Why didn't he stick around?
The One Who Connects replied to CaptainRyan's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Aona and Skai would've had to survive for a very long time in Sel's maelstrom of a Cognitive Realm. I could easily accept any of a multitude of reasons why they aren't around: They saw it as futile (human prehistory isn't the time to figure things out and rebuild) They somehow "died" in the storm of Dor energy / They gave up trying to survive the storm of Dor energy They stuck around, but can't do anything productive because of the storm of Dor energy They accepted death together (any of the good friends/lovers theories) They might have simply run out of time. As far as I know, even a former vessel can't resist the pull of the beyond forever Ambition is a different story, but we know so little of the circumstances surrounding their death that it's pointless to debate. Although, if you are alone in space when you die, cognitive thought in that area should get extinguished until you awake as a Shadow. Perhaps that does some sort of purgatory/strangeness in the Cognitive Area... (Unlikely, but combined with the remains of their Shardic energy...) -

The one under the pits, yes. -
Pools, God Metals, and other confusion
The One Who Connects replied to Paladin Brewer's topic in Mistborn
It isn't in Secret History. Alendi describes it in The Logbook during the TFE Epigraphs, and Brandon says that the lake still existed under the Pits during the books. -
Stormlight, the Highstorms and many other things are of Adonalsium and existed before Honor showed up. He then co-opted them when he set up on Roshar and eventually Surgebinding showed up. That said, I believe Stormlight has become the gaseous form of Shardic Investiture now. The Unmade are splinters of Odium, which precludes the possibility of them being corrupted H&C Spren. Thus they are entirely of odium, allowing Nahel-Bonded individuals to feel uneasy and affected by the Thrill. An interesting question would be whether a Proto-Radiant could have a death rattle... I feel like it should still be Stormlight for the same reason that you think the physical manifestation could be similar. I think a Shard has the power to break through that interference where a mere splinter couldn't. That said, I don't think that is what Odium is doing, and i believe that Renarin is a genuine surgebinder

I did forget Lopen did that.. Maybe spiritual wounds have to be all at once as opposed to a physical wound like Lopen had? Either way, you make a valid point about the spiritweb integration.

A little theory on Heleran
The One Who Connects replied to Did Someone Say Kill Evil?'s topic in Cosmere Discussion
We have Brandon's own words, which overrule the Ars Arcanum. He felt splitting the atom would be a bit overpowered, so it only goes down to the molecular level. -
Pools, God Metals, and other confusion
The One Who Connects replied to Paladin Brewer's topic in Mistborn
Well, Ruin's Shardpool was a black reflective liquid metal, and "Ruin's Pool" and "Black Lake" have a disambiguation redirect on the wiki. Edit: (Forgot my point) It's a similar situation thing, but they aren't the same place. -
Facts - Holding Stormlight makes eyes light for a while. Being bonded to a Dead Shardblade makes your eyes gradually become lighter. Speculation based on the above Oathbringer Spoilers
-
Given the "Not from an Honorblade" WoB, I'm inclined to believe that healing a Shardblade wound requires more Stormlight than Szeth can actually hold at any one time, barring the Surge of Regrowth. (Kaladin described it as sucking away a lot of Stormlight all at once yes?)

I can link to the post I'm quoting, but they didn't include a Reddit link. (Edit: And I can't find it)

