  1. Thrill is of the Unmade... Somehow. Anyway, binding spren seems to be common among native Roshar fauna. All Greatshells seem to have one, Skyeels have some spren helping them, etc. That is probably common symbiosis. And larger Greatshells do seem to be intelligent, or close to it. They have been like that for a while. The Chasmfiend spren, for example, seem to support his mass, allowing it the speed and size that it reaches. Perhaps they can be "infected" by voidspren while they pupate or something, but I don't think they are inherently evil, per se, no more than any large, hungry predators are.
  2. Obviously, I am a fool unable to write even a simple brute solver Depressed. Nice work, Darmad.
  3. Maybe it is a xor (or any modulo) code, then? You take one epigraph, xor it with this and et voila - other text emerges! Then again, amybe not. But this *is* helpful.
  4. Too many people for me to keep track of... For what it is worth (nothing, I guess ) here are the results of the parses I wrote that tried to incrementally fit words from WoR to code. It never got to the end of string, as far as I can tell, so it is rather useless, but it tried a lot of possible splittings rlog_full.txt
  5. 'Fraid not, by Toutatis . This movie is overdue for a remake, say, "12 tasks of Asterix on Roshar" sounds good.
  6. OK, a few points: Feruchemical gold can, indeed, heal Shardblade wounds (WoB). The normal Lashing as attack for Windrunner is upwards, not down, so Pewter won't help, though Steel may (assuming they fight on rock plains, and Inquisitor has some metal coins). Shardblade is way more invested than Spikes, so it would probably cut through them. It is unknown what cutting the spikes would do, or even if the spikes count as alive or dead when they are in the Inquisitor (they are part of his Spiritual makeup, so...) Anyway, if Inquisitor is burning Atium, and /or compounding steel and zinc, he may win. In fact, though not guaranteed, enough Feruchemical zinc/Feruchemical steel should spped Inquisitor up enough to just walk and cut Windrunner to pieces while he finishes blinking at the sight of metal spikes in the face Otherwise, I'd say Inquisitor is dead.
  7. "By Osiris and by Apis, you have turned into a wild boar. Yes, a wild boar. Err, I mean, Fire"
  8. SA-specific word and ngram dictionaries, for those who want them... twok_1l.txt twok_2l.txt twok_3l.txt twok_4l.txt twokwords.txt
  9. Welcome, welcome Compression is implicit in some of the algorithms, though it is very primitive. The thing is, distribution in the code is very far from uniform , so compression during its creation is unlikely ( uniform distribution has the largest information density, iirc )
  10. Isn't that the Void or KR chart from WoK?
  11. Btw, I think Hoid was confirmed to the the strongest non-shard entity during Brandon writing marathon , but I may be wrong about that.I guess my question should be rewritten as " is it possible to permanently fuse Spten and Human? Make the bond unbrokable or even fuse their bodies ? With Hemalurgy , perhaps?"
  12. Ask if it is possible, with some judicious application of Hemalurgy, to fuse a spren and human permanently? So that the bond would become unbreakable (or human incapable of breaking it), etc .
  13. Ok, annealing half of the message (even positions only) gave once a string "raredaycantitevereeiseehipkyq" and "raredaywantitevereeiseehigfyk" which seems... promising, I guess
  14. Ninjas! Ninjas everywhere  <_< But what he said.
  15. Ok, my annealing algorthm got stuck in the "the" rut: "tthetimwhatethatityblandftbvxhhisjezthathetherthhofthethwickingtheereaqutinthethestex" I have modified the scoring and am now trying the suggestion of splitting it into odd/even substrings, as proposed above. It spit out rayze once "ewhefringthespudceocrrayzeheevameboar" Also something weird, like "okathedorwoumysouloftreeingboothewo" ... I am starting to think there are a lot of decodings made out of real words but meaning nothing... I need a better scoring system.
  16. That might be a good idea, actually. I'll check it out tomorrow if it is not solved by then
  17. Brandon may not be evil, but he listens to the whispers of Peter, who, on a bad day, might be. That said, I am going to run some simulated annealing on the thing, and see what more gibberish would the thing spit in my face (assuming still English)
  18. Tried that out in Brandon-geared hillclimber, still no luck. It may not work for Alethi.. or as well as some others, actually, though.
  19. Boy do I feel inadequate (slinks quietly away)
  20. I've added some discussion points into OP, but can't think clearly anymore...
  21. The simplest, yet not really helpful guess would be that he was so far in the zone that he slipped into code automatically now and then . I know that to be a problem from the time I still understood higher math. The only way that could help is to rule out transposition as somewhat less probable - unless he wrote in a spiral or something.
  22. If you think they'd answer, then sure, ask them Better than the frustration reducing me to a state when I start rhythmically hitting my head on the wall to calm down ( it has happened before )
