  1. The main problem with people having guns at home is that they are either close enough and easy enough for a drunken or unstable adult or teenager to pick and use, or hard enough to reach to be generaly useless.
  2. I saw an interesting theory the Set was working with the Southerners, who wanted the resources of Elendel Basin, and that was why they were able to recover from the events from AoL and still have enough aluminium to arm their thugs.
  3. Some animals are more equal than others?EDIT: On the policing issue, I think it is easier to instill a mentality of impartiality, respect for life and merciful justice in a select trained group than in a whole community. I don't know many nomadic societies, but I doubt their sense of proper justice aligns with mine. Of course, here in Brazil there are both policial executions of minor criminals and wild lynch mobs and vigilantism. I wonder if I shoud feel grateful for not being poor or guilty that these dangers seem so distant I feel like they are happening in another country.
  4. What if I prefer my shih-tzu to Twi's pugs? What if I want cats and dogs to have equal rights? THERE IS NO ESCAPE FROM POLITICS!!
  5. Lets see what the Szeth haters will say after that.
  6. I am afraid I cannot simply abstain from this discussion without replying even once. And when I get passionate about something I find it hard to be subtle, so I am sorry if this sounds rude. However, I must say that I am firmly in a pro-government side, however corrupt or inneficient it may be, and find a true anarchist society to be impossible and undesirable. I will focus this post on Kobold's list: In your hypothetical anarchist society, how would be crime dealt with then? What would stop criminal from setting themselves as local lords? It is wonderful home schooling worked for you, but I doubt it can work in every family out there. So your community produces all it needs on its own? And it is invulnerable to anything that may hamper or destroy such capacity in the local area? A new tyrant is generaly worse than a old one, either for having even less reason to care for your well-being or for the shear damage it will do by conquering. Maybe, but a lot of them will be killed. And some consider it better to bow under a tyrant than to die for freedom, depending on how bad the tyrant is. Not everyone has such compassionate family and community.Again, I hope this does not sound rude, but that is what I thought.
  7. If I remember the WoB correctly, he and Sazed share the position of most knowledgeable non-worldhopper.Frost probably knows more about Adonalsium and the nature of each shard while Sazed probably knows more about general rules all shards obey and the nature of investiture and Realmatics.
  8. While I don't believe the Stone Shamans are forbidden to use violence, since cult leaders often make themselves above their own laws and Szeth's behavior makes me think of someone brainwashed by a mad cult, I do think they wouldn't see a great magical battle as the most efficient method to recover the Honorblade.
  9. But... Wax already snaped...
  10. You assume they will storm Urithiru shardblades alight and kill everyone in their way like Kelsier stealing Atium. They could very well try to take it silently if it is still unbounded.
  11. *you get an one armed herdazian* I have depression, an honorspren, slave brands... If my eyes weren't hazel I'd be Kaladin! *inserts bitterness*
  12. It is not that bad, really. If I didn't fit so well other aspects, I would say I am only a moderately clumsy person. I heavily exagerated the "complete lack" part. Blame the text-only medium if you will.
  13. "Champion" seems to mean something very specific that applies to the current conflit between Honor and Odium, even if it could happen to other shards. For other cases, I prefer the term "agents".
  14. You get a flute contest between Sadeas and Amaram, with the Lord Ruler as a judge! *inserts lashing*
  15. Ops, I meant Dustbringers. Sorry.
  16. While I was joking,
  17. Well, Taln will be on the back five. He is very minor, if you ignore the fact he is an Herald. But yes, we are lacking major characters who seem to fit the Dustbringers. That may be because we got a very biased view of the order, however.
  18. There are some who believe it will be Redin, the half-eyed bastard of King Valam. I think he is more of a Skybreaker, but hope we will see him again. Killing your own father on his orders... The poor guy will need much help to recover from it.
  19. The angry order... I can see why they were so angry, being know as the angry order and all. I think people assume too much about the Releasers. Just because they would approve of the killing of Sadeas does not mean they are the Knights Hitmen. Just because they hated being called dustbringers does not mean they were angry and violent. For me the attributes of Bravery and Obedience actualy mean Improvement and Duty. The dustbeingers as I se them would always push their thresholds, try to outgrow their weakness. They never abandon their duty, not because of the stubborness of the Stonewards, but because they know the consequences of failing and will take responsability for it. Reminds me of a certain general that forced soldiers to paint and abandoned her love of exploration because of duty to her people. Eshonai could go both ways, in my opinion, even if I prefered that she became a Willshaper.
  20. I am not saying a doctor who is distant is worse than a very caring one. The opposite is often true, actualy. But House is a blatantly unprofessional doctor who cares more about proving his genius than saving people, if I remember well. In real life, that would hardly work well for the patient.EDIT: But I agree this is getting out of topic. And I never said anything about Wayne.
  21. I think you are making numbers up. And in real life a doctor who behaved like House wouldnt be very likely to be as efective as House was portrayed to be. Again, you can't really use House as an exemple for hiw something works in reality, because it is fiction.
  22. We never saw a character become fully weightless. And I think there is an old WoB saying the max storing rate depends on the feruchemist's strenght.
  23. Nice one. Now we must look into all our PoVs that aren't dead or from other order. For now I suspect Navani the most, followed by Axies.
  24. You get a Herald! *inserts depression* sucks to be a drab.
