  1. It may not be that this is beyond the capacity for a Divine Breath's sacrifice, it could simply be where Platonic Ideal healing methods end and things like ReSealing or Soulcasting take over, sine they are making modifications at the cognitive and/or physical levels instead of reaching out top the Spiritual blueprint. Also Re. Divine Breaths being special, they can affect whole crowds, so there's that. But they are capable of more than just Healing once they figure out how, and as a literal Splinter and 5000-ish breath's worth, it's one of the highest power unit's of Investiture on the field. On the other hand, there is a sliding scale to Spritual Healing too. Radiant Healing can do things Regrowth and even Honorblade healing cannot, because of the way they are infusing their spiritweb more directly and with an increasingly strong and efficient Bond. On the other side, anything external starts getting two people's Perception in the mix (three if a spren is involved), so I could see how that would muddy the waters and limit the effects somewhat.
  2. Oh, I agree completely that you can control what metalmind you store or tap, and similarly even target your healing to specific spots with skill and/or Intent. I just dont think you are locked in to One and Only One Metalmind at a time, which would become a more specific restriction for the mechanization of Arts moving forward, and would also have implications on Compounding (and thus all the Fullborn Vs conversations). At least, not for the commodity investiture metalminds, for Copper and things that are more complex and cohesive, I assume they have to be stored Whole in a single metalmind (or if distributed they cannot be accessed without the whole set or some such).
  3. Snapping is a little more cosmere-wide than just being "Of Preservation" persay, it has more to do with the realmics of it all and how the Spiritweb and Connections work. Allomancer's were born with the allomantic potential (outside godmetal or Hemalurgy shenanigans) and the 'sector' of the spiritweb circuitry to accomplish it all, but to forge the actual power link Connnection to Preservatin that channels the Investiture, their spiritweb needs a Crack for the external Connection to latch on to. Until that happens they are a machine with no power cord attached. Stormlight Archive Spoiler:
  4. Eh, I agree that this doesnt seem like a viable route to gaming the system, but I think in some of the descriptions it does make it sound like folks are storing generically into their entire store, rather than having to cycle through specific metalminds. Gold especially, though to be fair instinct can supplement Intent some with that one. Anyway, I got the feeling a Person can only tap or store a specific amount of attribute but that they could use as few or as many of their metalminds as they held at the time. Otherwise Wax wouldnt have been blowing all his weight reserves for those really dramatic pushes, He'd be limited to just what was in a single metalmind (and I thought he used more than just the one).
  5. Radiants are probably the closest given the armor, shape-shifting weapons and sapient partner talking in his head. AonDor could probably do it with enough legwork and a Seon/Skaze, and a well-designed Nightblood sibling might be able to encompass most of it with the right Form and Command.
  6. Definitely sounds interesting, I do always find it interesting to see how other languages translate the more esoteric fantasy terms.

  9. Worse even. The Tornado scale tops out at 318 MPH for the top F5 tornados. So it would be worse that any tornado Earth has seen in modern history, and the size of a country. It would level the landscape and destroy nearly all plant plant-life. There's a reason Rosharan flora is coral-like and withdraws into stone shelters during Highstorms.
  10. Thematically it would make sense for it to be a multiple of 2 (and/or 16). On the other hand, as described the Bindpoint locations seem to have more to do with the general anatomy of the Spiritweb itself rather than Hemalurgy, and the spiritweb's shape likely hasnt changed at all since the pre-shattering days of Microkinesis.
  11. Just to through a wrinkle in this whole conversation: The only Connection Medallion we've actually seen stored "Blank Connection" that is "Connection to No Place" and since Connection has to be two-sided it "reaches out and Connects you to the place you are." Which makes no bloody sense by the currently known rules, since you can use Feruchemy to Blank your Connections by Storing them, so I have no clue how you'd go about Storing the Blanked Connection itself. All that to say, this means Connection is going to be weird and likely not Intuitive compared to the others, especially since it's the only Feruchemy that can affect others, but we dont really know the nuance yet.
  12. I dont think you need to go to that level of cross-magic effort with Breaths. They are built to change Identity with the Commands already (it happens when they are passed, or when Lifeless are made, etc). So Joe should be able to choose to store them in an Identity-less state that anyone could recover, as part of the Intent of the Storage Command. But separately, we have been told that you become Vulnerable to all kinds of things while you blank Identity. The question is whether blanking your own "active" identity via Feruchemy would be enough to Strip the Breaths Investing you of the Identity Encoding that keys them to you while they are elsewhere. Because while they are still in Joe, they are investing his physical body and granting Heightenings and whatnot, they arent in a static storage state as they are in an object.
  13. Even without refinement requirements, harmonium will never be as abundant as uranium (or any naturally occurring element) is on earth, and Trellium might as well be a unique Meteor rock since it's fundamentally not native. Im not saying they wont be factors in future events, but it'll be the realm of Governments (and there arent many by Cold War standards) and whatever criminal/insurrection groups that are able to acquire that tier of weapon tech. Harmonium might be required for a lot of tech so it will be somewhat available. Trellium, on the other hand, can be locked down and controlled pretty well since it only has applications for superweapons and shardic heresies.
