purple sword-thing Ashei Ghetti (Burnt Spaghetti) Cla (Clanky) Elba (Elbereth) Zas (Zas): a creative shoemaker seeking flesh for new shoes Lorna (Alvron): a huntress Clarifications: Q: How exactly does Adhesion work? A: They will not have any extra communication. They'd just have the thread and know that if they're not in sync at the end, we'd flip a coin to decide which vote takes precedence for them both. Then the other would be switched to that. (So it would look like vote manipulation) Q: We're going to need a lot of players for the Command structure to work properly, yes? A: That's another reason why I've said that 26 is the minimum for a full docket of roles. That includes the positions. I can make it work with 26, but more would definitely be better. Q: How long are cycles? A: 48 hours. It's day/night combined into one turn. Q: When does this game start? A: Q: Are roles revealed upon death? A: Only who died is revealed. Not role, not alignment. That's what the reverse seekers are for--the Veristatilian Scholars. They seek the dead to discover role and alignment. Q: Can Positions be assigned to someone of any role, or are they roles in and of themselves? A: The former. The positions are unaffiliated with the roles. Q: Are votes considered actions in this game? A: No. Q: Can Diagrammists be Thaidakar or Restares? A: Thaidakar and Restares are not safe roles.- 937 replies

The Setting You’ve followed Dalinar and his army to the lost city of Urithiru. With Alethi and other peoples arriving more and more every day, the city is becoming a rather bustling place, which is perfect for an agent such as yourself. What better way to subtly manipulate the decisions--especially with the Desolation nigh at hand? Unfortunately for you, you’re not the only one trying to control what’s going on. You’ve learned that there is another group working against your cause, and there are even rumors of a third group, undermining the other two. The Sons of Honor and the Ghostbloods have never gotten along, and now is no different. However, as people start disappearing from the city, you fear you might have to work together to solve the problem. Some of the disappearances are people you’ve never met and you think they might work for the other side, but others are people you know. Maybe the rumors are true. Maybe someone is trying to remove the other players in this politically manipulative game. Can you find them before they kill you too? The Teams There are three teams, spread between two factions. The members of each faction will not be publicly announced in the thread, but you will have an idea of who is on your team (more on that in a bit). Players’ alignments are not revealed upon death. Sons of Honor You’re a devout Vorin, and if you could go back to the times of old and bring the Hierocracy back, you would. In fact, you’re convinced that all you need to do is find the Voidbringers, because once they return, the Heralds will be back. And how can anyone deny Vorin dominance when their very gods are saving the people from the Desolation? Ghostbloods You’re a Ghostblood. Fascinated with the Desolations and the Parshendi, you’re not interested in causing another Desolation, and you certainly aren’t interested in another Hierocracy. You’d like nothing better than to stop the Everstorm and the Desolation from taking place, and you hope by being in Urithiru, you can have some effect in keeping it at bay. Diagrammists You believe in the Diagram written by King Taravangian. Devoted to bringing stability to Roshar, you’ve noticed that these two other groups, the Ghostbloods and the Sons of Honor, only seek to destabilize the political structures, making them easier to bend to their will. To stop them, you and a number of other Diagrammists have infiltrated the Ghostblood and Sons of Honor ranks, and you are intent to end their manipulations in Urithiru once and for all. You have one group kill per cycle and will have access to a Google Doc in which to conspire. The Roles To further your faction’s cause, you all have abilities that help you perform your tasks. Roles will be evenly distributed between the factions, and then randomly distributed among all faction members (including Diagrammists). Roles are not revealed upon death. Knight Radiants Amazingly, some of you have shown surgebinding potential and are well on your way to becoming Knight Radiants. With causes such as the ones you’re fighting for, you don’t expect to have any Radiants from Orders like the Windrunners, who rely far too much on honor, or the Skybreakers, who are driven by justice, which is something you tend to bend if it suits your purposes. However, not all the Orders are stuffy, and some of them are even pretty useful