This is completely off-topic, but I also just realized that Freddy Krueger would be the greatest epic-killer ever.
-
Well, at least we know Prof's weakness isn't Cola. Though it would be pretty funny if it was, and that was why Tia always kept so much of it around.

Completely off topic, but I just realized that the chapter 9 epigraph would have sounded way better if it ended with "a wall of red, black, and white." Anyways, +1 for outside the box thinking. Once I get onto a desktop, that is. Don't want to accidentally downvote because of my fat fingers

Holy crap! My 76ers are actually 6-9 in the last 15 games! We're not actually the most hopeless team in the league anymore! Looks like I'm going to be a Nets fan in the inevitable epic apocalypse.

Szeth's Oathstone - Potential Spoilers
Patrick Star replied to tobar14's topic in Stormlight Archive
Um, assassinating the king is definitely illegal. Or just murder in general, for that matter. It doesn't matter what the Alethi "mindset" is. It's against the law. And Amaram and Sadeas both broke the law. And seeing as how he used Ym being an unwitting accomplice to a murder as justification to then murder him, wittingly and willingly giving Szeth's oathstone to the Parshendi or even attempting to get it into their hands would be strictly out of bounds for him. -
Ym will probably return, though. As in Spirit Ym. Dead people tend to be highly influential in the Cosmere.
-
I thought the part about him creating a weapon was so that Taravangian would be able to assassinate leaders and slowly increase his influence over Roshar. You know, sort of like what he did once he acquired Szeth.
-
I may be wrong about this, but wasn't Taravangian suspicious about an upcoming desolation before Gavilar's assassination? If so, both Szeth and Taravangian likely stumbled across the same piece of evidence.

The Unmade: Gods of both Parshendi and Shin
Patrick Star replied to A Windspren's topic in Stormlight Archive
They may not currently worship the unmade, but they definitely at least used to. Eshonai said that Gavilar wanted to bring back the Parshendi's "Old Gods", and thought that stormform would cause their "Old Gods" to focus on the Parshendi. While stuck in the chasms (during the highstorm), Kaladin and Shallan (definitely Kaladin, possibly Shallan) saw 2 unmade heading towards Narak. So the unmade are almost certainly the Parshendi's "Old Gods" (albeit probably not their "New Gods", if they have any). -
Very helpful for fighting kaijuform voidbringers.

Calling it right now, the Stormfather appears as a shardformer.

Why did Kaladin go to Hearthstone? With the new dark synchros coming out, Yu-Gi-Oh would have been a more exciting choice.

theory Gavilar's Black Sphere and its content
Patrick Star replied to manavortex's topic in Stormlight Archive
To be fair, Yelig-nar yapping at Szeth doesn't necessarily mean that they are connected. And I can think of over 9000 reasons that Yelig-nar would want to drive Szeth insane (remember how Wandersail ended?) -

theory Gavilar's Black Sphere and its content
Patrick Star replied to manavortex's topic in Stormlight Archive
Odium is definitely able to corrupt spren. That's what Sja-anat (one of the unmade) does. Going off of what we know, the only theory with really any sort of backing is that the sphere is an unmade-in-a-box. Specifically, Yelig-nar (Blightwind). And that theory has almost no evidence. The only major indications are that after the assassination, Szeth starts hearing the voices of the people he's killed (that's how Yelig-nar communicates), and that the Parshendi were worried about Gavilar returning their old gods (which are the unmade). -
Szeth's Oathstone - Potential Spoilers
Patrick Star replied to tobar14's topic in Stormlight Archive
Nale's not a good suspect in this type of assassination. He's bound by the law, and must work inside of it in order to accomplish his goals. Organizing and ordering the assassination of Alethkar's king is definitely against the law. There's no way he ordered it. -
Szeth's Oathstone - Potential Spoilers
Patrick Star replied to tobar14's topic in Stormlight Archive
It was definitely Dinkleberg. Calling it right now. Nalan was at the feast, and was watching Szeth. Like IndigoAjah said, they commented on Szeth, and Nalan almost definitely knew what Szeth was ordered to do. However, I don't believe that either Kalak (theorized to be the second herald that Indigo mentions) or Nalan would order the execution. Kalak's become cowardly, and wouldn't have the guts to come if he did order Szeth, and Nalan couldn't order the assassination of the king. Against the law. But they most likely knew about it. -
I prefer the term "Technomancer" There was a pretty sweet video game concept that was scrapped a few of years back. I forget the name. Basically, the villain was a technomancer who had taken over New York, kind of like Regalia, except even moreso. So you wouldn't actually fight any other enemies, but the city itself would be hostile. It would be pretty cool if we see that type of action once David gets into the building.

Also, there's no problem with 1 handed shardblade fencing. Alethi swordhandling has both 1 and 2 handed stances. With the shardplate enhancing your strength and the lightness of the shardblade, 1-handed wielding is viable in certain situations. And since you have the free plate-covered arm, you can use that to do stuff like grab the opponent, hit their blade away from them (10 heartbeat window), or just punch them in the face.
-
Garfield, Dalinar did it before Kaladin, and it's common enough for it to have its own terminology in Alethi swordsmanship (Vasher's rant to Kaladin). It's not unusual enough to send a shardbearer fleeing. It's not just cowardly, it's entirely unprecedented. And it happened in front of all of Alethkar's most powerful figures. There's no way his family could just pretend it didn't happen.
-
Here's the thing about Kal's luck, though. Kaladin sending Relis literally running home to his highprince is NOT explainable by luck or skill. I find it hard to believe that nobody followed up on it. A shardbearer climbing out of and running away from the battle while screaming at the top of his longs is pretty conspicuous. And with how shaken up Relis appeared, I don't think they would have kept the screams a secret. And if Kaladin's unlocking some secret about the shardblades (well, Renarin did first, but he wouldn't tell anyone), that would raise some suspicions at the very least.

1st Oath - Initiate 2nd Oath - Knight 3rd Oath - Paladin 4th Oath - Sentinel 5th Oath - Elder Confirmed: the Knights Radiant are actually the Brotherhood of Steel. I'm trying to decide whether to make a joke thread entirely about this.
-
I'm still trying to figure out how nobody realized that Kaladin was a radiant. First, the Szeth fight. Kaladin through himself out of the window, and the other characters (definitely Adolin, possibly others) noticed that his sleeve was cut off. And second, HE SENT A FULL SHARDBEARER RUNNING OUT OF THE ARENA!!!! Seriously, how did that NOT raise any red flags?
-
Huh. And here I thought that epics were people that Calamity injected with DETERMINATION. They're just angry that they can't beat Sans. Anyways, good theory, +1
-
Also, it's highly likely that he is a "good guy" (probably not a spy for Odium, or something like that). Hoid waits for his arrival in Kholinar, and calls him an old friend.
