Why Nahel Bonds result in 2 Surges
The One Who Connects replied to ArborealEtymologist's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I was referring to the OP's 2 combination ideas. I somehow missed that you linked your old theory (what I get for doing this away from home ) Sorry for the confusion there.- 12 replies

I'm gonna edit and delve deeper once I'm at home, but I'm making it clear now that I am disputing the claim that "focus" is not a canon term. I scrolled through all 216 entries on Theoryland that contained the word "focus" and at least 4 of them use it the way we(I?) use it without Brandon correcting us. It's not definitive, since they were 2 RAFO's, a paraphrased "right track" and a "yeah kinda."

Why Nahel Bonds result in 2 Surges
The One Who Connects replied to ArborealEtymologist's topic in Cosmere Discussion
My biggest issue with both theories is Lift and Wyndle. Both combo theories have "healing" with Abrasion, when healing is kinda "Progression's" thing. I might be overdoing the semantics, but it's one of the few direct connections we could make from attribute to surge without having to make leaps of logic. Also, there's an old WoB that the pairs are the way they are for a reason, from when one of us asked about the specific class restrictions of the Surges.- 12 replies

You should take a look at the link I posted an hour ago. Makes it all sound a lot more feasible when certain things are considered. Also from the bit I linked is a source that the Prelude of WoK is 6,000 years from the shattering, not current era Roshar. Current era is around the 11,000 mark.

edgedancer Ishar's Role in the Current State of Roshar
The One Who Connects replied to Aoibheann's topic in Stormlight Archive
A point to be considered about what "Ishar believes" is that he was right: Taln's participation in the Oathpact did keep it intact. Depending on when the insanity began, he may have been right about other things and we just don't know it. -
Question about light eyes/dark eyes
The One Who Connects replied to Jujubear3589's topic in Stormlight Archive
I interpreted the two quotes as marrying into a lighteyed family would bring prestige, but you would still be a Darkeyes in their eyes. You would be at, if not above, the First Nahn via marriage, but your Lighteyed kids outrank you by virtue of them being in the Dahn system. Dahn > Nahn, regardless of the fact that Parent > Child. Basically: You're a Lighteyes for all intents and purposes, but your eyes are still dark, so you are lesser. -
Verbatim or not, it's the one I was searching for. Have an upvote. He is paraphrased as saying "much fewer than 99" so odds are he actually said "much less" in some fashion.

Fairly certain that the "corrupted sections of a hard drive" bit was from a different WoB about forging a Metalmind into a different metal. All I remember from the two F-Users with the same Metalmind entry was that the charges are stored separately.

Sorry to rain on Chasmfiend life cycle assumptions, but "We have seen the last stage of their cycle." What we should really be asking is what they start out as, since we've mostly seen stages 2 and 3.

So in regards to timeline, there isn't enough time for one every thousand. Here Also @Shard Slayer there's an old WoB (that I can't easily find) that the 99 was religious license and there were less. (Not sure if "less" or "way less" but..)

Compounding Reforged Metalminds
The One Who Connects replied to 8bitBob's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I googled something when I wrote that which gave me "4% carbon" and "iron and carbon" so guess both I and Google goofed. Nevermind, I'm just blind: "Most steel is made from pig iron (remember: that's an iron alloy containing up to 4 percent carbon) by one of several.." Thats what I get for skim reading -
Cosmere universe and the nature of Adonalsium
The One Who Connects replied to dgenio8's topic in Cosmere Discussion
There's a thread called "Confirmation - Adonalsium was a living being" but it happened a while back so it might take some searching. Basically, the WoB was "Adonalsium died because he was killed." So we have taken that to mean he had a vessel of some sort. Whether it was a normal being or if the Investiture created one on its own, we don't know. (I think Spren/Seons are the only examples of Investiture given Sentience that we've seen, beyond maybe the Dor, so it's possible that the power basically becomes a vessel, from a certain point of view.) -
Is there such thing as a blind Tineye?
The One Who Connects replied to The Honor Spren's question in Cosmere Q&A
Tin boosts the basic senses, not just sight. It's in the prologue chapter when Kelsier burns it. The smells become stronger, the sounds become clearer, the light becomes brighter. He points these out rather quickly, and he isn't a savant. I think the sight comments are entirely due to the fact that we use eyes to see, so we notice that first. For the OP: A-Tin, like F-Tin, shouldn't improve a sense that you don't have like eyesight. Sazed needed a torch in book two, Vin most likely would have too. Blind people would stay blind, but have very good hearing (there's blind people in real life who can navigate via sound, given lots of practice of course, so it's not a stretch to function like that.) and other senses. -
Nightwatcher Boon/Bane (Game)
The One Who Connects replied to killersquirrel59's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Granted. However, since your brain was removed earlier, your head isn't in good shape. But I've got a replacement: You should really look up Morbius from classic era Doctor Who. I wish for motivation to draw. -
A hardware store I've gone to recently sells porch stairs (2-4 steps) for mobile homes & other things, so I can easily see Ivory being able to do it if viewed as a small staircase, rather than several separate steps. We don't view a bookcase as 5 separate shelves, now do we? But I'm fairly certain Brandon has said the stairs on the cover were artistic license. The.. Warsaw signing I believe

Jasnah and the Cosmere *WoR spoilers*
The One Who Connects replied to CosmereQuestioner's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Multiple things of minor/major note (depending on your opinion) 1) We have WoB that Elsecalling is not precise, even with skill and practice. (I doubt she could somehow manage to miss a planet, but a general teleport me "that way" isn't exactly the best idea without planning) 2) I swear there was a Reddit WoB somewhere about worldhopping where Spren could "totally do that" (no distinction b/w bonded and unbonded Spren, so no guarantees on if Ivory can, but it's food for thought.) -
My point was that I was curious how it affected them because I doubted they were on-planet at the time, not that I didn't think they existed at the time. We know they existed before the Reod. It's in Strumienpola's post.

Point One: We have WoB that Odium did not leave any of his power behind on Sel, so I believe that precludes corrupting the Skaze with his power. One of the two WoBs you are looking for definitely exists: something along the lines of "When Odium visited there were no Seons(and Skaze)" I do not recall any WoB that Skaze are more malevolent however. Sure they(and Fjordell) want control, but that's only natural since the Skaze are of Dominion. Fair warning: I may have never seen WoB on this, so don't take my word as proof it doesn't exist.

There was a Reddit WoB (that I'll find tomorrow) about "Bob the Awakener" If he was made into a lifeless after death, he could not recover the breath, but if he became a Returned, he could. As for splitting the object, I think there was a WoB about it, but I may be remembering the one about breaking metalminds. It stands to reason that they would work the same way because "underlying rules and all that..."

Per my memory of terms, I thought the Reod was when the chasm happened, only 10 years before the Elantris book. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong) I would assume that the Ire wouldn't be on world at the time of the Reod just because they seem too.. exploratory. That would segue into your question quite nicely, as how it would affect them while offworld is an interesting thought

stormlight archive Should All Parshmen Be Killed?
The One Who Connects replied to Zennix's topic in Stormlight Archive
He tried saying that those below a certain IQ should commit suicide on one of his "better days" and was persuaded not to do that, so I imagine that he's considered it but wasn't allowed to because of the implications. Now that the world is going downhill, I can see people reacting with a bit less resistance to a Parshmen massacre proposal. The other thing to note was that only recently has he gained control of the rest of Jah Keved, so any orders in the past would have done little outside of Kharbranth.- 29 replies
