  1. On the other hand, it could prop their spiritweb up in a more complimentary way (not a cure but a more helpful direction for self-development). Nale Bonded the same Order as his Herald Madness so it makes sense that his would not help or even widen the cracks, but perhaps Ash will have a different experience moving to a completely different Order.
  2. If we combine that with this WOB, it sounds like what Pure Atium might actually do is provide a mini/temporary Ascension with whatever Investiture you have available. If that's true it could become really interesting if said person had a more permanent Connection to a source of Investiture (like an Elantrian with the Dor or something), rather than one that needs to be held open by Burning metals. Or what if it's burned inside a perpendicularity, would it pull in the extra ambient investiture to sustain the effect?
  3. If we assume that the allomantic table is still technically correct, then Pure Atium "Grants an expansive view of the Future and enhances the mind's ability to accept, process, and hold information" which might be closer to the See the Stars Spiritual Realm experience Elend had that time when burned too much.
  4. I dont think so, mostly from the example of Nale. His Herald madness seems to be in full swing, in his case it took his signature traits of Justice and Confidence and he's too self-doubting to trust himself or his own sense of Justice with being the Sworn master/guide of the next generation of Skybreakers, even though he (Stallone Voice) Is the Law.
  5. No, as far as I can recall Shardblades have varying weight, they are just often considered lighter than people expect for their typical size (ie lighter than an equivalent steel blade). The max size for a Shardblade, or at least for Syl, is roughly the size of a grown human, but she certainly doesnt weight that much when in knife or even spear form. Also, from a pure combat effectiveness standpoint bigger doesnt always equal better. Ad fwiw, n the real world the design that won out over extra big and/or long Swords were Spears, as generally the most efficient form for reach blades.
  6. With, I think. The illusion of control is helpful to me. Also without a visual reference the spinning is likely to make me puke, and I dont want to die covered in vomit. Offence or Defense?
  7. I would also rather eat a Worm, way less chewing and probably has more nutritional value. Would you Rather Burn to Death or Freeze to Death.
  8. I think this WOB confirms that it's the same set of Platespren once you swear the 4th. The catch is really that the benefits of the Ideals spill over some to before you actual say the Words of a given Oath, and that includes some Defensive capabilities were happening. And he had Windspren following him to unusual places (ie In Shadesmar) as early as OB. It's not confirmed but it would not surprise me that the same Windspren had been following him ever since he was "ready" for the 4th in OB, and their presence and/or budding Bond is what was giving him the spillover 4th ideal protection in RoW.
  9. If mutation and forced things like Hemalurgy are on the table, probably, but like growing an extra limb via DNA modification I think making it functional would be a higher (but still attainable) goal. A Shard could just Do It, and the Nightwatcher probably could too. Any Selish Magic that doesnt have some specific limitation (like Forgery's likelihood requirement) could probably do it since they theoretically reprogram reality with complex languages. There's also that one UnMade that essentially transforms you into a giant gemheart. If you can make it fully functional, you'd be able to hold/trap two Spren. But Singer's need the Investiture abundance of the Highstorm to actually affect the Form change, for that purpose it probably wouldnt do more than just keep it trapped and ready like it was stored in an external gem. On the other hand, if one was normal and one was a Voidspren, you might get the ability to attune either set of Rhythms and control the Red glow of your eyes like Venli does (assuming that doesnt require a dominant Radiant Spren).
  10. I dont think so? Truths certainly would have made it more appealing than the rest but there's still no real upside to them (beyond the Character Growth they'll theoretically inspire). Rosharan Lightweaving is Significantly easier and/or more powerful than what's left to him of Yolish Lightweaving from what we've seen and he's said. Soulcasting might be one of the single most versatile powers in the Cosmere, and WOB says he understands enough to be properly wary of it. The Radiant package in it's own right is pretty nice, with Blade and Plate and one of the most powerful brands of Spiritual Healing around. And I think he'll come to appreciate a Little Buddy around busting his chops and keeping the loneliness from seeping in too deep. But also, he moves around via some unexplained Fortune shenanigan, and it doesn't seem to be in his control so much as a feeling of where and when he Should Be. So he may not exactly have had a real choice so much as a Fated opportunity to seize or pass up.
  11. That WOB says that that color is the relevant thing over molecular Structure for Gems in Rosharan magic specifically, and is another confirmation that draining the Color Does change the molecular structure (in that case Diamond/Ruby/etc to Quartz). He's said there and elsewhere that the issue is that several of the different Essences are all but chemically identical but that molecular structure isnt what matters To Essences. As far as just having Pure Gold that is grey, Nope, that's the whole point here: the WOB I posted is specifically saying the Spiritual Change from color does in fact alter the molecular structure and can be used in creative ways like charging batteries if the specific chemistry is favorable. Draining color from Gold will (apparently) force the material to transform into something else and leave you with a material other than Gold (or else Gold with a layer of something else, per Question #2), the question is more whether it becomes an alloy akin to White Gold or Electrum, some greyscale Oxide or salt Im not aware of, or will it become a greyscale element like Platinum meaning it's capable of driving an atomic-level change for alchemical-style transmutation. EDIT: I guess Electrum or Platinum would require at least some of the Gold to transmute to another element.
  12. I thought about that too but I think it would be odd for Bondsmiths to have so much turnover, with her just Bonding the Sibling and nobody Bonding the Nightwatcher yet. I think it more likely that she'd be there to let the Radiants keep access to a Bondsmith when they lose Dalinar.
  13. We have lots of answers about how Color Drained Gems behave, but I still have questions about Color Draining Metals, and what it might do. The biggest complication is this WOB that says the Color Drain represents the Spiritual change Forcing a physical one, and that it can do things like driving Chemical changes to make the color change work, creating new (though presumably still mundane) materials. What substance do you get when you drain the Color from elemental metals like Gold or Copper? Is the Color Drain surface level or does it affect the object all the way through? Are Invested Objects like Metalminds resistant or Immune to Color Drain? If not can a Coppermind or Goldmind be rendered unTappable by draining it's color (the way it would be if you alloyed it).
  14. I could easily see himself choosing a Self-Sacrifice route to save somebody or something, but it would fundamentally not be Suicide in all the relevant ways, rather it would be all about the core Protective nature of Windrunners. She's slated to be a Flashback POV character in the back half, and the Elsecaller representative there. But Eshonai was supposed to be (and technically was) a flashback POV character and she was not alive by then. It worked for her because of Venli presence, but I dont think the same narrative forms would work for Jasnah (who has no comparable support characters).
  15. Generally I look at who's story still has obvious threads to address or not: Adolin wont Die, because Maya's story is still unfolding and he's required for it. Dalinar wont Die...He'll be UnMade and Fused, which is pretty close. Kaladin could Die, but only after swearing the 5th. Szeth could Die as the Destination for his Journey back to Shinovar. Shallan could Die, as part of a big Ash Reveal and setting up Ash's more active participation in the back half. Jasnah could Die but but it would be really complicated to make her the Flashback POV character (way more than last time). Rock will Die, because he's not going to let anyone save him...
