It was absolutely phenomenal. But I have no desire to see Episode 5 ever again...

That's the theory that won out? Honestly it seemed the least compelling of the one's I recall being kicked around. I still think most of it was the Everstorm's Spren pretending to be the Stormfather in hopes of stealing the Stormfather's then-current Bondsmith candidate. But I did miss out on a lot of the debate so I may have missed something more compelling.

Devils Advocate stament on the whole discussion is that the WOB was specific to Voidlight which has a lot of properties we dont fully understand yet, but other WOBs imply it's a lot more sticky than stormlight all on it's own. But that being said, Singer gemhearts are unique in at least two ways: they dont look like any known Essence Gem, and they are apparently compatible with more (or perhaps just a strange cross-section) of spren compared to the normal 10 gems. The way they are described as cloudy spheres makes me think they are layered Pearls made up of all the other ten Essence Gem types. EDIT: also, and this WOB reminded me of it, I do have a tangent Theory. Two of the three Yolen Sapient races had whole ecosystems associated with them, and I suspect the Gemheart/spren ecosystem of Roshar either IS the Ecosystem of Dragons or is an off-shoot modeled after them (which would have been created by Adonalsium, for some reason...). But part of that is that I suspect Larkin are larval Dragons.

Most common theory I've seen is that cultivation has only intervened three known times, granted/arranging a large Connection to each of the three Shards of Roshar, specifically to arrange their Heirs and replacements. As for the Nightwatcher, one important thing we now know is that she was specifically created to be UnConnected from the population of Roshar and what they thought about her (unlike normal spren) and does the Boon/Curse thing to try and learn about people. So I suspect their won't ever be an obvious pattern because it's all an on-going experiment for her to compare and contrast different types of people and what they place Value on. They come and ask for something, she grants it but Takes something else, then learns from the fallout. When we meet her I envision a spren that is very knowledgeable (and possibly jaded) when it comes to people and their motivation, but will still be mostly baffled by them. Based on the scene with Dalinar, she knows how to temp people in "normal" ways, but she couldn't understand complex human/mortal emotions like Grief and Guilt and Forgiveness.

I think it's just the normal Growth use of the Progression Surge that ages plants (and possibly animals, we dont really know yet) at fast rates and can apparently shape them as they go. But I didnt get any indication she can make them animate or swing around or anything like awakening, just grow in specific directions and shapes. The only vine weirdness that I recall as being definitively unique is that she can touch Wyndle so she can climb the vines his invisible manifestations leave behind.

It looks like the WOB itself has been removed. Per the links you posted it should have been /E#15221 in the link, but for that event WOB #64 is /#e15220 and WOB #65 is /#e15222. My guess is that the WOB either didnt pass muster by the Coppermind mods (bad paraphrasing or some such) or it has since been contradicted by the novels themselves. What was the context of the reference on Moash's page? There aren't any other WOBs from that event that mention him.

Prisoners traditionally make terrible Guardians, and it sounds like the two Heroes had no pre-existing Responsibility for the town. They come, they save, they get offered a celebration feast and maybe a willing farmer's daughter in hoped they will settle down, but unless they are awful people as a group they'd likely have to respect that the Merchant duo that saved them have lives and families and business elsewhere. But if you really want them to actively support the duo leaving, perhaps they expect the duo to do something for them elsewhere, like deliver a message, track down a lost townsperson, or return with some form of Relief from the Nation's capital, etc.

Can a Feruchemist use a Shardblade as a Metalmind?
Quantus replied to Trusk'our's question in Cosmere Q&A
WOB's are inconsistent on whether foreign Godmetals can be Burned by a full Mistborn natively or if they would need some extra steps to make it work with the Metallic Arts, so I think the same uncertainty would apply to any Feruchemical use. The biggest barrier is that Allomancy can just Burn the metal without needing to know what it will do, but a Feruchemist needs the Intent to store and tap the actual specific attribute, which makes experimentation a lot more difficult. And nowadays we don't actually know for certain that Pure Godmetals are feruchemcially viable at all, since the only example of a Godmetal being used as a metalmind is now a naturally occurring Alloy. -
Can allomantic Chromium affect other forms of investiture?
Quantus replied to HeWhoDoesn'tQuiet's question in Cosmere Q&A
Yes, it's confirmed to work on other forms of investiture, and that it's mechanism for doing so is similar to Nightblood's or Larkin's feeding so it doesn't really care what the flavor of investiture is. From various WOBs we know: When burning away a person's metals, it feels like pulling power from the metal and returning it to an external source.[2] This power is similar to Nightblood and larkin.[3] When burning away a person's metals, non-Invested metals go before the Invested ones.[4] Only Allomantically relevant metals can be burned away.[5] The ability to burn the metal can be drained while leaving the metal.[2] A Leecher can also drain other forms of Investiture. They would be fairly effective at draining a person's Breath or Stormlight.[6] They could also Leech a Feruchemist who was tapping their metalmind.[7] They would be able to Leech from a Lifeless.[8] A Leecher could prevent a Shardbearer from summoning their blade,[9] and can prevent a weapon using Investiture from working.[2] If a Leecher touched Nightblood, the Leecher would die.[10] -
Is Surgebinding end-positive or end-neutral?
Quantus replied to cometaryorbit's topic in Cosmere Discussion
End-Positive in the sense that it's powered by an external/ambient Investiture source that doesnt cost anyone anything (which might slant it to end-negative from a certain POV). It's not about what realm the Investiture exists in (ie. Allomancy fueled by the Mist is still End-Positive). But also the terms really start to loose practical meaning off Scadrial:- 32 replies