to your faction. Both factions have four Knight Radiants in their ranks, equally distributed between the factions. However, because there is only one Bondsmith in the game, the faction without the Bondsmith will get a random, fourth Radiant. Bondsmith - You’re all about uniting people under a common cause, and you believe your faction’s goals are the only way to bring about true unity in these trying times. You have access to the surges of Tension and Adhesion, but you can only use one per cycle. Tension - Each cycle, you can create a PM with one player. Send in your request to the GMs, who will set it up for you at the end of the cycle (accounting for any redirection and/or other blocking abilities). This PM can continue for as long as both participants are alive. Adhesion - Uniting people is what you do. Nothing brings you more joy than bringing two people together--particularly if those two people used to be enemies. You can choose two people each cycle, and on the following cycle, those two people must ultimately vote identically. The GM will PM the lucky two to tell them of this new, unbreakable (at least for a day) friendship. Edgedancer - You don’t care much for your faction's grand plans, but you figure that if you’re not there, the little details will get overlooked. Plus, you like putting your abilities to good use. You have access to the surges of Friction and Progression, but you can only use one per cycle. Progression - With the power of Regrowth, you like saving things, whether it’s making a nearly dead plant grow or healing an injured person. You can protect any player from one kill attempt each cycle, including lynch. However, you cannot save yourself. Friction - You’re so fast, you can sneak into someone’s private rooms, read all their messages, and get out before being seen. You can spy on all outgoing PM’s from one player per cycle. The recipient of the messages is not included. Lightweaver - A true artist, you’re less concerned about who wins and more concerned that such an historic time is documented. You’re still choosing to help out your faction, though, because what better way to make sure things stay interesting? You have access to the surges of Illumination and Transformation, but you can only use one per cycle. Illumination - redirect one random action from target to a different target Transformation - change a vote (including no vote) to another player Elsecaller - Some people might wonder why an Elsecaller, one of the more benevolent orders, is caught up in such schemes, but kindness is all based on perception, right? You believe your faction’s cause is what’s best for everyone, and you’ll do all you can to help people based on that belief. You have access to the surges of Transformation and Transportation, but you can only use one per cycle. Transformation - change the appearance (alignment and role) of a dead player for two cycles. Transportation - prevent any action on them that cycle--except lynches. (self-target) Other Professions Surgeon - You studied medicine in Kharbranth itself, learning at the best hospitals in the world. Your skills are second to none (although there are a few who are equally as good as you are). You can protect any player from one kill attempt per cycle, but you cannot protect yourself. Runner - Trained by one of the fastest messengers alive, you take pride in your speed of delivery. You’re among the fastest in Urithiru, making you a hot commodity. Each cycle, you can create a PM with one player. Send in your request to the GMs, who will set it up for you at the end of the cycle (accounting for any redirection and/or other blocking abilities). This PM can continue for as long as both participants are alive. Artifabrian - Although ardents are the only people allowed to use Soulcasting, it would, to say the very least, be rather naive to expect that rule to be strictly obeyed. As an artifabrian, you have engineered and experimented with a variety of fabrials in order to improve on your designs, some of which push the very boundaries of what is thought possible. Every cycle, you may pick a target. One random action that would affect the target comes to you instead. Ardent - As a member of the ardentia, you are a member of a key group in Alethi society. Being an ardent has its contradictions: while you are free from the customs and constraints governing each gender, your life is not your own; you are considered the property of a lighteyes, and are not permitted to own anything. More importantly, you have exclusive access to knowledge of Soulcasting and fabrials. Using this, you may change a vote (including no vote) to another player (or no one) each cycle. Cook - You learned your impressive culinary skills among