How did the Stone Shamans recover the honorblades?
The One Who Connects replied to soulcastJam's topic in Stormlight Archive
I would like to point out that the WoB has a footnote mentioning this discrepancy: Given that Szeth's weapon has been confirmed to be an Honorblade, I think Pagerunner is correct and this is Brandon assuming what the asker meant and answering accordingly. He has had a misstep doing just that before. Someone asked him about Kaladin having Szeth's Honorblade, Brandon assumed we meant Taln's, and said that Kal did not have it. It was clarified, and we know that Kal does in fact have Szeth's Blade.- 7 replies

We know Nalan has his Honorblade via WoB, as Spool said. We know Shalash does not have hers, because she mentioned that her art destruction would be easier if she had a Shardblade. She doesn't even have a normal blade, let alone her Honorblade. Pretty sure that Brandon has stated that wielding an Honorblade would not prevent the user from forming a Nahel Bond, but I believe he said it would depend on the Spren

How did the Stone Shamans recover the honorblades?
The One Who Connects replied to soulcastJam's topic in Stormlight Archive
Popular opinion is that the Circle of Blades were at the center (or at least near the center) of modern day Shinovar. I myself have even speculated that they made their first village/temple after the Desolation at that exact spot. It makes more sense that the Blades were left near where the Shin set up their villages, because anywhere else would require some sort of LotR-esque quest to get them. There was also a WoB where Brandon said that "Historically, they were with the Shin." Granted, that one is getting a bit old so asking for an updated clarification isn't entirely unwarranted.- 7 replies

Elantris Ars Arcanum equates Aons with words, rather than letters. By that logic, you could have nearly as many Aons as there are words in a dictionary. Brandon has also said that unlike Spren, the Seons and Skaze are not that common, so I feel that 1 Seon per Aon seems reasonable. Edit: Additionally, the Coppermind page currently lists 62 Aons.

Metal burn rate not adding up [Bands Spoilers]
The One Who Connects replied to Richard Kopelow's topic in Mistborn
Whether the Lord Ruler had any Nicrosil on him has never been confirmed. He certainly knew of it, but he hid the existence of both it and Chromium to keep his Inquisitors from having tools to use against him. It stands to reason that he did not use it for that reason. Besides, he didn't have to use Nicrosil. He became much more powerful than even a Lerasium bead could make him when he used the Well. Vin can pierce Copperclouds with one small spike, I don't see why the power of Preservation itself couldn't let him overcome innate investiture. Every time we ask about his great strength in Allomancy, Brandon directs us back to the Well. TLR specifically made himself super strong in Allomancy, and we know that his Soothing could only be matched by Elend with Duralumin. If I recall correctly the Bands drained rather quickly, while TLR could soothe a hundred thousand people for several hours. I just don't see him somehow having an even larger Nicrosil battery store than the Bands did. Edit; Better argument: The Inquisitors can see metal inside people's bodies after becoming Savants (they had to learn that way, while a normal savant wouldn't, but..) They only needed 1 A-Steel & 1 A-Iron Spike for this. TLR was far more powerful than one extra spike, so he could push on it with ease. -
WAIT A SEC! IS LOPEN JUST A SQIRE?
The One Who Connects replied to Themasterhunter's question in Cosmere Q&A
I would like to point out that it is the Windrunner Resonance, not the Radiant. Pretty sure you knew that, but your post could've been interpreted vaguely. Also, your second source notwithstanding, the Windrunner Resonance is both strength and number of squires. Windunners had a lot more than normal. -
@Blackhoof I believe Cometary's point was that they could be killed by a normal person wielding a knife. That sounds a bit less protective than armor should allow. (And if he had a glass knife for whatever reason(I don't remember) then it's even better) Elend's words were "make sure it doesn't get caught in their loose skin," which is different than getting stuck while removing the spearhead. This was also brought up for fighting a smaller one, as they are the ones with loose skin. You should read the argument a few pages ago on the total Koloss count in TFE. I still lean towards 50,000. Anything higher seems like overkill, especially given how he doesn't seem to use them that often anymore. As for the "millions" line, the armies are made up of primarily Skaa. He could forcibly conscript any number of Skaa should he choose to, but even ignoring the fact that he probably hasn't had to do this before, he doesn't just carry around a few million suits of armor/swords/etc... in a vault somewhere. And Skaa rebellions fail because they don't know how to fight.

A Letter in Oathbringer?

People have called him a hypocrite before, but never in relation to the Oathpact, so this thread is just fine. As to the question: I cannot speak to his rationale for breaking the pact to begin with, but we do know that at some point he went back and retrieved his Honorblade. It's not conclusive, but it could be a sign of him having second thoughts about his choice.