At its most powerful: Direct Spiritweb Manipulation, as in Spritweb re-wiring. No emalurgy, Forgery, etc required. Pre-shattering this was supposedly granted by Microkinesis, along with the ability to split atoms and to both perceive and interact with things through the Quantum scale.

I think they are, or were originally intended, as the eventual form of the 4th Bridge airships, ones that are self-contained and self-maneuvering like like boats. Now that they know what Surge Fabrials really are and have made steps to bring more of them into the war effort, we might see Gravitation Fabrials that allow airships without needing all the Connectors and ropeworks in Urithitu. As I see it, Submarines would be the Version 3 after that, taking a self-operating Gravity Airship and making it watertight, ideally with life support (soulcasting to freshen the air) and maybe Edgedancer anti-friction on the hull to slide through the water much easier.

Does returning allow you to retain powers?
Quantus replied to Tamriel Wolfsbaine's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That's not really an issue, lots of things in the Cosmere can break conservation of Energy (and Mass, etc) since Investiture is an equal 3rd to Matter and Energy at a root reletivity level. As far as the Connection required for feruchemy vs Allomancy, Im more talking about the fact that Allomancy requires and ongoing Connection to Preservation/Harmony to fuel it, a connection that the Metal opens each time to that External Source. By contrast feruchemy is powered by the more "natural" interrealmic Connections of being a sentient living being. Im seeing it as similar to how Forgery could make a person an allomancer but cant actually support or provide the Investiture to power it. -
Does returning allow you to retain powers?
Quantus replied to Tamriel Wolfsbaine's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Completely read that wrong, sorry. For the Bond, WOB says Investiture interferes with Investiture so it would be difficult to make one, and would also probably Break. But Nale proves that a Cogntive shadow can Bond, so it's probably not impossible. For The Metallic Arts, I cant find WOBs on it but I think Feruchemy is more likely than Allomancy since Allomancy uses and requires a Connection to Preservation, and becoming "overstuffed" with Endowment's Investiture may interfere or break that. But since Returning is a process chosen and managed by Endowment herself, she could probably just Choose to make it work if she wanted to. -
Does returning allow you to retain powers?
Quantus replied to Tamriel Wolfsbaine's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Read that entirely wrong... Generally speaking No. I think it's mostly because there is so little Investiture left running the corpse that there's barely enough to Charge a Spike, which likely means there isnt enough to support additional Powers. But if you could overcharge the Lifeless there's a chance they'd no longer be Lifeless and could then possibly get some of that back (along with skills and maybe memories, from what normal Lifeless have). -
Feruchemical charge on a base metal then converted to an alloy
Quantus replied to Fuzzosaurus's question in Cosmere Q&A
Generally, even if it was your own investiture, it would scramble things enough that you would not be able to recover it. When you burn a Metalmind to get the Feruchemcial effect it is magnifying whatever the existing Charge would do, so I think it would do the same Nothing that the Metalmind lets you tap. Alternatively it might behave like a bad alloy and make the Allomancer sick. -
The surge-granting Fabrials are a little special and they do touch the spiritweb (and risk Savantism which is a warping of it). They are also a type of weak spren Bond so I think the are like the Honorblades in that respect.
-
Honorblades Bond to your Spiritweb to allow you to use teh Surges, and the Spren are copying that same mechanism (with what becomes a much stronger Bond). So if a Nicrosil Soulbearer could Store and Retrieve the ability to use a Surge from a Radiant Bond, I think it should be able to equally store the "prototype" Honorblade Bond.

Alas, we tried and tried until this came out: Also, the whole rosharan system shares the 10 theme, with braize as the exception at 9:

I should clarify that Im picturing the state in space age, so hundreds of years and several generations from now. If Dalinar's still around he'd be either with the Stormfather or a bargained tool of Odium.

Start putting things off for later. When you get that low bubble rumble in your belly...

I tend to see it all both Uniting and fracturing more than that, with some members of all orders and races rallying around each of the three Bondsmiths. As for the Stormfather and Sibling, I think they might feel a lot less attachment and/or loyalty to each other and their parent Shards once those shards have passed on from their "Parents" to recently mortal "children" a time or three.
-
Depends on how successful Dalinar is in Uniting them... But in the long term, I suspect Roshar and the Radiants to split into factions, most likely behind each of the 3 (or more) Bondsmiths.
