Why not? I realise we're pretty deep into the territory of opinion now and there's few hard facts but... That's like claiming that they probably weren't inclined to make their distribution of terrain follow normal patterns of geology, but we don't see square mountains or anything silly like that. Indeed, the abberant things were all the result of Rashek's meddling. I feel like if they were going to make a bunch of people, they'd probably make a token effort at making them appear to be a product of their environment. Grab some people designed after highlanders from Yolen and chuck them in some of the high places in Scadrial, and so on.

Haha well, firstly, you might have wanted to post this in the Secret History Spoilers area. On topic, this might be why Kelsier has spiked his eye; either to retain his identity and memory or to transition to the physical world or to move himself to the physical realm. Secondly, as to the issue of losing memory when going between realms...I don't think this is necessarily an issue of transitioning itself but more an issue of how and what. To clarify, with Returned the body actually dies (the tie to the physical is lost) and the spirit is...altered...and returned. This would seem like an issue of "how". Contrast to Hoid and Khriss who retain their physical bodies throughout the whole process. With Spren (or bondspren at least), I feel it is a similar issue. They generally don't exist in the physical realm save for when they cross the bounds and in the physical realm they need to bond with a person to gain and retain cognition. This is sort of the issue of "what". Contrast to Jasnah and Shallan who have and retain their bodies. In both the case of Returned and bondspren the transitioner doesn't initially have a tie to the physical realm and must make one. For worldhoppers, and Soulcasters, they retain theirs and need only to cross between realms. That's my thoughts. Finally for Kelsier again, we don't know how he made a body. I would suspect it isn't his original body but rather one made to resemble it...either by accident or design.

Well. Thinking about it. The humans on Scadrial were made after a template. We don't know how close they were to the original and how close Scadrial is to Yolen. It is possible they were more or less biological carbon copies of populations that were influenced by natural selection.

Surviving. So..himself?
-
My thoughts exactly. Not to mention we've seen Commands of four words which would take...what? Practically forever? I'm betting the Lifeless would wear out before you guessed it in this method.
-
Hmm. An explanation reliant on Soothing or Rioting would seem out of place based on Tevidian's behavior. Don't get me wrong, you could do what you're saying, but I don't think that's what Rashek did.
-
Ah excellent. Suffice it to say then that I don't think Ruin's changing of existing words was constrained by Preservation to that extent. As We also see this in WoA where the mist spirit can remove the paper that was altered, but couldn't stop Ruin from altering it.
-
Really? I'd actually think the opposite. Kinda like... +1 But yeah, if Tevidian acted entirely differently, if he was still authoritative and confidant, and TLR could just...know...that would be one thing. But he pales, and for all we know he changes his tone of voice. Things TLR could see, especially with access to both Allomantic tin and Feruchemical tin.

I'm with cometary. I think the Terris people, in this sense, might be like inuit or nepalese people...who are really quite tan compared to the, as I understand it, rather Caucasian rest of the Final Empire. The real question is how much the breeding programs altered this.
-
Maybe. But he also implies the process was still unpleasant for him. If it was a loophole I'd figure he ought not feel.any unpleasantness at all.

I think it'd be really cool to see an actually just Skybreaker. Eventually.

I don't think Lirin was a patticularly good parent though. Maybe it is just the snapshot we see of him but almost everything he does seems to relate to his personal way of life and his goal to have Kaladin move up in terms of social rank and become a great surgeon. I kinda think he's like one of those atheletes who want their child to be just like them, but better. However, to give some benefit of the doubt... Lirin seems to want to honour his ancestors; he doesn't want to waste all the work they've done. But, it is possible that he realises that his only real skill in life is surgery and if he can't teach Tien that maybe it is best he make his own way. On the other hand, Kaladin has a genuine shot at being a great surgeon and knowing the bond they have, it is also possible Kaladin could take care of Tien. Pretty much empty guessing at this point, but it baffles me that such a good man could be such a relatively poor father.

