Mid-Range Game 67: 'Twas the Night Before SA5
Kasimir replied to Mat's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'll say this. I did not plan to be up until 7AM. But the sky is so beautiful right now it's almost worth it. Blue and pale sunfire against the clouds. And I can hear the koels calling. -

I've read the posts - I'm willing to see the purity, just also LG93 paranoia. As you say, either you're undercompensating or I'm overcompensating. I think it's fairly plausible I'm overcompensating. I'll say I feel a bit better to notice when reading that Wiz is being a bit more precise in his claims rather than making motherhood statements, which is how Stick started to notice and sus him in LG93 before he started to channel enough AG9 Cham to throw her off. -

I appreciate this, Porch Bro. But look. You know this is a long term thing I work on. But emotions like guilt aren't rational. If it comes, it comes, and then I will just have to do my best to learn to cope, or to stop having it. Or quit forum mafia. Or something. Ich schaffe das, I suppose. Enjoy! See you on the other side o7 -

My issue is I've picked up a healthier respect for his E!range after he kind of did kayana crem in LG93. That being said, I'm actually willing to sheep you on Wiz for the short-term, on the belief he can be sorted later. I think I'm unfortunately shifting to Araris between the two I guess. I don't know if this is the right call honestly. It feels like the sort of decision that's balanced on a knife's edge. If this is E!you...man, you're one scary bro, and it's happening now rather than at endgame. The forcefulness of Araris's reply to Archer is the one thing that keeps sticking in my head I guess. And I feel it makes more sense with E!Araris than V. Edited to add: At this point? Probably gun. At the time Cash voted Wiz? Can't remember the numbers. -

You really won't. There's a reason Aman once wanted to see it from me and called it my V!tell before we decided 'watch Kas self-destruct because he MLed a Villager' was not a very healthy tell to have and I've been trying to suppress it since. Can I ask where you stand on Araris v. Cash right now? I don't think my head's making very much progress. Ultimately they just both seem like candidates to me given my views on D1 EoD vote stability being likely indicative of Elim contentment, therefore little incentive to move. Edited to add: WWSV Edited to add 2: Sorry @Elandera @Ookla the Destined I kind of need to do this because no one is posting. Araris -

Similar tbh. Maybe I really just need to accept I should just stay contemporary. Stick also recommended keeping in mind if I ML a Villager that the other Villagers all decided it was a perfectly acceptable state of affairs so the guilt should be properly distributed -

[conversationally] I really hate nuttiness. I really, really, really despise nuttiness, even as I understand why it matters The problem with belonging to SE Gamma's lineage is that there is a howling seed of paranoia festering in my mind which always needs to be tamped down and surpressed, rather than fed. Occasionally, I don't do a good job and then I C1 exe Aman, or decide to vote V!Archer at lylo with Mat screaming at me to secure the correct train against a hammer In other words, I suppose I'd say the reason I take paranoia personally is it's the one nuclear button in me I absolutely don't want players to push because I'm always battling it to actually be a halfway effective Villager rather than to go Gamma on everyone. It utterly destroyed House Urbain. Hi D1 EoD Wiz. This is probably why I'm so irrationally mad about this. Edited to add: I saw it. My response is just that I feel that at three deaths a cycle, I'd like BranAman Sanderson to stick around a little more. And not just the role, as an analyst. -

I guess on further reflection: lean unlikely. Devo is one of the players who pays the most attention to these things, so I think of anyone playing, she'd be the most likely to object to a Raven Elim kill. Maybe she'll surprise me when I'm in the dead doc ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ IMO Raven violates two of her listed criteria, rather than just one. Edited to add: Still want to flip Wiz but I'm probably still tilted from the re-read and just want to figure if I should be voting Cash or Araris ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -

I remember the first one - Gears. I was GMing that and I remember Mat being bewildered by the fact that Aureole got C1ed and some of the dead players too because that wasn't supposed to happen. Edited to add: At twice the kills, I'm less optimistic, tbh. -

@Amanuensis I just find it hard to see most SE regulars going with it. I guess maybe if pragmatism really demands it - I definitely recall having occasionally violated that rule in really specific situations, but like, Ravenclaw fits that bill. Unlikely to be intercepted. Shooting the few people who are definitely never gonna be protected even if there's more targets out for team advantage just leaves a bad taste for me. Maybe I'm overestimating SE regulars? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -

