Ah. I see the error of my ways. Indeed, aluminum has its place, when coupled with treachery and deceit. Sounds right up my alley.

Hm. I am now a Misting. While this initially sounds like a nice upgrade from arbiter, it begs the question of what type of a Misting I am. I mean, if I'm a Thug, Coinshot, or an emotional allomancer, that's pretty sweet. Either Nicrosil and Chromium would be suitable metals to burn as well. But what if I'm an aluminum Misting? Or Duralumin? Life would hardly be worth living....

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
little wilson replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I must interrupt your daily rioting for an important message: PM's are not allowed (except for the Voidbringers who will soon die). Keep all conversations limited to the Google docs. I know I hinted before that PM's would be okay, but Josh and I hadn't discussed that particular aspect yet, and I assumed it would run a little closer to the other games (that's what I get for assuming ). I apologize for that mistake. Happy rioting!- 384 replies

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
little wilson replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
To make sure this game starts on time, we'll take sign ups through midnight MDT. So for another 8 hours, approximately. That'll give us enough time to sort through everyone and assign roles. There are still some players who haven't sent Rubix their email. Mailliw, Feather, Macen, twelfthroot, a smart guy, Adolin Dustbringer, Wyrm, Sphinx, and dants. If you guys/gals will send him a PM with that info, that would be great. Thanks! And yes. There's quite the mix here. Should be fun.- 384 replies

What about after they kill you and eat your body, impersonating you? Although, I guess you'd be dead then. Not many emotions going on there in deadland. So what if you saw said killing, devouring, and impersonating happen right in front of you...?

Careful, Wes. He just changed that B. To an even brighter B. I'm not sure I'd offend the Bostonian. That's my arbiter advice.

I was more just quoting Cool Runnings, and not really asking about the game, but that works too. And that is a very good point. Guess you'll just have to pray to see, huh?- 384 replies

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher

About 24.5 hours. We need one more person to have all the roles, but if anyone else wants to sign up (unlikely given how little time is left), we can do more than 27.- 384 replies

Uh oh, Monsta. Looks like you might be out a pair of boots here soon. I shall use my role as official arbiter to suggest you just hand them over without a fight. If you don't, Swimmingly will go all eloquent on you.....which could actually be hilarious, now that I think about it. Hm. I change my advice. KEEP THE BOOTS.

Oh, yes. The times of the Stupid Titles of TWG.... I remember fondly the days of being a part of the Coalition, providing food when I worked in a soup kitchen (and watching some sketchy/painful snowboarding by certain reckless male members of said coalition). My days as a hermit are remembered less-fondly. But such is the case. Now I am an Arbiter, and it is a grand thing!....sort of. And Monsta, I bask in no one's glory. Except my own. Oh, and welcome back. Nice to see an old face around.

Heh. True. Still, in terms of keeping score (and I don't know if this person is or not), it would count as a loss. That's really what I was getting at.
-
I'm going to cut in here and nix this. If the thief chooses to turn traitor, that's his/her decision but s/he is a Noble and if the Nobles lose, s/he loses. S/He cannot be initiated into the eliminator side. That wouldn't be fair for all the games going forward. If s/he turns, and you guys win, s/he does still ultimately lose. Sorry. Carry on.

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
little wilson replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Nope. Not even during Highstorms. The only restriction on PM's is that any PM to the GM during a Highstorm will not count. ...Don't go giving him any ideas now... (not that this is giving him ideas. I'm pretty sure I heard him suggest this when we were initially talking about it a few weeks ago... ) Pretty much. If no more people sign up, there will be 8 people in the three factions and 6 in the Seventeenth Shard. And it's not "up to four kills per cycle." There's not really any limit on kills. If things go really poorly (and we have the Shamed Guard in the game), there could easily be upwards of 8-9 kills in a cycle. That wouldn't be consistent, but there could be a cycle where a lot of people die. And that's not even counting curse effects. Wild is definitely an accurate description of what this will be.- 384 replies

Mid-Range Game 1: The Stormfather and The Nightwatcher
little wilson replied to Rubix's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Both the PM to the GM and the post in the main thread. There is a global daily lynch. Each faction also has a role (the Ghostblood) that can kill on top of that daily lynch. (So unless one or more of the Ghostbloods is taken out, expect 4 people to die each day). If you're praying to the Nightwatcher, just the Nightwatcher. If you're not praying, the PM would involve the lynch vote and your role action. If you've previously prayed to the Nightwatcher and been given a boon that also has an ability, that would be included as well. It's last faction standing. That includes members of the Seventeenth Shard. The difference for them is that (using your example) Adam can win whether it's just the Noblemen faction left or just the Seventeenth Shard left. If his Seventeenth Shard member teammate who's spying on the Noblemen is still alive, the Noblemen haven't won yet. They will still need to kill that person (but Adam can't tell them who it is). Yes. It is a little odd, but it's meant to make things a little more interesting for them (since they don't really have any role or abilities beyond spying (since the second death rids them of the ability to spy). They have to choose which team they're more loyal to. Seventeenth Shard? Or the other faction? If Adam chooses the Noblemen (and all the other members of the Seventeenth Shard choose their other faction), he'll be working against 2/3 of the Seventeenth Shard, since their loyalties aren't with the Noblemen. He won't even be certain of the identity of the other Sharder loyal to the Noblemen (although he'll have it narrowed down to 2). But if he and all the Sharders choose to work together for a Seventeenth Shard win, they're the smallest faction, so it's an uphill battle for them. Correct.- 384 replies

