  1. But you're misunderstanding Megan's power. She accesses other dimensions not other universes. A universe is made up of an unknown number of dimensions. Universes are unique and do not connect with each other. Thus, since the Cosmere is in a different universe than Reckoners, it would NEVER be possible for her to find a dimension in the Cosmere universe.
  2. King's Twit, the main reason why I don't worry about Hoid having allomancy is that since he was at the Shattering and knew the Vessels before they took up their Shards, I would easily believe that he has a Connection with each of the Shards. Which could be enough for him to be able to access their magics.
  3. Pallonian, that is true...on Scadrial. But is it like a Rosetta Stone and can re-write everyone's spirit web, regardless of where you come from? If you already have some connection and identity to Scadrial, having Lerasium rewrite your Scadrian spirit-web to allow you to become a Mistborn is one thing, but can it do the same for a Nalthian? The majority of the WoB that I've seen so far seems to imply it re-writes the spirit-web for Scadrians. The only WoB I've seen that appears to apply for off-worlders is paraphrased (which I am doubtful of) and doesn't even show the question.
  4. Would anything actually happen if Kaladin were to hypothetically swallow the bead of Lerasium? His spirit web connects him to Roshar, not Scadrial. I would believe that to gain the magic system of another world, one would have to have some type of connection and identity with that planet (or at least the Shards associated with that planet). Unless one of Kal's parents is from Scadrial...then it could work
  5. Sorry to burst your bubble, Jason, but Brandon has explicitly said many times that Reckoners is not Cosmere. As a result there cannot be a connection between the two. Good thinking, however, given what we now know about Megan's ability from Calamity. However, it's my understanding, also, that Megan doesn't access other universes, she just accesses other dimensions within her universe. Thus if this is the case and that the Cosmere is in another universe, the two could never be accessible to each other.
  6. maxal, you realize how long these books are, right? He also writes other things in between so he doesn't burn out. Oh, and... He's not GRRM! Just take a deep breath and relax. The Stormlight Archive is addictive, and we're all in this together! We'll get our fix sooner or later.
  7. Thanks for clarifying the gasoline on Scadrial! I was a proponent of the bio-diesel method unless fossil fuels were placed by Harmony when he re-shaped the world. Given how productive the Basin is, I just assumed they could make enough bio-diesel.
  8. I was the one that asked the question about the Hoed going into the Shardpool because I had a mini-theory that the Hoed were the Ire until we got that they were very, very, very...a few more very-ies, old. Nonetheless I still wanted to know what happened to them. I'm glad that there were other Sharders around to hear this, and Oudeis is correct that he asked us what we thought the answer was. Oudeis is actually the one, I think, that suggested they get torn apart. After talking with us, Brandon did confirm they get ripped apart unless they have some other type of protection, as Argent suggests above. The next question out of this is what kind of protection can one use to ensure they don't get ripped apart by the Dor?
  9. Well, if a mod can say her name, then I can confirm that we did indeed see her in the Oathbringer chapter that was read to us, per the source himself.
  10. Tobar, what you may be thinking is probably exactly what I asked, as Oudeis suggests. Brandon very clearly said that the person was who I thought it was.
  11. I don't recall him saying it is okay to post a transcription, but usually he asks us to refrain from sharing what we hear from these readings until after the book tour ends. I asked him a question about the reading he did after our recorder in Philly was turned off, and I'll share eventually. I wish he had read it all, but I understand that his voice probably needed a break. Now I just can't wait for Oathbringer to actually be published!
  12. Bard, send an email to Brandon's team using the contact form on his site and they may still be sending it out. Given that the graphic novel version is coming out in June, they may have changed their policy. But it can't hurt to email and ask!
  13. Mason, that means "Faster Than Light". I don't know what else you've read, so without spoiling anything, it will be relevant one day and one short story has shown space travel but not necessarily the FTL aspect of it.
  14. If it's due in two weeks it may be tough for Brandon since he's currently doing the Calamity tour. As Ari said, your best bet may be to Tweet Peter AND Brandon. However, if I were you I'd have a strong contingency plan and if you don't hear back from Brandon within a few days, begin working on the back up.
  15. I did post it in the relevant signing thread. I was at the Philly signing where we got a lot of good questions in. I asked about 10 questions without any RAFOs, which is pretty exciting.
