  1. To add to this point, when the Stornfather tries to hold Syl back and she says he can't stop her if Kaladin says the worlds, it is made clear that he could keed her from reconecting the bond, wich may indicate that he has some power over the nahel bond. Remember that by that time Syl was already ressurected, but not fully bonded, possibly being held at shadesmar.
  2. I don't... How the... What. My sense of humor dies not registrate this. My sense of artistic merit is screaming in denial. My sense of logic doens't care anymore. My sense of compassion looks down on you all for enjoying this kind of humor. Just kidding. But that is not my kind of humor.
  3. The problem is that the Listeners are always in humanoid, pseudo-mammal forms, and only some of them have carapace, wich isn't realy a strong link to the crusracean majority. Where did they come from? To say that they evolved from crustaceans or fish and all lifeforms in between or evolutionary "cousins" are extinct is a bit too much to swallow. Especialy when we know that the godlike Adonalsium visited Roshar before, and he shattered on a planet habitated by humans. It is much simplier and logical for them to be his direct creations.
  4. Maybe Nalthians are only born with 0.7 soul units+Breath, the 0.3 that lacks being replaced by the "hole" through wich the Breath attaches itself to the soul. Has anyone asked if you need a cracked spiritweb to receive Breath?
  5. Jasnah: You are a hydrogen bomb! Rock(not the horneater): I am a ro... Jasnah: No, you aren't! ... And so the shattered plains were shattered an third time
  6. Since Szeth was trained as a assassin and spies on his targets before atacking (see: WoK, chapter 71: Recorded in blood) he most likely knew Adolin was dangerous in the first fight and just got him out of the way so he could kill his father. In the second fight, he had just thrown two hiprinces into the sky and slaughtered their guards, so he probably thought it was brutal and bloody enough for Mr.T.
  7. 2d Animation, not necessarily anime. I think it would be better to portray the Rosharan peoples, since none corresponds directly with an real world ethiny. Althought I would prefer a more "realistic" style of drawing, since SA is a mostly serious story. Not only I don't think live-action can't do its setting justice, but I also think animation can convey a serious, deep narrative properly.
  8. The reason that I like Szeth is because of my interpretation of the Shin above. It is fascinating, in a dark way, to see how such culture and mentality can turn even the most compassionate of people into tools of destruction, and how his compassion, when contained, only serves to torture him. I only hope that he can find peace, now that he realized the Stone Shamans are wrong. Now he only needs to abandon a lifetime of obedience, come to peace with himself and tell Nin to storm off, so... Well, one can only hope. If it helps understand my liking of the character, I see Szeth as a victim of his culture, almost deprived of his free will, and his flaw is not a lack of morality, but of strenght to disobey, and I believe one should not be punished for being too weak.
  9. That is because you were a voidbringer, not a truthwatcher that the ardents mistook for a voidbringer
  10. Brandon has contradicted himself before on this matter of drabs and investiture. On a WoB(I won't link it now because I am on mobile) about investiture interfering with allomancy, he said that drabs have less of a soul than regular humans, but do have one, and said that in raw amount of investiture it is a toss up between then and lifeless, at least when it comes to using allomancy on metals inside them.
  11. Citation for Adonalsium being both the creator and power source? I just assumed that since Leras had to use his own power to created the Scadrian humans Adonalsium had to do the same to created the original ones.
  12. That is why you are a squire... Real truthwatchers are lynched as voidbringers on day one...
  13. The way I understand the Shin is that it is like a nation wide cult, every member shamed, scared and brainwashed since birth to obey the cult leaders, with no possibility of release else their soul is destroyed. I suspect that such cult was created to prepare for the final desolation, since Szeth says in his WoR interlude that he raised the alarm, but I think its leaders went drunk with power and didn't want to share their Blades and secrets with the world, so they created an rule that who raises the alarm too early, risking their secrecy, is turned into a truthless. Szeth, brainwashed since his birth to obey, does what any good machine would do and complies.
  14. You are assumin the only way a shar can battle another is brute force. Preservation was able to trap Ruin despite being weaker, for exemple. The only direct exemple of shardic combat we had was rather poor, with two diametricaly opposite shards, so we don't know what can and cant be done on other situations. All in all, it is too soon to say that Odium needs more raw power to be dangerous.
  15. 1. How do you know if the voidbringer listener forms aren't older than the KR? The supposed betreyal of spren indicates surgebinders, but the Knights Radiant came way after that.2. The description of the figures was terribly vague. They were luminous and had limbs. So what? Syl is luminous and generaly has limbs.
  16. Adonalsium is dead. Gone. Shattered and scattered across the universe. Their inate investiture must come from somewhere else now. Unless there is a big "unused primal investiture" pool out there that for some reason only beings directly descending from those created by Adonalsium can acess I am not sure if that makes so much difference.
  17. I am not sure if Szeth can be considered a free man now. Actualy, one of the reasons I wanted his flashbacks was because I like the character, but don't like where he is headed in the present. Used as a weapon by another secret society? Bringing "justice" when he should either have decided that justice is meaningless or that he shouldn't be the one bringing it? Teaming up with Nightblood of all things?! Often I think Szeth should have stayed dead, for the only other way he could find peace, by abandoning his blind obedience and taking the long and arduous path of learning to differentiate good and evil on his own, seems more and more distant.
  18. Nowhere it is said that it is fully proportional to the person's descent. There is probably a limited random element, wich would explain why Renarin has mostly black hair and Adolin has mostly golden hair without raising the doubt of why Dalinar didn't ask himself whatever they were both his children.
  19. Maybe her hemalurgic earring made her more vulnerable to emotional allomancy?
  20. I doubt the intent of the shard has so much influence on the beings it creates. Is Nightblood concerned about endowning things? Is Torol Sadeas more honorable or creative than Straff Venture? Are the people of Sel more concerned about conquest and domination than the avarage Alethi highlord? Wouldn't the extra ruin and preservation even out in the end?
  21. Why can't Sazed just give humans equal amounts of Ruin and Preservation? Isn't just having the extra investiture enough to make them sentient, no matter where it comes from? It is just that Ati was unwilling to expend that extra power, wasn't it?
  22. Sorry. I was the one little imp throwing red arrows at Kaelloks posts. I deeply regret it. I can often get protective of characters I like, and comparing Szeth to the Joker triggered my unjustified rage. I wish not to excuse myself, just explain my actions. Was I more fluent at this language I would have posted a defence, not of his actions or intent, but of his non-evil or sociopathic nature. Instead I let the hate flow throught me. It seems that, like Szeth, I am weak. I am sorry.