I think the Araris preclusion is stronger: Raven's first game was LG98. It got restarted after N1 (LG98a) because vc errors killed E!Sart, and then Raven got N1ed by CS!Sart during LG98b. Raven's second game was QF69. This is Raven's third game. Araris GMed LG98 - N1ing Raven feels harsh here. I had considered/theorised it. Like yeah tactically killing a returning or new player would guarantee no block and no overlap. But... Is it worth it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Really? It's a community principle for a reason. Sure, I get there are extenuating circumstances, but. I kinda think Araris cares about that, enough to not do it. He certainly cared when I mentioned in MR66 that Wit was on his first game, even if I was wrong. If I were SKas, I would, just because I can't get over him ._. -

Yes. But I find it hard to buy that Raven was the Elim kill - requires a lot more collective screwup and would rule out E!Araris. -

In what way? 'Cause the thing is, I do seem to remember this kill situation happening for you before in a past game. I don't disagree. But I feel like you should be in some way readable or I'm usually more willing to V!read you and you're a solid null rn. Or maybe I'm tired and cranky. If there is, list the evidence. Here are some points I'd like you to be able to address while you're at it: How does an Aeo/Araris team decide they're cool with leaving Aeo to hang during D1 EoD where Aeo couldn't be present and Araris's vote was locked on Archer? Do you think there's a third teammate, e.g. Wiz? Do you think this fits with the overall team then? What do you think Aeo's noisiness about Ash D1 is about then? Why do you think votes were so stable during all of D1 to the last five hours and only started to pick up towards the end? Is there any sort of evidence you would accept as disproving your worldview beyond flipping both Aeo and Araris and checking if they both flip red? If there isn't, do you think your view is falsifiable? If it isn't remotely falsifiable, e.g. because you can account for anything up to a flip, do you think there's a problem there? Do you think the fluid nature of Aeo's suspicions represent a lack of commitment and opportunism or do you think they represent a certain dgaf about appearing to have appropriate progression? Here are my own answers: While I think it could be due to teamlock, I think it's unduly reckless for Aeo to leave her vote on herself and go. I think her teammates in generally would dislike this behaviour. I don't see this as being likely. I think it's an Aeo idiosyncracy. I think it's because no one Evil was being seriously endangered. I think the fact that Aman (likely Village), Neil (maybe Village), Raven (flipped Village), Devo (strong case for Village via Ravenclaw), and Wiz (sus af) were the ones changing votes late into the cycle suggests that the Elims were fine with the state of affairs. This doesn't happen when everyone thinks Aeo and Archer were tied or near-tied. In general, I'm okay with E!Araris so this isn't the issue here. I am also open to being convinced that Aeo's votes are in general opportunistic, or that she's using being chaotic as a shield to avoid close scrutiny, or that her overdefensiveness and mention of close game pressure are slips. I think the lack of care with regard to the appearance of progression appears a litle more Village to me, as compared to how constrained her suspicions were in MR66. I indicate in particular her 180 on Archer in the EoD of C1, which I think it's reasonable to postulate an Elim wouldn't be so bold about. You are welcome to convince me it's exactly what it says on the tin. This part is fair. Edited to add: I can't imagine wanting to Just let me play for hanging/chill with my bros damnit. Not. @Amanuensis - I'll add I don't really like Silber's arguments in that I feel Silber is just writing a fantasy novel or generating a world he wants to be true rather than looking for evidence for it and then using it to substantiate his voting. He's making assertions about a state of affairs he wants to be true and presumably basing it on impressions but I don't see any plausibility assessment there. But I'm not sure I disagree with the target of the vote. It feels a little like there's confbiasing going on. But dear Christ if I'm dead next cycle and can't advocate for her please y'all Devo is probably not E I will keep saying this don't murder/para Devo off the bat thanks. I want you dead too tbh. Edited to add: @Ookla the Resolute - Should be ok, I shared it with Mat over GDrive and he should be able to run it. I just need to decide if I'm cool with where my vote is before I go off for the night...well, morning at this point. Tallybot now: -

In what way? I don't like the 5-train. But if I'm exeing Araris, I owe it to him to be pretty damn sure rather than to be frustrated. I can look him/Cash one more time first. Edited to add: @Amanuensis - Tbh I think it's Wiz hopping on that does it for me, especially after Wiz kept sussing Araris earlier and now votes to defend him. -

I've spent the past half-hour coding a Python script to get votecounts, so yes I am bloody well sure I am not voting both at the same time, thank you. If I'm voting Araris, show me where and I'll fix the damn bot again! Aeo - probably Village. Araris - nfc am cool with him being exed. Edited to add: My dude, you created the tie. I have never, at any point in this cycle, voted Araris. It was 4/3, you made it 4/4. Edited to add 2: My point is that I dgaf if Araris is exed this cycle but your vote analysis here isn't even based on reality any longer. -