the Horneaters, and you can cook a meal like these lowlanders haven’t ever tasted before. You know how to mask the most potent flavors in a dish, and occasionally, you’ve been known to use that skill for less-than-pleasant purposes. You’ve racked up quite the body count with some of your culinary surprises. Each cycle, you can attempt to kill any player. Veristitalian Scholar - For you, the past is never dead; it takes a clever mind to sift through the detritus to reconstruct history objectively--as things truly happened. Where historians seek to paint themselves in the most flattering light, you see yourself as a dispassionate seeker of the truth: for you know that in the past lies the answers to the future. Each cycle, you can research one of the dead to discover alignment and role. Explorer - You’ve been recruited by Dalinar to map out Urithiru. Spending your nights in the uninhabited regions of the lost city, you don’t see much other than your maps, and no one sees you either, until you surface in the morning. Every other cycle, you can prevent any and all actions targeting you, including lynches, from affecting you. Assassin - You’re a master assassin, and you have many skills at your disposal. You’re invisible when you want to be, you have a knack for learning the information you need to get into inaccessible places, and you see things others tend to miss. Unfortunately for you, your assassin services aren’t needed as much here in Urithiru, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use your other skills. You can watch a player any cycle, learning the identity of one random player who targeted them (regardless of whether the action succeeded or not) The Positions Every well-established group has a command structure. The Sons of Honor and Ghostbloods are no different. While not every member knows who all the others are, each one knows someone, and a few have even more knowledge. Positions are assigned randomly, with no distinction between loyal members of the faction and the Diagrammists. Thaidakar (Ghostbloods) and Restares (Sons of Honor) - You are the leader of your group. You know the identity of every member and the position they hold within. Commander - You report directly to your leader. As such, you know his identity. You also know the identities of the people who report to you. This is only a fraction of the members in the group though, as there are multiple Commanders. Captain - Reporting to the Commander, you know his identity but haven’t a clue who the leader is. That’s okay, though. You have enough responsibility as it is. You know the identities of a fraction of the Regular members. Regular - You’re just a regular member of the group, but that doesn’t mean you don’t get to have fun. You’re just as important as the others, except that you don’t quite know who’s on your side. You only know the identity of your Captain. Win Conditions Primary Win Condition Sons of Honor and Ghostbloods: Kill the Diagrammists Diagrammists: Kill everyone else. Secondary Win Condition Sons of Honor or Ghostbloods need to kill the other faction’s KRs. Each faction has four (only four Orders are in the game, but there is only one Bondsmith; the faction without the Bondsmith gets a random additional KR). The faction with the most KR’s alive if/when all Diagrammists are dead wins. The other loses. If both factions have an equal number of Radiants alive or all Radiants are dead, they tie and win together. Alternate Win Condition If an equal number of each team (Sons of Honor, Ghostbloods, and Diagrammists) is alive at any point in the game and the Bondsmith is still alive, the remaining players win together, united in one cause by the Bondsmith. All the dead players lose. Micellaneous Points of Order GMs: Wilson and Kasimir Order of Actions: Transportation/Explorer, Illumination/Artifabrian Assassin (starts watching) Progression/Surgeon, Tension/Runner, EC Transformation LW Transformation/Ardent, Friction, Adhesion Scholar Diagrammist kills, Cook Lynch Rollover Time: 9am MST/midnight SGT (4pm GMT) Number of Players/Role Distribution: In order for all roles to be in the game, there will need to be at least 26 players. This game can run on less, but not all the roles will be included, and we will not tell you which roles are not in the game. If there are more than 26 players, fantastic! Quick Links:

I'm probably going to be late, so I don't think we want me bringing the food stuffs. But I can, if necessary.

Dangit! I saw the first description right after you posted it yesterday, but totally forgot about checking this thread again. The second I saw "imaginary food" I'm like "Hook!" That first one was brilliant. Much better than my attempt at the same movie months ago.