Speculation on the importance of the color Red
The One Who Connects replied to Steeldancer's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Unfortunately, no. The withering touch of a Shade will turn someone into a Shade, and those more than likely still have red eyes when enraged. -
Kredik Shaw - Hemalurgy on the land?
The One Who Connects replied to CosmereQuestioner's topic in Mistborn
Brandon has specifically specified Blood(the human/animal kind) That's probably why "Hemalurgy doesn't really work on trees" is still on the wiki page now that I think about it... What I've been saying this whole time is the the amount of Investiture is the only thing that matters. If an object has 3 units of Investiture, you need to push with at least 4 to affect it. The size of the object affects how much Investiture it can hold, but "3 units out of a potential 10" and "3 units out of a potential 100" are the same because 3 units = 3 units. If I fill a Hemalurgic Spike with 10 Units of Investiture and I fill a building with 10 Units, the resistance is still "you need at least 11 Units to affect this object." Imagine the amount of power you push with is a positive number, and the amount of power the object currently has is a negative number. I could fill a building with 100 units of Investiture, but if it only has 10, it can only resist with that 10. So for your side question, I am saying that a Metalmind filled with 10 units is harder to push on than a near empty Mind with only 1 unit because it has more power to counteract your push. The fact that the empty Mind can have 10 means nothing because it doesn't have a full 10. -
Spolier what is Szeth now Spolier
The One Who Connects replied to bdoble97's topic in Stormlight Archive
My point in bringing the WoB up was that Brandon has noted the existence of a semi-decent chunk of time where he could not draw in Stormlight at all. It's the most definitive evidence we have against him being some form of Returned. As a side note: Anyone will go lights out if they use Nightbood too much. -
Kredik Shaw - Hemalurgy on the land?
The One Who Connects replied to CosmereQuestioner's topic in Mistborn
I am fairly certain that both of those, at the very least the second of those is predicated by your own power in Allomancy. You may see the distant lines, but unless you have enough power to affect something from that far away, then those lines mean nothing. How much metal is inside the person is irrelevant, as it is uninvested and only serves as a target to push on. My point was that the Investiture of the Human Soul was greater than the Investiture within objects you can push on(like Kredik Shaw), since you can actually push on them. A large portion of the Investiture within a Human Soul can be contained with a single Hemalurgic Spike, so using a giant metal building to take less power than that seemed counterproductive. -
Why he interferes.. seems like a facet of his personality at this point. (Some people just like to be involved) Why he does what he does: Hoid's actions are his own business Where he is from: Hoid is from the planet of Yolen. Where he is going: Hoid's destination is his own business Why he is here: Hoid has access to a power that gives him an understanding of where he needs to be.

Kredik Shaw - Hemalurgy on the land?
The One Who Connects replied to CosmereQuestioner's topic in Mistborn
Doesn't actually work that way. There is no mechanical difference between pushing via Steel/Iron and pushing with your hands. A force is applied, the lighter object gives way. How Invested something is functions similarly to an electric resistor in this case. More investiture = more resistance = harder to push. The power(Steelpush) goes through the resistor before reaching the object, whether the object is a building or a Spike. A bigger object just has a higher capacity of Investiture it can hold, which means that the largest resistor a fully invested building uses is much stronger than the highest resistor a fully invested spike can use. Say a standard Hemalurgic Spike holds.. 30 ohms of Investiture. You would have to push with at least 31 ohms of force to have any effect. If you invest a building with the same investiture as a normal spike, then nothing changes, you still need 31+ to do anything. But power theft from the land as you suggest with something as massive as Kredik Shaw implies much more power within the building. Vin(natural) couldn't push on metals within a person, but she could push/pull on Kredik Shaw. This definitively shows that Kredik Shaw has less ambient Investiture stored within it than the Investiture that comprises Soul Interference. -
Eh, little of both. Your response makes it clear that I misinterpreted it the first time. Physically confirmed Noble Mistborn count is around 6. 3 for Venture, 2 for Elarial, and the one Cett uses in WoA. Following the average of 2 per Great House, that's 20 to start. Add a few random ones from various outer Houses and you've got about 30 (Which is where I saw it as reasonable.) I agree, but the Shardplate from Shallan's drawings didn't have that obvious eyeholes(at least without a face in the helm to judge) so I wouldn't say it is the next choice. The gaps between plate seem like a good place to start against full body plate armor. We know that wont work, but they don't know that yet. But I agree that the advantage won't last forever. Guess it'd end up depending on whether the Mistborn runs out of ideas before they run out of Atium.