I read it more as the Lines of Warding are something that need to be done nightly. So they'd be more likely to keep themselves protected early on (assuming they have about 4-5 people creating Lines of Warding), but late-game, in order to have the same protection, they'll be sacrificing other moves. Which could be a problem with balance, making it a lot harder later in the game to win. So in that case, a scaling system wouldn't be bad. Maybe rolling a dice based more around the number of Rithmatists in the game? Even if it starts out as higher than a d6 (like maybe a d10) and then ending closer to a d4 (if the players get low enough). That random extra killing would be pretty damaging if you don't have the players to make the Wardings.
-
Yeah, that's just begging for abuse of the rep system, and these games have already tweaked with the system enough as it is. I love the Black Market idea. As for payment, buying with lynch votes could work, but I think having some sort of currency system in place would work a little better. It's just figuring out what type of currency system and how it's distributed to make it balanced for all the players. There could be a few different tiers to assigning money at the beginning of the game, like maybe a reverse order of experience (so least experienced/first-time players get more than those who've been in many games). And other things. So everyone starts with a bit, encouraging everyone to stay in the game and participate when they can (since obviously not everyone can be online constantly). Just an idea, though.

Early last year, I worked front desk at a hotel. I became good friends with the night bell person. When she didn't have anything to do, she'd come up to the front desk, and we would chat. One night, I was re-reading WoK. I was only about 100 pages in, and I came across a part I figured she'd thoroughly enjoy. So I read it outloud to her. She wanted to hear more. So I jumped to the beginning of the book and started over. Reading out loud. I even gave the characters different voices (as much as I could). She'd listen to me and draw different scenes and characters on scratch pieces of paper (and she's a pretty good artist). It took about 2 months to finish, but I read the entire thing to her. And it was awesome. And she loved it. When she found out WoR was out, she was excited, but at the same time, disappointed that I wouldn't be able to read it to her. I'd loaned her Mistborn at the same time, and she enjoyed that, but then I moved away, and I was her access to all things Brandon, so...yeah. I need to figure out a way to keep her hooked, since I know she doesn't have money to spend on buying books...

This thread rather makes my day. You people amuse me, and Tempus' creativity (and skill) impresses me. Makes me almost wish I had a puntastic picture; however, "Wilson" is a little hard to do without going all Castaway/Dennis the Menace.... And Quiver, I like the new pic. It's not as amusing as the previous one though(the one after Oliver). And Panda's is highly entertaining. As much as I like Malcolm and John Barrowman...well. Nyan Arrow wins.

So....this means that Tulir is going to be a Noble then, right? I mean, look at his rep. It always speaks the truth. And I truly wish I could sign up for this game. However, I will be watching. And moderating (not that it's likely to need much in the way of moderation, but we'll see). So. I'm jealous of all of you. Because this looks like it will be a blast. Edit: Let's keep OOC stuff in blue, plzkthx- 384 replies

The Staff Have Been Infiltrated!!!
little wilson replied to GreyPilgrim's topic in General Discussion
I tested my theory this morning with my work computer and my phone. But whenever I refreshed with my phone and then refreshed with the desktop, I disappeared entirely, as if I wasn't even online....so...yeah. It was a little weird. And disproves my "different devices" theory. But yeah, when I see it, it's typically just with Windy. -

Two tabs doesn't do it. It might be two windows. I'm not sure. When I'm on my laptop, I almost always have two tabs of 17S open, but I've only seen my name on there twice on one occasion. And I might've had the site open in two browsers at the time. Or on two devices. I'm not sure.... (but now I want to test this...) -
Oh! Sorry. Khyrindor might be right then. Although, that seems off to me, since the RPG takes places even before Final Empire (I think it's like 100 years before the events of TFE). So it shouldn't even really have spoilers for Mistborn. But it no doubt does, in part.

I think with the Jeskeri involved, though, it'll balance it out. There's always an element of luck (good or bad). I mean, The Jeskeri could just as easily kill the Odiv right after the Gyorn names him. Or the gyorn. There are a lot of elements here, working together and against each other, and I think it sounds absolutely fabulous. And I might even be able to play it, since Gamma said he might be sitting out. And I really want to. And I'm honestly not even sure what I'd want, although I think starting as an Elantrian would be kind of awesome. Exploring the city sounds like a ton of fun. And the Hoed sounds like a blast.

Does Hero of Ages have spoilers for Alloy of Law? No. Hero of Ages takes place about 300 years before Alloy. However, Alloy of Law contains spoilers for Hero of Ages, but that's kind of to be expected, since it takes place after it.