  14. Ahhh, not yet, but Im trying. I still dont see your point/problem with two realms' means of travel, and Im not sure what you mean by Coherent in this context. They are two separate worlds with a lot of interconnection that operate on non-physical rules and mechanisms. I think this part is just not true in the Cosmere's Three Realm's model, or at least it would only still hold true in the Physical Realm. There are three kinds of travel in the cosmere possible: Physicals Realm travel that we've been told will eventually allow for Sci-fi style FTL to actually move through the physical vastness between worlds in the star cluster that is the Cosmere (and is an absolute rabbit-hole of insanity thanks to the lack of redshift effects in Speed Bubbles). Cognitive Realm travel where you transition your body to a completely other dimension, walk around for a bit, and transition back from a different place with different Connections to the Physical realm; you dont actually reach relativistic speeds and require/gain the necessary Energy involved in that, you are just traversing a different geography entirely and the realities and limitation of the -physical realm simply dont reach over. And then there is still Spiritual Travel, which is actual instantaneous teleportation through the Spiritual Realm where all space and time exists as one, and infinite energy can pour in and out to balance the equations when magic breaks reality (this is the go-to explanation in WOB's). Both the second and third options will allow you to outrun your own shadow, so to speak, because the sliding time scale of general relativity dont factor in for those circumstances.
  15. First off, Welcome to the Shard! 1. It's not really that orderly. The Cognitive realm simply doesnt follow strict geometry (like how the sphere of Roshar is a plane with edges to other worlds) and doesnt perfectly map 1:1 to the Physical Realm. Only areas with significant populations (or at least significant and specific thoughts about them, like a moon that hasnt been reached) are reflected. So the distances between planets get compressed to basically nothing, and are not very orderly, but could change/expand if a large enough population moved to space, which is gunna start happening eventually. 2. This is more of a more of a sidebar, but I would argue that Time in the Cosmere is still Objective, just varied and manipulatable, in the same way a persons Age is an objective thing that atium compounding can only pull away from it's "true" point, with all the snap-back effect that can happen. But different locations can have different "natural" rates, per normal relativity with physical gravity, and a similar effect with extreme concentrations of Investiture (like the Dor, and likely Shardpools). That all being said, the Superposition question is a good one. Different planetary regions of the cognitive realm have different expressions, like weird Rosharan inversion that has both people and objects reduced to flames and beads that are in the general vicinity of their Physical counterparts but not directly co-locating. But there's more visible overlap with the misty effect seen on Scadrial. 3. I dont think we know, but it's a good question. I suspect it would simply overload and pop the bubble, which can happen with aluminum as an example. Now, if somebody like a Bondsmith were doing it and trying to actively Connect to the allomancer, all kinds of trans-magic weirdness could likely happen.
  16. That and Travel to and from Braize is restricted at best (it's essentially a prison planet) so he might be warry of getting stuck there.
  17. If I understand you, I agree that it now a scientific question and not a philosophic one: we need experimental Data. If, for example, its the Physical Harm that is the key, then he might be able to punch an Honorspren living in Lasting Integrity, but not a Bonded spren that has been pulled to the Physical World. And depending on what Dawnshard he held, that could be a reasonable line. Or it could be way off. When did that happen? I dont recall any scenes on Braize.
  18. From the things we know about Hoids limit, his ability to eat lab-grown meat (or something he thinks is lab-grow), and his punching Kelsier that time. I think he is prevented from doing Physical Harm, but is entirely allowed to do Cognitive Harm (Lies, emotional allomancy, biting storytelling, etc. etc). Next Experiment is to see if he can punch a Spren in the CR, and if he can punch a Radiant that has physicals travelled to the CR. Then we can start playing in the real Nuance, like how much Forgery based Change can he force on a person before it's considered Harm? Taken further, can he Soulcast a person, since it's a Cognitive "conversation" instead of a Physical Attack?
  19. Yes. Literally everything has a spiritual aspect (even objects), and we have several examples of cognitive shadows having interactions with Spiritweb-affecting magics, whether they have a physical body or not.
  20. Welcome! We like to use separate Introduction topics so we can ask some "Getting To Know You" questions and give them our full attention instead of it all getting lost in an ongoing conversation. What's your favorite Sanderson work so far?
  21. Not yet, or at least nothing has been released. We know that, in addition to the actual Aons, there is a phonetic Aonic Alphabet for sounds that dont have a direct Aon, and that likely is also used for Numbers. We've been told he never fleshed out that alphabet but that it was loosly based on the Hangul alphabet. We also have this rather long WOB on the linguistic roots of the thing, for background, but we dont have an actual list the way we do for the Steel Alphabet.
  22. Awakening is definitely the way to go for complex articulated appendages. Anything metal/mineral has the obvious problem so maybe use a high-strength organic polymer (spidersilk, Maybe kevlar, etc.) and organic carbon fiber equivalents. For Diablo wings traditional awakening, cannot be used to emit energy like heat or light, per WOB. I havent read Tress, but I dont know if So they arent going to glow, but they can be prehensile since Vasher does that with cloth a lot. I think so, I recall making that argument once for the possible forms of Shardblades, which I assume would translate to Nightblood siblings. We've know spren can make non-lethal forms if they dont want to Cut. I think they could Cut with anything they and/or their Radiant considers and visualizes as a Cutting Tool. Swords and soldier tools are most common, obviously, but a lot of Radiants traditionally had roles off the battlefield, including craftspeople. So I think of a Garrote: in the hands of a typical assassin it could strangle but not Cut, but in the hands a potter or other clayworker, who regularly uses a string as a tool to separate material, I think it could Cut a person as easily as clay.
  23. A Draw might be an interesting outcome the Contest of Champions didnt really plan for.
  24. Per WOB, some of the scholars on Nalthis are closer to understanding realmics, etc than anyone who isnt an outright worldhopper. But there are a lot of different cultures on Nalthis, and the Court seemed to be one of the more oppressively decadent ones that hid a lot of knowledge from everyone including themselves in the name of their religion. Im sure there were individuals who new more within it's borders, but all the things they'd forgotten was thematically a big part of their downfall overall. EDIT:
