What do trees/wood have to do with blood? You cannot do hemalurgy on a tree.
-
Why would metal not block vs wood? The quote I provided said obstructions. Is everything made of wood on Scadrial that every obstruction would be made of wood?
-
And metal glows from the cognitive realm.
-
Spikes have to be immersed in blood so they do not lose a charge, because flowing blood is a large part of Hemalurgy (hema being in the real world greek for blood). Could you provide the reference where blood blocks steel sight?

So, to make sure I am understanding you correctly. Amaram was always like this deep down, but the public image he had to maintain curtailed his potential worse actions. Once his true nature was revealed at the end of Words of Radiance, he went full on, because his public image now matched his internal image? Did I understand what you are saying correctly?

fused [OB] Let’s discuss. How the Fused use Voidlight
Pathfinder replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
Both above are good points to consider. Apparently a larkin could potentially destroy a shardblade, but it would be really really really hard. WoB below: Questioner If you were a Leecher, could you destroy a Shardblade? Brandon Sanderson I'm going to RAFO that for now, let's just say that it would be incredibly difficult if it were possible, and I'm not going to even say if it is. But that kind of power... Questioner Let's just say they were burning duralumin as well. Brandon Sanderson Let's just say that the Investiture in a Shardblade is much greater than your average Allomancer, but... This type of thing is not unheard of in the Cosmere. The larkin, the Leechers, and Nightblood all have a similar sort of thing going on. Destroying a Shardblade would be really hard. And Investiture resists other forms of Investiture, so. Calamity Austin signing (Feb. 25, 2016)- 67 replies

Got a WoB or a quote on that?

I would see things very much like jasnah. The shards exist and have power, but that doesn't mean they are deserving of worship. If I could theoretically attain the same level of power, then they have no greater right to rule over me than anyone else. So I would still be an atheist "You’re so sure he isn’t real,” Shallan said. “The Almighty.” “I have no more proof of him than I do of the Thaylen Passions, Nu Ralik of the Purelake, or any other religion.” “And the Heralds? You don’t think they existed?” “I don’t know,” Jasnah said. “There are many things in this world that I don’t understand. For example, there is some slight proof that both the Stormfather and the Almighty are real creatures—simply powerful spren, such as the Nightwatcher.” “Then he would be real.” “I never claimed he was not,” Jasnah said. “I merely claimed that I do not accept him as God, nor do I feel any inclination to worship him."

fused [OB] Let’s discuss. How the Fused use Voidlight
Pathfinder replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
Prior to humans the chasmfiends were apex predators. Brandon has compared what is happening to them to whaling. please read the scene we are discussing. I checked it myself. No mention of any spren manifesting. No shame spren when Rysn felt ashamed. So fear spren when they were attacked. No spren were mentioned. They were in the vault. Chiri went for her only source of light, and she had to grab Chiri to prevent her from eating the stormlight at the guards belt when they entered. Still no mention of spren. Regardless, as I mentioned, there was a fabrial there. Fabrials work because of spren. Chiri did ate the stormlight, but presumably it could be recharged, which means the spren is probably intact, so that would lend credence to spren not being on the larkin's diet. edit: to clarify, other then the fabrial we do not have any spren interactions to know how larkins function around spren. Having said that, I personally do not believe that larkin eat spren and believe the fabrial is evidence as much.- 67 replies

fused [OB] Let’s discuss. How the Fused use Voidlight
Pathfinder replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
When Chiri is done feeding from the voidbringer, she just clicks happily, so nothing there to know whether that is a happily full noise, or just a happy noise that she just ate. Glad to help. The voidbringer in question did have an on going illusion making it appear to be human. When Chiri fed on the voidbringer, the illusion failed, and the passive healing the fused was enjoying ended. So it appears a Larkin does eat active surges, at least the voidbringer version of it. Or eats the voidlight fueling the surge, thus ending it. edit: might as well post the relevant portion regarding feeding on the fused: Oathbringer page 1067 A sudden blur darted out of the darkness and flew around the thief. Chiri-Chiri moved with blinding speed, hovering about the man, drawing his attention. Rysn frantically placed the crossbow bolt, then took the captain's cord off the ruby's sack and tied one end to the stirrup at the front of the crossbow. She tied the other end to the back of her heavy wooden chair. That done, she pared a glance for Chir-Chiri, the hesitated. The larkin was feeding off the thief. A line of light streamed from him, but it was a strange dark violet light. Chiri-Chiri flew about, drawing it from the man, whose face melted away, revealing marbled skin underneath.....(added the dots because the next paragraph dealing with the fused swatting at Chiri, coupled with Rysn putting together the crossbow I felt was not pertinent and wasted space for this post) The crossbow bolt hit him right in the chin. He dropped and, blessedly, fell still. Whatever power had been healing him was gone, consumed by Chiri-Chiri. The larkin buzzed over and landed on her stomach, clicking happily. "Thank you" Rysn whispered, sweat streaming down the sides of her face. "Thank you, thank you" She hesitated "Are you...bigger?" Chiri-Chiri clicked happily.- 67 replies

fused [OB] Let’s discuss. How the Fused use Voidlight
Pathfinder replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
Chasmfiends have been shown to eat just about anything, yet they seem to be limited to the Shattered Plains. Why are they not more prevalent across Roshar? Maybe it is their life cycle. Maybe it is how often they breed. We don't know. Personally I do not think Larkins eat spren, but their prevalence or lack there of I do not believe is evidence for or against it. That is however, a good point that we have not see Chiri eating any spren around Rysn. Then again I do not recall us seeing Rysn with spren around her when we see her in Oathbringer. So that may not be entirely conclusive. Possibly. I do not think that is the case, but as I mentioned above, I do not recall any spren popping up around Rysn or the people around her when we see her on screen with Chiri. So theoretically Chiri could have either eaten them all, or scared them away. I do not think that is the case, but it is certainly plausible. The Unmade I think we would run into the same issue mentioned in another thread I think? Where a Larkin is still a living thing that could theoretically become full before it has fully devoured said Unmade. edit: of note, I am re-reading that scene in full. Rysn has a fabrial hotplate for making tea. It is drained of stormlight because Chiri ate it, but the implication to me of mentioning the lack of stormlight is that if it was recharged it would work again, which says to me the heating spren inside is still intact. Now it could be said that Chiri just wasn't hungry enough to eat that too, but in the scene Chiri was eyeing Rysn's gemstone for light hungrily even though she had just ate. So this might be evidence that Larkins do not feast upon spren within fabrials at least. edit 2: confirmed after reading full scene, no mention of spren- 67 replies

Well the reason they are not widely seen is their greatshell form was almost wiped out. Much like what is being done to chasmfiends now.- 67 replies

I think with the way a parshendi bonds with a spren, would prevent the spren from being eaten by the larkin. At least that is my interpretation of the information.- 67 replies

Although neither a "smoking gun" WoB, i feel both imply that stormlight and progression work the same way: Questioner Would [healing] something like a birth defect, would that require somebody to have Regrowth, or can they do it with just stormlight? Brandon Sanderson It depends on how they envision themselves. Words of Radiance Seattle signing (March 8, 2014) Questioner How did Kaladin heal his shardblade wound without the power of Regrowth? Brandon Sanderson That's partially a RAFO. Remember that healing in the cosmere usually has to do with how you view yourself. And as long as there is some outpouring of Investiture you are usually capable of healing. More the weird thing is not that Kaladin healed it's that Szeth couldn't. I don't think so unless we are considering the lesser spren that singers bond to as less invested. Below I found a bunch of WoB that give ideas, but nothing definite. The reason why I think not, is because of the one that says it would be extremely difficult for a nightblood, a leecher, or a larkin to destroy a shardblade Questioner If you were a Leecher, could you destroy a Shardblade? Brandon Sanderson I'm going to RAFO that for now, let's just say that it would be incredibly difficult if it were possible, and I'm not going to even say if it is. But that kind of power... Questioner Let's just say they were burning duralumin as well. Brandon Sanderson Let's just say that the Investiture in a Shardblade is much greater than your average Allomancer, but... And Investiture resists other forms of Investiture, so. Calamity Austin signing (Feb. 25, 2016) FirstRyder Could Aluminum be used to protect a Surgebinder from a larkin? Brandon Sanderson Yes. havoc_mayhem Would a larkin be able to steal Stormlight from a surgebinder wearing Shardplate? Any comments on whether Shardplate or aluminium would be more effective protection? Brandon Sanderson Getting through both would be relatively equal--with the problem being that Shardplate is powered by investiture, which the larkin could feed on. So aluminum is better in that specific case. Stormlight Three Update #5 (Nov. 19, 2016) coltonx9 Are there types of Investiture that the larkin can't consume? Brandon Sanderson Yes, I would say that there are, but it's going to depend on the state they're in. Pure Investiture, a larkin is always going to probably be able to grab, but lots of people can get pure Investiture. Kinetic Investiture they're are gonna have a good chance at being able to grab, but they can't get everything. Idaho Falls signing (Dec. 29, 2018)- 67 replies

I guess it could be read that way, but personally it sounds to me that he is speaking of personal stormlight healing compared to Renarin's regrowth healing. Well unable to heal herself as a radiant until she moves past her injury like the bridgeman squire that was able to heal his shardblade injured legs. Personally I theorize that once she decided to set sail and embrace the desire for traveling within her despite her injury, she will learn to move past it, and if she bonds a spren, or ends up needing healing for some other wound, she will end up completely healed and able to walk. Yep, because as per Brandon, Lopen never accepted that he was disabled.

On one hand I hope it is Hopper too, but the whole reason the Russians went to America was because they couldn't open it from where they were. I think the demogorgon they have is a demodog they grabbed during the events of season 2 and let it grow up. If that is the case, then the American is more likely to be Dr. Brenner. But I do not think that would close the possibility of Hopper still popping up. Who knows. Maybe Brenner knows the trick to get it to work in Russia, enabling Hopper to come out there. Though if the new fissure pops up in Russia, how are our main cast going to make it all the way over to Russia in a convincing narrative fashion? Does the government pick them up? Seems kinda a stretch to me. So I really have no clue where they will go in the new season.

I guess? I dunno, it still doesn't feel right to me, but that doesn't mean you are wrong nor that there is anything saying you are wrong. I wish you luck with your theory! Dalinar seems to think it functions the same. I pulled up the scene where Renarin was healing at the temple and found this: Oathbringer page 597 A small family left the temple above. Judging by the father's tentative steps, supported by his sons, it seemed the man had broken a leg or two in the most recent storm. The burly man gestured for his sons to step back, took a few steps on his own - and then, his eyes wide, did a short skip. Dalinar knew that feeling: the lingering effects of stormlight. "I should have seen it earlier - I should have sent for him the moment I saw those wounded. I'm a fool." Dalinar shook his head "Renarin has the ability to heal. He is new to his powers, as I am to mine, and can best heal those who were recently wounded. I wonder if it's similar to what I'm doing. Once the soul grows accustomed to the wound, it's much harder to fix" Now the scene with Rysn. She has resigned herself to being disabled. She views it as recompense for the action she took in climbing the greatshell. She sees this injury as permanent and a part of who she now is, so it remains. Oathbringer page 1061 "Have you tried that Radiant who-" "Yes, He can't heal my legs. It's been too long since my accident, which is appropriate. This is my consequence - payment for a contract I entered into willingly the moment I climbed down the side of that greatshell. "You don't have to lock yourself away, Rysn" "This is a good job. You yourself got it for me" "Because you refused to go on further trading expeditions!" "What good would I be? One must trade from a position of power, something I can never do again. Besides, an exotic goods merchant who can't walk? You know how much hiking is required."

Found a scene that supports what i was saying about the tanks. This is regarding wood and plaster but even that caused some problems "Translucent blue lines spread around him, pointing in a thousand different directions, highlighting bits of metal. The nails in a desk behind him, where a frightened man in a suit cowered. The metal wires in the walls, leading to electric lamps. Most importantly, a few lines pointed through the wall into the next room. These were faint; obstructions weakened his Allomantic sense."

fused [OB] Let’s discuss. How the Fused use Voidlight
Pathfinder replied to SzethIsBadAsHell's topic in Stormlight Archive
So I was about to say great catch and idea, but I checked the scene and I think I found a hitch in that theory. When a fused takes over a parshendi's body, the previous occupant is pushed out and dies. In the scene Chiri eats the investiture, but the fused is still up and talking enough to go after Rysn. Rysn then fires the crossbow killing it. If Chiri ate the fused then the body should have collapsed dead due to no occupant- 67 replies

Ah gotcha. That's why I asked. Didn't know if you were replying to something I said. But you are just commenting on @Quantus theory. Thanks for clarifying!

Just checking, are you replying to me?

No problem. Two examples are when Kelsier pushed a bar of metal at an enemy, and while it was flying, he pulled on one part of the bar to send it spinning. Normally an allomancer can only push on the objects center. Wax when he fought that terrisman in his youth, when they were both pushing on something, Wax noticed multiple parts to the thing they were pushing on, and was able to selectively push on part of it, resulting in it flying at the enemy and killing him while the enemy could only push on the center of the entire thing. I will try and pull up the scene to explain it better.
-
I am referring to his ability to selectively omit certain metals or parts of metallic objects from a general push. That is the result of savantism.

It is because Kabsal requested it. So I guess my question is Shallan took a "capture" of Kabsal holding up a mirror, with her face in it. She then while drawing added the details of the rest of her to make it appear that she was sitting beside him. If the "capture" in the cognitive is fully what the artwork is to end up as, then why does she alter and think on what she is doing during the process of drawing? Shouldn't the full image form in her mind with all the changes she intends to do there first, and then be drawn out? I don't think we can say yet whether or not Regrowth has a time limit. Adolin had an injured wrist for a little while, yet Renarin was able to heal him with regrowth. I think how the target views the injury comes just as much into play as with squire/radiant healing.