Yo Yata. Weird, yes. But not impossible? One person can, I believe, bond mutliple spren. Unless that WoB is outdated? I'd assume the reverse was possible. But to the point of your argument..maybe that is true of other spren, but there seem to be oddities of associated with the Stormfather at least. Like, he doesn't seem to be drawn to or required to stay near his bonder in the same way Syl or Pattern do. Now maybe that is due to his status as a Cognitive Shadow, but maybe there is an intrinsic difference associated with mega spren?
-
Hmm. Maybe. But I could imagine several bondsmiths could bond their mega spren. Like..maybe you could have 5, but it'd be weird. You probably couldn't have 300 though. Speaking of spren. Syl is honourspren, a spren who is heavily aligned with honour, do we know if she is actually an Honourspren? Or is she some subtype of honourspren? Like a swellkeepstheirwordanddoestherightthing-spren?
-
True. But I think in many ways this is because more than anything Lirin identified as a surgeon and Tien couldn't follow this path while Kaladin could have been great. Remember Lirin's life philosophy is pretty much built around saving people and Tien couldn't do that.

Throwing this out there, again, but the Stone Shamans could be the decendents of the Skybreakers. As far as theories go it isn't bad. It is true though that it shouldn't be stated as a fact as we don't know it. But, like, if you accept that they are the decendents of some order of radiants I'd say the Skybreakers seem pretty good candidates.

Ah shoot. I presume this is based on WoB I haven't read.

Then why the torture?

[WoB] Bavadin and the Splintering of Dominion and Devotion

Hmmm. Good point. Hoid might not necessarily know they cooperated though. -
Maybe. But I think it is more than that. I think Hoid might actually be some sort of human construct given a few quirks of his nature (being maybe spiritually blind, unable to hurt living people). It might be a meta reference, but I think there's more than that.

What are you playing right now?

Dishonoured 2 is just downloading. Don't expect to see me around for a while. -
Yeah. I think it is hard sometimes because a lot of comic book characters are white guys, so the most straightforward adaptions can be stupidly white and male heavy and so the movies really don't need to be any more white. Then again, I think most of the roles were well acted.

I think it is pretty clever. Think about it. If Kel had just found a" kill the lord ruler plan" a few things would have happened. Firstly, and most importantly, the Eleventh Metal mysticism might not have taken place and this was a key part of the early skaa mythos around Kelsier. This myth inspired the skaa to rebel after Kel died and this was important for the overthrow of the Lord Ruler. Further, this plays into Ruin's hands by fracturing the Final Empire which could potentially have been reincarnated in some stable form. Secondly, a vague promise about a metal is a myth that can be believed by Kelsier and others. But a legend about how to kill Rashek? The crew would expect it wouldn't work, because the Lord Ruler is still alive, so whatever the method it was either ineffective or untested. Worse, if the crew know that TLR can be killed by removing his bracers and circulate that as their plan (or tell anyone) this is far far more likely to wake Rashek from his depression and inattention. Knowing the skaa are rebelling again is one thing, knowing they know he stays alive through atium compounding is quite another. Considering a lot of the early successes of the rebellion are due to the Lord Ruler simply not caring about them, this is quite the opposite. I'd imagine it'd bring all Rashek's attention right down. As a note, it'd probably be hard for Ruin to communicate this idea. He tends to take things that already exist and alter them, not completely write them anew. Remember, words like Fullborn don't exist on Scadrial, and at the time communications about things like compounding or hemalurgy would be strictly controlled and hard for Kelsier to obtain. Ruin can see the future, the approach he took was likely enough to inspire the crew and skaa, but subtle enough to leave them unaware of manipulation. Finally it made things much more chaotic.

I think that becomming a Radiant definitely requires a cracked spiritweb, which occurs as a result of hardship. However, I don't think that same cracked spiritweb always is associated with what we'd call mental illness or a neuro atypical nature. It can be, but mental illnesses and neuroatypicality are both smaller subsets of a wider whole. Likewise I could imagine there'd be people who had mental illnesses, or were NA, and who didn't have broken spiritwebs. Finally there'd be, probably, people who were neurotypical and mental illness free but who had experienced enough suffering that they were broken enough for the spren to bond.