Name of the Planet: I'd almost certainly say that we got that from Brandon. (Mainly b/c I don't remember it being in AoL.) Sazed goes by Harmony in the future. We may have gotten it from Brandon around the release of AoL, but it was definitely in the books.

The End of Stormlight Archive theory
The One Who Connects replied to NamelessThirteenth's topic in Stormlight Archive
Brandon has said that all of the Heralds were in WoK, in some form or fashion. (Even if it was just a mention, if I remember his wording right) Baxil's Mistress is Shalash, we got that confirmed. Nalan is Nalan, the person next to him in the prologue says things that make the most sense from a Herald's perspective: "We aren't supposed to get worse. Am I getting worse?" among other things. Kalak and Jezrien were in the prelude. Taln in the epilogue(as far as we know). We believe that the person next to Nalan is Kalak, rather than Ishar, so that's either 5 or 6 on screen for sure. Ishar was mentioned by Jezrien in the prelude, there was a "Vedeledev's golden keys" said at some point, and I've got nothing for Chana, Paliah, or Battar. -

Somebody make a Mistborn anime!!!
The One Who Connects replied to NamelessThirteenth's topic in Mistborn
Personally, I think most of his works could be done in any of the three formats. (Standalone's couldn't be a tv show, but otherwise..) Take Stormlight Archive: it's got big action, and movies are great at portraying big action. It's also a massive series, which is a point towards a live action or animated show because they can do multiple seasons to handle massive stories. For Mistborn, it could be done well in that sort of format, and I think it'd be interesting to see. -
New (possible) allomantic/feruchemical/hemalurgic metals?

You're technically correct, but I wasn't counting Harmonium Alloys until the the characters can get around the whole "explosive when in contact with water" issue. -
Does Each Shard Have Only One Pependicularity?
The One Who Connects replied to Khyrindor's question in Cosmere Q&A
@Pagerunner Was there one in the Purelake? I thought the lake itself was described both as "not very deep" and that "the waters recede when Highstorms go through/are near." I might be forgetting something, but I don't remember there being a pool near the lake.- 12 replies

Cannot help but be reminded of Nazh's comment about "sacred rites" in regards to Kelsier just choosing not to pass on. -
I have to agree with Gavin-Son-Son-Odegard. Jasnah was considering assassinating Aesudan outright. She then changed it to "watch her until I say otherwise," and given that Aesudan is not dead yet, it's a safe assumption that Jasnah hasn't said otherwise. The other option is that Jasnah learned enough from Liss's spying to consider Aesudan irrelevant or harmless enough to not need a spy or an assassin. I doubt that, if only because she's a loose end who's breaking Kholinar. If she considered assassination before Aesudan had a chance to screw up, Jasnah isn't letting her off the hook now that she is screwing up.

@Jondesu: If you quote something in a quote bubble, it attributes it to the person whose post is being quoted. If he had selected the entire quote bubble instead, it would've quoted you, quoting him. Try it with this post if you want. Selecting the quote bubble with your text will show something like this in the post preview area:

Rosharans are very healthy, but they are not immune to everything. Skaa are very hardy, but they are not immune to everything. The Nobles didn't even get that hardyness to begin with. QED: they both lose. End of that discussion.

New (possible) allomantic/feruchemical/hemalurgic metals?
The One Who Connects replied to Lord Bookwyrm's topic in Mistborn
Assuming you are responding to my "counting multi-god metal alloys, about a million" bit, that takes into account every single multiple(2-16) Shard combo having a god metal and alloys with the base 16. We aren't going to have that happen, because that would require Harmony to be split, Ruin to pair and then split again with the other 14 for their god metals, etc... It's just not feasible, for story purposes and from a coming up with powers angle. He just can't create 1 million powers, let alone have them all follow physics. We still know hardly anything about the Atium and Lerasium alloys except Malatium. Actually, 2+ million powers. They all would have an Allomantic power and a Feruchemical power. Not to mention what metals steal what powers, bind points for every power, etc... If/When he makes an overall Ars Arcanum for the Cosmere or Mistborn Saga, expect maybe the 48-51 we can imagine now and not much more. (Unless Harmony picks up another Shard in the meantime and makes a useable God Metal) -
Aesudan Kholin, Theories and Speculations
The One Who Connects replied to Gavin-son-son-Odegard's topic in Stormlight Archive
And if Calderis's epiphany thread does not follow the "Liss the Herald" idea, I'll make that a separate thread to help this one get back to Aesudan's motivations alone. (Might do it anyway, as a specific Liss is Chana topic)- 108 replies

Point of Clarification: Does this discussion topic follow the idea that Liss is a normal person who learned things she shouldn't, or the former Herald idea? It'd certainly help direct the discussion and avoid confusion later. (And tell me if I need to continue the "Liss the Herald" discussion in its own thread so that Aesudan's thread can get back on topic)
