  1. @Shlee Until proven otherwise, the sons of honor either originated after the assassination or were founded by Gavilar. I'm mostly saying this because of the Amaram connection. Storms, I hate that guy...
  2. My headcannon is that Helaran stayed with the skybreakers, and was sent to kill Amaram during a battle. I mean, that's a perfectly legal way for Nalan to kill Amaram, if he wanted to. It's legal to kill enemy combatants during battle, and Helaran was enlisted in the army fighting Amaram. And that's also why Nalan couldn't organize another hit on Amaram's life. His leg injury kept him out of action, so there was no subsequent battle to kill him in. And even if there was, he's a shardbearer now. That would have been too difficult of a hit for the skybreakers to pull off. And they might be in the same boat as Shallan, and falsely believe that Amaram managed to slay a shardbearer, which would make them more hesitant in pulling the same stunt again.
  3. WHO KEEPS DOWNVOTING MY STICK COMMENTS?! I DEMAND THEIR HEAD ON A STICK... NOW!!! SUCH SWEET IRONY!!! @rjl Gavilar doesn't care about honor. He just wants the heralds back to reestablish the Vorin church (and possibly take over Roshar). Step 1: Create a desolation. Step 2: ???????? Step 3: PROFIT!!!
  4. What if his weakness is the elephant toothpaste that he was making? He said that it helped him maintain control and calm down more quickly, which is something that his weakness would do. What do you guys think?
  5. Granted. You have no organs. You're a living skeleton named "Boney". I wish that Stormlight 3 would release. The waiting is killing me.
  6. David not getting powers rubs me the wrong way. An epic who faces their fears possibly becomes more awesome by eliminating their weakness, or at worst, keeps their power and weakness and isn't forced to be evil anymore. David is able to face his fear WHILE TALKING TO CALAMITY, and possibly gets nothing. That just seems... underwhelming.
  7. I can imagine Nightblood in some random city. "Hey, those are people! I'm gonna say high to the people! Oh wait, they're evil. They're gonna stab me in the back. So I'll stab them in the butt."
  8. But... Curved Swords!
  9. @ccstat I was more saying that Nalan was there to ensure that the Parshendi assassinated Gavilar, and could have indirectly helped the Parshendi acquire Szeth.
  10. I don't think that Elhokar's lack of sanity is in doubt, he's definitely off his rocker. However, we shouldn't jump to any other conclusions until we get a better description of his spren. They could be more ancient than any radiantspren.
  11. I don't get you people. The choice is clear. All of the other stormlight archive books will follow the true hero of Roshar. The Stick.
  12. @Necromancer Earlier in WoR, the ghostbloods were testing put the paralysis poison during Shallan's visit, and Mraize specifically said that they wouldn't kill Amaram. They may have struck a deal with the skybreakers to deliver him, or may have tried to gain Kaladin's sympathy. Edit: Keep in mind that the Ghostbloods kidnapping Amaram and delivering him to Nalan's skybreakers would NOT be an illegal activity. Amaram kidnapped "Taln" and already admitted to murder. For all we know, Nalan could have already have obtained a warrant for Amaram's arrest, making his speculated deal with the ghostbloods perfectly within the law. It's a citizen's arrest of a wanted criminal, not an actual kidnapping.
  13. Granted. You now know the truth. About Everything. However, YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!! I wish that hot pockets actually tasted good.
  14. My weakness? Probably driving over 75-80 miles per hour. So yeah, I could probably overcome it, John Wick style.
  15. Regalia removed Obliteration's cooldown and made Mitosis more smarter. What if she also gave Sourcefield the ability to make those electricity bubbles that she trapped Prof in? David hadn't known about that, either.
  16. @Darkness The ghostbloods didn't try to kill Amaram. It was a poison to paralyze him so that they could take him prisoner. Also, Nalan was at the feast, and could have handed Szeth's oathstone to the parshendi in order to kill Gavilar and delay the desolation.
  17. That may be part of it, but he can only go after radiants and Amarams that have broken serious laws. Or, in some cases, are in a war. I think that the reason he sent Helaran after Amaram during the battle was because it was a legal way to kill Amaram. Amaram was fighting a war and Helaran was enlisted in the other side, so it was perfectly legal. The Geneva Conventions deem killing an enemy combatant in battle to be legal, so there's no reason that it wouldn't be on Roshar, as well. Edit: Was on my phone, couldn't type out a longer response
  18. Nalan said that he used regrowth on Szeth before his soul left his body. This suggests that Kal's shardblade had not directly attacked his soul.
  19. Well, shardblades and honorblades attack the cognitive aspects of people and objects. What if dawnshards can directly attack them in the spiritual realm?
  20. Just speculation. I mean, Szeth says "I planted this sphere that Gavilar gave me in Jah Keved". Shallan's family in Jah Keved goes crazy, Brandon says that there's an odious influence there, Amaram says "I'm going to start a desolation! It's exactly what Gavilar wanted!", and so on and so forth. There aren't too many options as to what that odious influence could be, and the sphere is one of them.
  21. Well, Sanderson did say that there was an Odious influence on Shallan's family. I suspected that it was connected to the sphere.
  22. Possibly a dumb question. If an epic conquers their fears, do they still have a weakness? We never got a chance to see what would happen with Megan. I interpreted it as David IS an epic, but doesn't know it yet. It means that he's conquered his fear, and won't have nightmares. There are a bunch of "what-ifs" that haven't been answered. Personally, I think that David's powers would be almost identical to Darwin's from X-Men. He improvises all the time, and adapts to the situation around him. As such, his body will as well. Just my two cents.
  23. WHAT KID OF BANE IS THAT?!?! I mean, I can understand getting sunburn from how bright it is, or going blind, or going colorblind, or SOMETHING related to a TV, but THAT?! I mean, seriously! Anyways, Granted. Every day, it tears out your kidneys, which will then regenerate in 12 hours, only to be plucked out again.
  24. Another thing that I don't think we've considered is whether or not the sphere is unique. Meaning, can there be a second one? How hard would it be to acquire? @Schlee Chasmfiends have a symbiosis with various spren, and could "bribe" them with stormlight from its gemheart. If this is the case, then I'd say that the heart of a live chasmfiend would be glowing. Actually, that seems very similar to surgebinding. Hmmmmmm...
  25. The gemheart was glowing with stormlight when Kal and Shallan came out of the chasms. Seems invested to me.