  16. I'm necro-ing this thread since I asked Brandon during the Calamity Tour if Drehy was Terris or not. Drehy is NOT Terris. As we know, Drehy was based on one of Brandon's friends. This same friend is often described as lanky, tall, and long-limbed. Every time a character in Stormlight Archive notices his characteristics, this is basically an inside joke with the friends who know who he is based on. It saddens me to say that this theory is dead, but I felt like all the pieces were there!
  17. Hey everyone! During the Calmaity tour Brandon was handing out some awesome Reckoners postcards. When you view them one way you see the original city but then when you tilt the cards another way you see the Reckoners equivalent. They are super cool. My personal favorite is the one from Calamity, but mostly because of the postcard tagline. Chicago/Newcago New York/Babilar Calamity Spoiler
  18. Questions that I asked with their paraphrased answers: Q: Have we seen Vathi in any of your published works besides Sixth of the Dusk? A: Uhhhh....long pause as he thinks about it...No Q: If someone on Nalthis had an Aviar like Kokerlii, would an Awakener's life sense work or would the person be perceived as Drab? A: Life sense would not work Q: Drehy is frequently described as being long-limbed and lanky, which reminds me of eunuch Terrismen. Was Drehy born on Roshar? A: Drehy is based after a friend who is also lanky and long-limbed. It's an inside joke. Q: Where is Gretgor, the first Wyrn's sword A: He's enshrined in Fjordell...at the palace, maybe (Note, I find it interesting that he used a male pronoun for the sword) Questions not on the recording: Q: If a Hoed goes through the pool in the mountains, what happens to them when they enter the Cognitive realm? A: He asked us (a group of Sharders) what we though. He basically confirmed that the Dor rips them apart unless they have other ways to get past it. Q: Asked about a character in the Oathbringer Dalinar flashback...which he answered in the affirmative. I'll post the real Q and A after the book tour. I also asked Hayley Lazo, the illustrator for the Alcatraz series, to draw her version of Nightblood in my copy of Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians. She happily obliged (thanks again, @art!). Afterwards I asked Brandon if this could be considered the new "canon" version of Nightblood which he jokingly said "Yes, with the face included!" So, for your viewing pleasure here's what Nightblood really looks like :
  19. What a fun singing indeed. Met several nice Sharders and I was the one that tricked the other Mistborn with Nightblood. Sorry to see the demise of that Mistborn, but with Boxings being pushed I thought Oudeis needed some support with Nightblood. A non recorded question that I asked involved what happens to Hoed who go through the Shardpool. Brandon basically confirmed that the Dor would rip them apart because it takes them into the Cognitive realm. I asked other questions that were recorded as well and I'll post the paraphrased answers later and update them with the verbatim. One of these that I found interesting though was when I asked if Vathi is in any other published works outside of Sixth of the Dusk and Brandon had to think about it for a while before saying No. Maybe he plans on her being in other works soon?! @Art thanks for drawing the obviously "canon" Nightblood in my copy of Alcatraz! Brandon jokingly confirmed that it's now the canon image of Nightblood, face and all!
  20. I'm still reading Calamity, so I have not read anything in this thread that precedes this comment (so apologies if it's been mentioned already) but... [rant] So..umm...David is from Newcago! I am outraged by him even thinking that a hot dog should ever have a relationship with ketchup. He must secretly be from Portland or Atlanta, because a true Newcago-an would know that this is blasphemous! [/rant]
  21. I just called the store to see if I could buy a different book from Brandon for the signing and they told me sure, but that I also had to buy Calamity if I wanted to get inside. Hmmm...
  22. Oudeis, you know I'll be there. I'm glad it's on a weekend this time so that we can get there early! I've already lined up a dog walker to come that night to give SiMon a walk. I haven't looked into rental cars yet...but I'll get to it. The only other DC Sharder I know of is Kipper. Maybe we can DM him to see if he's interested. We could also pick up any MD Sharders along the I-95 corridor on the drive up.
  23. I just got to this scene in the book and immediately thought it was Khriss. It has to be. Who else would ask such specific questions about how allomancy and feruchemy work and mix? Who else would wonder about the physics involved?! I'm super stoked by this! Ahhh!
  24. I'm okay with the release on the 30th as I haven't finished BoM yet. This allows me a week to read and then follow up with a novella. Thanks SanderBot!
  25. Perhaps she was buried in a coffin? I imagine that if she was, there would be an air pocket inside the coffin and that she probably could alter her body to use the air at a lower rate than normal. If she didn't do that, maybe if you go into some type of meditative stasis your heart rate decreases which automatically implies your body is using less oxygen more efficiently.
