  1. If you're the third generation, then who were the first and second?
  2. How did you hear about the 17th Shard? What's your favorite color? If you were a species of South American rodent, which would you be and why?
  3. Nighthound's death hasn't been concretely planned yet, but will most likely involve Ray giving him a painful and karmic demise. On the next game day. We'll try to keep the war going pretty quickly once it starts. Everyone on that list is light years above his pay grade. I like a wide variety of musics in a wide variety of genres, and I'm fairly sure that speaks for everyone else too. But I do have a preference for fast, upbeat songs over slower and more emotional works. Twi's a big fan of such slower music though, and Edgedancer's posted about his love of Japanese "vocaloid" songs before. Ask them for details.
  4. That's a good question. Please allow us seven more hundred-page threads to talk it over, and then we'll get back to you.
  5. Can I offer the unorthodox opinion that pizza is an ideal to strive for, rather than a list of rules? My family and I are gluten intolerant, so we make our pizza crust out of cheese and eggs. Once that's been toasted into a crisp and tasty crust-substitute, we slather it in tomato sauce, more cheese, and pepperoni and have at it.

What piece of art are you most proud of yourself for creating?
  7. * raises hand * Why is Lightwards such a brilliantly-conceived, well-developed character? Why is it that all of his posts are like drops of pressed gold written across a page, almost too beautiful for our lowly eyes to take in? * looks around * * slowly lowers hand * Fine, you got me. I guess I'm on the question-answering team.
  8. It's probably a moth. A giant man-eating moth from the nether-dimension, here to cart your soul down to Tartarus to be eternally bathed in the Great Candle. Don't listen to the creepy italic text. Nine times out of ten, weird tapping noises are just moths. The tenth time it's always a raccoon-demon.
  9. If you're the Lord Ruler of the Forums, do you ever worry about an upstart thief crew plotting to overthrow your empire?
  10. Awesome. The loss of memories and the potential for large-scale time travel were the only nits I had to pick. He sounds awesome now. How generous of you.
  11. We know you won't. The issue is, even if you have out-of-universe reasons for keeping him held back, there could be situations in which there'd be no logical reason for him to refrain using his powers to undo anything he finds inconvenient. In fact, as an Epic I could argue that his corruption would probably constantly drive him to reset things and other people constantly. The point is, we like to make sure characters are balanced in-universe as well as out-of-universe.
  12. Hmm... could we modify it so that those around him also retain memories of the other timelines? So he would reset everyone physically to their position from a minute before, but he wouldn't entirely negate the posts of other players since. Also, he should have a cooldown period for his time reversal, so he can't just keep turning back the clock and end up resetting himself to the Middle Ages.
  13. I'm kind of with Blackhoof here. While I love the idea of him, I think his implications for RPing are a bit too drastic. If he were added to a scene, every other poster would run the risk of having their posts immediately retconned. That could be a bit frustrating for the other players.
  14. I mean no offense with this statement, so please don't take any... but I honestly don't see what you'd expect to gain from a book of sacred equations. Math is the base code of the universe, but how could you express concepts like kindness, love, or salvation through numbers alone? It seems to me a mathematical religion could describe the motions of planets well enough, but would be hard-pressed to preach anything else that makes a religion worth following. I guess my point is, a love of mathematics is well and good... but isn't the unprovable idea that you can describe everything worth describing with numbers alone itself a leap of faith?
  15. Epics can definitely affect one another's bodies, so I don't think it would be too far out of canon.
  16. I can't think of a single instance of Epic powers interfering with each other in the books, aside from the obvious shenanigans that surround gifting. The closest I can think of is Fortuity, whose powers would obviously necessitate predicting the decisions of Epics. Maybe that indicates that the issues around Epic power interference are physical, not mental? Or... something? Honestly I have no idea.
  17. Most likely. Yes, I am still controlling the Panda, and even as we speak he is plotting another nefarious assault on The Dalles. There are actually some pretty cool things on that front, to be orchestrated on the next game day...
  18. Not voidspren. Cute little honorspren or funny little Crytics or whatever-Wyndle-is. Basically, every time you skip a chapter the cutest, most lovable, most innocent kind of entity you can think of dies.
  19. A far-reaching City Guard policy could still work its way down to effect people like BusDriver. And this is an individual decision, so if you vote yea you can go ahead and send the PM. I like those Epics, Tyson. Though we already have several Epics who can turn themselves incorporeal (Wraith, Fade, Vapor Snake), I don't think there are any in Corvallis.
  20. * reads posts * * feels physical pain at the idea of skipping chapters * Guys. Every time you skip a chapter of a Brandon Sanderson book, a spren dies. Is that what you want?
  21. "Attention all players! Tuesdays are now taco nights in The Dalles. Let all take note." * whispers * "What? What do you mean tacos are Frostfire's weakness?"
  22. Depending on whether or not you meant the lyrics when you sang them, you either had the best or the worst childhood ever.
  23. Wanna see a wholly new perspective on Middle-Earth's orcs and their motivations? If Peter Jackson left you disappointed, then you'll love this song from an old animated version of LotR.
  24. Message to all players with characters in The Dalles: In most RP threads, weaknesses are to be PMed both to Our Lady Empress TwiLyghtSansSparkles and the sub-GM of the specific city, usually Edgedancer or Comatose. The Dalles, largely as we were novices at game expansion at the time, has never really enforced that as a rule. This past couple of days Twi and I have been discussing whether I should become privy to Epic weaknesses in The Dalles. There are many factors I've been considering, and it seems like a good idea to me--but then, I'm a bit biased. So I thought I'd take it straight to the people and see what they think. My main reasons for wanting to see weaknesses are as such: Since I effectively control the entire Dalles City Guard, the chances of me absentmindedly creating a new setting detail that happens to set off someone's weakness are not inconceivable. If I were to be made aware of weaknesses, I could make sure I don't set any off without their players' permission. Vondra works hard at uncovering the weaknesses of the Epics in his employ. If people tell me their characters' weaknesses, we could either guide him to them or steer him down the wrong rabbit holes. Whatever makes for a better story. Going slightly mad with power. [Lucentia whine] Comatose and Edgedancer get to see weaknesses! Why can't I? [/Lucentia whine] So that's that, fellow Oregon RPers. The choice of weaknesses is pretty much up to you now, so tell me what you think.
  25. C'mon, old man. Didn't we all crack open Daleks back in the War? It'll take more than a Time Lord's party trick to frighten me. Before you know it I'll be pushing you around in a wheelchair every day singing "I Can't Decide."