Long Game 14: To Shatter a Shard
little wilson replied to Jo and the Bush's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Joe had some final thoughts he wanted to post, but it seems that he's gone on an indefinite hiatus, so I'm going to c/p his thoughts from the PM he sent them in so we can discuss. To kick this off, I'm going to comment on some of these points. First, though, I want to say that Joe took the breaks from LG10, and he fixed them admirably. LG10 had some serious problems, but Joe let that game play out without getting involved, and because of that, the breaks were very obvious, and it was clear how bad they were. Joe figured out how to fix them, and from what I can tell, the ruleset for LG14 is pretty much perfectly balanced (though I think Dominion could use a little tweaking because it's scarily OP in the hands of the eliminators right now). Hats off to him for that effort, because I think it was great. He showcased exactly what I like to see in these games: taking a game that was broken, fixing it, and then rerunning the fixed version. There was just one problem, and he admits it: Bias. Which leads me to my issues with this game. There are three of them, and he touches on all of them in his comments, but I disagree with his points about them. First, adding an eliminator. Joe says that the team had 3 fully inactive players. That is untrue. Eol, Antillar, and Raven would be classified as borderline to semi-inactive at the beginning of the game. Karlin was inactive. Dan was inactive. But both of those players were on the village side. Eol, Antillar, and Raven showed up occasionally in the thread and they talked in PMs. I know because I was Cultivation. Eol became the most popular player there in PMs for a short time in the first few cycles. From what I've seen in the doc, they didn't talk much there, but they weren't even inactive there. Not fully. I think they talked about once a cycle. Which has happened with teams in the past. MR2 had a 4 person eliminator team, and one of those players (Joe himself) was fully inactive. LG7 had a 4 person eliminator team, and only one player was semi-active while the other 3 were borderline/semi-inactive. One of those three could actually probably be counted as fully inactive. LG9 had a 3 person eliminator team and one of those was borderline and another was semi-active. MR8 had a 5 person eliminator team, with one fully inactive player and another semi-active. Did all of those prior teams lose? No. MR2 and LG7 did, but LG9 and MR8 won, barely. And those aren't all the teams that have had problems with activity. That's just 4 out of the 37 games that have been played (33 if we don't want to count faction games and free-for-alls). Most teams have had a borderline/semi-inactive player. Only a few teams have ever had a fully inactive player. Does this mean that it's never right to add an eliminator to a team if players aren't active? No. But I personally think that the only way the situation would call for it is if the GM built the team requiring for every single person to be fully and completely active. I also personally don't think the GM should ever build a team requiring that kind of activity, because it's impossible to plan for, since inactivity just happens, and it can happen to anyone, though some players are more prone to it than others. I do not think this game called for it. There were 5 eliminators and 27 players in the game. That's 18.5% of the players. I personally think it should hit somewhere between 15-25%, so that works. It's a little on the low-end, but when you factor in the power of Odium and Dominion and that Survival is neutral and can switch sides to join them, and that even Hoid could join, given the right circumstances (which they could've made, with Dominion), that percentage is perfect. There are only two members of their team that need to be fully and completely active: Odium and Dominion. The others can afford to be a little less active, but those two are necessary to the team's survival. Both of them were active. The other three, activity-wise, aren't ideal teammates, but they were at least partially active. None of them, except for maybe Eol, right around the time Phatt was added to the team, would classify as fully inactive. Raven was simply busy with college, but she was checking in occasionally, and Antillar was also checking in. Their situation did not warrant adding an additional eliminator, particularly not when Survival is held by LG10's Odium, who you know is never going to fully side with the village, given the way LG10 turned out. The team figured out how to triple tap. Yes, they did. But they didn't come up with that idea themselves. Joe told them: It's long been said that the GM shouldn't give ideas to either team, even if they really want to see something happen. But they really shouldn't give full-on strategy to the team and spell out exactly how to do what they'd really like to see happen. That is bias of a clear sort. Alv never fully died. It wasn't just Alv. It was Hael too. Alv and Hael were both allowed to stay in the doc after their deaths, despite precedence being that eliminators who die go to the dead doc and no longer talk in the eliminator doc. Now, if Joe wanted to do a puppet master, okay. Alv can stay and discuss. But just Alv. Having Hael there as well is basically keeping both players on the team. Sure, they don't have the ability to do anything and they can't talk in the thread, but why would they need to talk in the thread when they're not even technically alive? They're just more brainpower. I mean, if we're going to do things like that, why ever kick eliminators out of the doc when they die? Let's let them continue planning and strategizing. No harm can come from that. I'm sure no one would mind if Wyrm let me join the LG15b eliminator doc again so I could help out my teammates there. Right? Beyond that, there's the whole idea of the puppet master. Joe didn't give the village any inkling that there was the possibility of a puppet master until 4 cycles after Alv had supposedly died. Not only that, but even if we count Eol, Antillar, and Raven as having been inactive, they weren't the only inactives in the game. Dan and Karlin were also inactive. Yeah, Dan was replaced by Phatt and switched to be an eliminator, but that's not the point. The point is that the village also had a problem with inactives, but never got a puppet master of their own. This was a perfect opportunity for Joe to help out both teams in an unbiased fashion. Give the eliminators a puppet master for their inactives, and also give the village a puppet master for theirs. By giving the village a puppet master for theirs, it gives the village the idea that "hey, maybe the eliminators have a puppet master too...." Why does this matter? Because the eliminators, who had a puppet master, decided to ditch Odium with Karlin, who they knew was inactive and didn't have a puppet master, so they knew that Odium would be hidden for 72 hours. If the village had had a puppet master, this would not have been possible, since they would've known that the eliminators didn't have Odium and therefore couldn't kill. The eliminators took advantage of the GMs bias towards them, as is really only strategic for them to do. The thing that really gets me, though, is that this game started as perfectly balanced. Both teams had a completely equal chance of winning. The only reason things went so awry for the eliminators is because the village got lucky. Yes, there was some skill and analysis involved, but most of it was luck. And luck is just a thing with these games. Sometimes, Eliminator!Meta gets scanned on the first cycle, while also getting roleblocked when attempting a kill. Sometimes a vigilante Coinshot shoots the eliminator Mistborn on the first night. Sometimes Devotion is killed on the first cycle. Or Cultivation tries to invest in Odium on Cycle 3. That's just the way things go. Luck happens and for the GM to try to counter it means fighting against the way of the game and then bias plays a part. But it doesn't have to. While GMs control their game, in terms of luck and messing around with mechanics, I think a hands-off approach, except in the most dire of circumstances is better than getting involved every time something happens, since, because you're not messing with things, you can't be accused of bias. It didn't play a part. And in the most dire of circumstances, when one side is losing horribly due to a broken mechanic (and not due to luck or skill), then it's okay to intervene (after discussing with the impartial mod). But even in that situation, if a GM still wants to take a hands-off approach, that's perfectly acceptable. There's recently been a lot of discussion about "fun" and I support a lot of that discussion. The games should be fun. People should be playing to have fun, and it shouldn't be about winning. Winning should only be secondary. But some of that discussion has been applied to GMs and how GMs should make sure that everyone is having fun. The GMs have enough on their plate just with running the game and the stress and responsibility of that, that I don't think adding on something arbitrary like "fun" is a good move. How do you make sure that everyone is having fun? What if one side is having more fun than the other? What if one side had some bad luck and is losing and now they're not having fun? Or maybe they made some bad decisions and now they're losing and not having fun. What's the GM supposed to do? How do they decide how to act without looking biased towards that side? They can't. It's simple as that. Either you choose to intervene and try to help that side have more fun or you take a step and just let the game play out. The first choice will result in bias. Even if both sides seem like they're having fun, when the game ends and the team you countered realizes what you did, there will be players on that team who view it as biased and then the game loses its fun because they'll think the GM didn't actually want them to win. That would be especially true if the intervention resulted in the originally unhappy side going on to win the game. And if the GM lets the game play out, that side that was unhappy will continue to be unhappy. Is that the GMs fault? Absolutely not. At the end of the day, if there are going to be people who don't have fun, there's nothing the GM can do to prevent that. And it's not their job to prevent it. While the GMs should make sure their games can be fun, that's pre-game. That's during the building phase and setup and all of that. Once the game starts, it's just about keeping the game running smoothly, since that's a big enough job as it is. Ultimately, it's up to the players themselves whether we have fun or not. It's our decision. You can have fun whether you're winning or losing. The GM just gives you the game to play to nurture that fun that you've already decided on.- 1225 replies

Yeah, I think I was slightly dehydrated. I'd had plenty of water on Sunday, but not so much on Saturday or yesterday (before giving, though I drank a good 30 oz in the hour after). And now that I know I'm iron deficient (though I think I've been iron deficient since I was a teenager), I'm not sure I really should be giving anymore. I feel like I should since I'm healthy and I'm O- but giving whole blood makes a person more deficient in iron. Plus, I also just learned I have an autoimmune disorder and while it's not like those are contagious, I'm a little leery of giving blood when it's blood that they test to see what your antibody levels are and such. And I don't want to give someone a surplus of thyroid antibodies and cause them to have Hashimoto's (assuming that's even possible, which it probably isn't, but I have this fear now that it could happen, and then I'd feel really bad).
