Hmmm... By asking everyone else their names and picking the one person who cannot answer? Or maybe I'm the one who replies with "Kangchenjunga Sarekgjåkkå"

It's not the fastest paced fantasy series around, but the Pellinor Saga by Alison Croggon is really beautifully written. The first book should be either The Naming or The Gift (AFAIK published under either name depending on area). The magic system is rather vaguely defined, but a lot of work went into world building and poems. There even are (fake? I'm 90% sure that they're fake) annotations and citations of publications concerning the culture and the island on which the story takes place, introducing it as the origin of the Atlantis mythos with magic and also some science.

A friend of mine and I will also come to the events - even tough we are not yet sure which one(s) we'll be able to catch. Preferably all of them I'd love to meet some other sharders there, feel free to PM me (German is fine too). It's my first event of that sort, but I'll try to get some audio recorded during question time.

My guess would be that the dragon type things are larkins then?

*sniff* Though I'm not really surprised about that one... Q: As Feruchemistry is the magic system combined from Ruin and Preservation's powers, and they created humankind on Scadrial, how is it that it only occurs in persons with Terrispeople in their ancestry? A: RAFO. (Adding this here because Goodreads won't let me submit such a short answer to a question. Which is rather annoying.)

Thanks @ LeftVash and Moogle, I wasn't logged in on goodreads and therefore thought that I've been looking in the wrong place xD My two cents: Are glyphs common as ornamentation on (dead) Shardblades? Do Shardblades lose something else besides the glow when their respective Spren is killed?

I'm a bit lost with Twitter, where can I put in questions or actually read Brandon's answers?(I know that it is just beginning in a couple of minutes)

Marasi? -
Assuming that Roshar is rotating around itself (I haven't read otherwise, just some tadbit concerning the seasons, but that should be due to the tilt of the Planet's roational axis) and both storms (o.B.d.A both have the same velocity) are going in opposite direction, one of them should be faster than the other, as it moves along the rotation. Hopefully it's the Stormfather's one, I'll try to check some numbers later. Arising problem: the storms would clash at different geographical points every time, thereby causing even more destruction all over the place... EDIT: The Everstorm is causing already a lot of destruction, another clash therefore even more...

I've been wondering about something for quite a while now: can Parshendi (and therefore Parshmen) only change when they are outdoors? Spheres cannot be infused with Stormlight while they are inside, so maybe Stormlight and and (Storm/Void)Spren can't get through walls as long as they are intact, therefore they are not able to enforce Stormform. I can imagine that Roshone's house/keep is build sturdier than other buildings, therefore maybe the Parshmen haven't changed yet? That's pure speculation on my part, though

Seems... plausible. Thanks, I'll give it some more thought

A bit off-topic: There IS something off about all that. It is bothering me that Helaran's blade has a gemstone set into the pommel. Apparently gemstones are not part of the original design, and have later been added to bind a blade to a person. Helaran was supposed to be a Skybreaker. Everything would be alright if he were one of Nin's "Knights", who very likely won't be bonded to spren. (Or Nin is a complete hypocrite and only kills Surgebinders of other orders...) But then there's this tidbit I doubt that even Jasnah had access to books describing Surgebinding, Helaran even less likely (if he had not been a Surgebinder). How would he have taught her something only vaguely referenced in myths? I'm... kind of confused now ^^

From another post: Just look at the lower right corner of the post you want to quote. There's a "Quote" button. Otherwise just click on the speech bubble in the editor. (I think there's also a third option/command line, but I can*t recall it right now... somthing along /quote and /endquote ?) Description of the Shardblade of the person killed by Kaladin: And Amaram's Blade is described like this: engraved: check stylized: ? back edge/dull side: flowing flames/water design: check curved: check It seems to be the same blade, provided Amaram wasn't able to find two very similar looking swords Concerning the time-frame: it wouldn't be the first time for Amaram to lie... (I can't find a quote describing the colour of his Shardplate, Helaran's used to be golden.)

I'm not sure about the timeline, and therefore the influence Preservation's nature posed on Leras, but I assumed that he and Ati modeled Scadrial or at least humans after the ones on Yolen (which was their homeworld IIRC). So even if there was life before on Scadrial, maybe humans weren't able to survive without more intervention from those two. Therefore, they might have "invented" other species anew, too. (And what's the fun in trying to destroy something, when aforementioned thing dies immediatly on his own?) Apart from that, I cannot image them collaborating over a long time. Is it known if Preservation betrayed Ruin shortly after creating sentient life/humans?
-
Apart from that: Shallan clearly recognised it as Helaran's Shardblade whom Kaladin has killed. Edit: Welcome to the forums

The Long Mars just came out on June 19th, and is indeed the third book in the series

You've forgotten The Long Earth/War/Mars by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter Another beautiful fantasy series is from Alison Croggon: The Pellinor Saga (The Gift, The Riddle, The Crow and The Singing).
