  1. That's a strong assumption that they're from one of the other planets in the Drominad System. I doubt it is the case given the evidence we do have. We probably won't see many/any novels/stories on planets where there hasn't been some type of Shardic-intervention before. Thus I think given the additional information gleaned from AU, the likely candidate for the Ones Above is still probably the Scadrians. Khriss wrote that after Silverlight, only the Scadrians are the most technologically advanced in the Cosmere and possibly could have been more advanced if it weren't for the Lord Ruler's intervention. Granted, my assumptions could also be wrong since Sixth of the Dusk is the most forward time-wise of all the Cosmere related work out to date.
  2. Aren't the 16 Shards basically the pieces of Adonalsium's Investiture? He/She held all 16 Intents before, right?
  3. Dang. I must have missed that WoB. There were so many coming out on those tours without a good way to track them all. Thanks for the update PallonianFire!
  4. According to Khriss in AU, everyone sent by Silverlight to "the area around the perpendicularity" has not returned. The risk to worldhop is thus too great. Better to come as traders to get Aviar and use the likes of Sixth of the Dusk and Vathi's organization to try and acquire Aviar. I also still think Vathi is Khriss. Before White Sand was published, I asked Brandon at a signing once if we had seen Vathi in any of his other published works. He first paused and verbally though about it by saying "Uhhhhhh...no."
  5. Peter for the trolling win!
  6. Prior to the release of Khriss' essay on the Drominad System by Tor, I included a question for Brandon to answer in my pre-order. I wanted to know if Patji's Eye was a perpendicularity on First of the Sun, and if so would a creature like a Nightmaw worldhop. The first part is a RAFO...and probably a legitimate "read and find out" because Khriss more or less confirms this without saying it's Patji's Eye. However, Brandon did answer the second part of my question: non-sapeint creatures can worldhop, but it's hard. My motive for this question was that a long time ago I wondered if Thunderclast were from other worlds (probably not) and if Aviar could be on other planets on their own accord (I originally thought maybe Denth's parrot could be an Aviar). So for fun, I wanted to see if Nightmaw could worldhop, because come on, how crazy scary would it be to run across a Nightmaw on Roshar or Scadrial or Nalthis?! Now I also imagine every horse in the Cosmere is a Ryshadium that wants to kick every stranger in the head. All in all, this isn't a big WOB, but it's at least somewhat interesting.
  7. From south to north for the win! Good job little wilson.
  8. Congratulations Kasimir! The Atacama Desert is the driest place on earth, despite being right next to the Pacific Ocean.
  9. Nope, but good guess! Clue: It's on another continent entirely.
  10. Currently reading Memories of Ice, with only 7% to go. I think Deadhouse Gates was much better. This story seems to be a repeat of the previous two books: march to battle, fight, march to next battle, fight. Some character development, but wait! Some people get much more powerful and die. But do they? Hmmm... Anyway, next in my queue is a self-published book called Senlin Ascends by Josiah Bancroft. Author Mark Lawrence has called it the best book he's read in 2016 because of the beautiful prose, gripping and unique story, and amazing character development. The good news is that the second book of the trilogy is out already (and got just as glowing reviews). I'll let everyone know what I think about it after I finish it.
  11. Yours will probably be just signed and numbered if you didn't put anything in the personalization field. If you go to a signing, maybe you can ask him a question and he can write the answer in the book.
  12. This is probably one of the books ordered from Brandon's website and shipped via Wellers Book Works out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Any other pre-ordered book (like from Amazon) will not include numbers or signatures.
  13. I'm going to jump in with a question for my geography lovers: WLIU, what is the name of the driest non-polar desert? (i.e. don't include the north pole or Antarctica) Bonus: what is the predominant country this desert resides in and what are the three adjacent countries that some geographers consider the desert also cross into?
  14. @Darkness Ascendant, looks like we need a new question. Got one lined up?
  15. If I recall correctly, between the two is the Neolithic...only because I know that's immediately after Mesolithic. So does this mean you want tribes/cultures/etc. or just the names of their settlements? If it's the latter, I can really only think of two: Jericho and Byblos.
  16. When you notice your Malatium decal is missing a spike and after tweeting Peter about it someone at Brandon's store sends you a full sheet of new decals, a cartoonish koloss sticker, and a hand written note!
  17. I would normally get an ebook too, but a colored graphic novel just won't cut it with black e-ink on a kindle.
  18. I have Amazon Prime which usually turns into one day delivery for me since I live in a giant metropolitan area. Mine may be delayed because I only placed my order for a copy two days ago?
  19. When you get a card from your colleagues on your last day at work that incorporates numerous Mistborn puns (because I've gotten three of them to read all of the Mistborn books).
  20. I received an email from Amazon saying it'll arrive June 30th. I was hoping it'd arrive the 28th so that I could take it with me on my backpacking trip. Oh well, I'm excited to read it, even if I don't like graphic novels!
  21. Welcome to the forum! However, I hate to break it to you, but you have a really biased opinion. Some people may disagree with you and argue that other books by Brandon are better. I've heard people say Warbreaker is his best or the original Mistborn trilogy. He even won a Hugo (before we had a puppy problem) for The Emperor's Soul. Additionally...Brandon is a FAST writer. He churns out high quality books like no other. Because he has a plan (is he a Cylon?!). A well documented/wiki'd plan. When he wrote Shadows of Self, he also wrote Bands of Mourning. We, as fans, got two books for the price of one waiting period! Yes, Stormlight Archive is amazing, but he is currently writing the third book and will probably finish the series in his life time (if not yours too). Be patient, my new friend. Be patient.
  22. Kaymyth, I LOVE thunderstorms. Growing up I used to sit on my front porch in the summer watching the afternoon storms go by. We had our share of thunderstorms about two weeks ago. My dog does not love them as much as I do. The rain we've had the past few days have just been quite, overcast days that spit some water every once and a while. Today was day 14 of our consecutive rain days. However, I have other exciting news to share today too: I have accepted a new job today working for the US Agency for International Development! I will start July 5th after going on a 5 week trip to Jordan for my current job.
  23. In DC we just broke a record for the most consecutive days in a row with measurable rainfall. We're now at 13 days (Seattle's record is 33, for context). Granted for the first 12 days we've only averaged 0.3 inches a day (I'm not certain what we've gotten so far today). So it's not like we're getting soaked here, but it is causing people to feel SAD.
  24. I recall a while ago that Brandon mentioned Ais would be gender swapped. A few months back I tried to find corresponding WoB, but was never able to. It's probably buried somewhere in one of the signing threads. This just confirms what I remembered.
  25. In The Final Empire, he is described as having a hawkish, mustached face. Who else in the Cosmere has been described as hawkish? Why, everyone's favorite and mysterious worldhopper: HOID. From Way of Kings: Could Felt be from Yolen? Does he know who Hoid is, perhaps? On a separate note, Moash is also described as have a hawk-like face, so I may just be tin-foil hatting here.