Snapping was always essentially creating the cracks in the Soul. Harmony couldn't get rid of that, all he did was make that snap level easier to reach. There's at least two WoB saying something to this effect in another thread a while back(in the Cosmere Q&A section I believe)

Speculation on the importance of the color Red
The One Who Connects replied to Steeldancer's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The Listeners are not directly connected to any particular Shards. They predate the Shard's existence by a decent amount of time. Meaning that by your logic they would have red eyes even if Honor was directly controlling them. I like the idea for that specific reason, but I'm not sure it fits for the Shades. -
Spolier what is Szeth now Spolier
The One Who Connects replied to bdoble97's topic in Stormlight Archive
You forget that said breath restriction is precisely why Vasher went to Roshar. Stormlight is a much easier to attain substitute. That said, there was a WoB that Szeth couldn't draw in Stormlight for a while(regarding his new sword feeding on Investiture), so it doesn't seem likely that he counts as the Rosharan version of Returned -
Medallion Compounding is the subject of at least 2 debates in the Mistborn Subforum. There's nothing that says it isn't possible so far, except our opinions that Brandon wouldn't/shouldn't make something that severely overpowered.

Breaths are described as having a general "health" to them. This combined with what Spool says about them winding down after a long time gives me an idea of how it works. They will run down eventually, and the system probably drains from Breaths evenly to keep the general health stable. Since most awakenings take several breath to do, the small drain would be split among many breaths, making it seem lesser overall. You'd notice 1 breath at 95%, but 10 breaths at 99.5%? 20 at 99 and three quarters percent?

@asterion137 I can count maybe 30 Mistborn, give or take about 5, but nowhere do I see 50-60 sounding feasible. Is the original 10 count too low? Probably, but that depends on Noble politics. If we have TLR keep some Inquisitors back on Scadrial to keep the peace, then a few Nobles will keep some Allomancer presence to protect against backstabbing "partners." Coin to the eyeslit will more than likely work(I don't think the coins are all that wide) but until such point as our Mistborn make the connection that coins do little/nothing to Shardplate, all the Atium in the world won't teach them new tactics on where to aim. These are assassins who use glass knives and spraying coins. They are used to a much different aiming tactic than precision. Oh and here's a good question: Does Atium improve accuracy, or does it improve your speed of processing/using the information that you "see" via Atium shadows? The former makes Mistborn Snipers feasible, the latter does not. Without training in long distance aiming via bows/rifles, increased processing power won't create skills you don't have. Unless of course you have a counterexample of someone using Atium from long range.. Im curious why you think Scadrial has 3:1 more soldiers than Roshar. Mostly because you seem to be the only one who puts it anywhere near that high. @8bitBob Seekers could probably sense Surgebinders, but they'd have to sort through a lot more noise of other Allomancers than they are used to. Makes it just a bit less OP, but that may be enough in the early stages. Unless I misinterpreted you, you put a warrior above an assassin in a fight, but then considered Mistborn (Assassin) as equivalent to the Assassin in White, who trumps Shardbearers (Warriors) without too much trouble.

@Blackhoof I did say something to that effect with my Alexander the Great reference At least those weren't designed against other Phalanxes, so precedent exists. Fair enough on height difference translations, I had forgotten he did that. "Barely-trained peasant levies" is a wonderful term, and fits quite well with both Amaram's worthless recruits and most Skaa the Lord Ruler forcibly conscripts, since neither will have combat experience. Only the ex-soldiers and former guardsmen have any experience, and there isn't enough battle anymore for there to be large numbers of those. 4.1) I was merely clarifying a point, not pushing for usage of Stormform/Unmade. I agree that neither are likely to be good picks for the same reasons you say. Dalinar uses Chulls to pull his siege bridges, and supply caravans are very useful off the battlefield during wartime. As for Axehounds.. Can't give a solid refutation, but the Plains aren't exactly an animal friendly environment. Either way, outweighing tactical advantages was never the point. They are things that can make the fight more fair, while still being reasonable, so they should be included for completionism's sake if nothing else. Then we can discuss who has what advantage Mobbed by Mistings maybe. I kept a lot of Erunion's numbers from their big post, and that included Mistborn numbers that wouldn't equal "mobbing" someone. Radiant types we don't know any current members of would be Dustbringer, Willshaper and Stoneward, so if we did KR as of Edgedancer, they'd be out. A generic one of each would have all of them. Just so that page is clear.

Sazed mentions what Atium Feruchemy does, but he never states that he's used it right? It might just be something that is known to modern Keepers and was used for Brandon to lay down more foreshadowing.
