  1. Nooo!!! You can't kill Syl!!!!
  2. This might help, Lark. Olympic, Oberth, Nebula, Intrepid and Daedalus are dedicated Science vessels. Sabre is, iirc, a scout vessel. Steamrunner and Norway are, I believe, designed more for transport than front line. Miranda, Constellation, Constitution (1 and 2) and Excelsior (1 and 2) are more or less obsolete, however since they are older ships, refitting them to modern standard would leave plenty of room for expanded crew quarters, giving your characters some luxury not usually afforded Starfleet personnel. Defiant is a warship, plain and simple. Too much power output for such a small vessel. Ambassador, Galaxy, and Sovereign are all flagships (Enterprise C, D, and E, respectively). They have silly crew complements, and the Galaxy especially can carry literally thousands. Yaeger, I'm not too sure on, but I would probably put it in the same class as the Sabre. Danube is the typical Runabout from DS9, and Peregrine is the Federation fighter used, also in DS9. Edit: Apparently, the Yaeger class is a variant on the Intrepid, so another science ship.
  3. As someone who already plays in a Star Trek RP (Star Trek: Borderlands), I'd like to make a suggestion about your ship. Don't use one of the Enterprises from the movies or TV shows. Go for something a little smaller. The Sovereign class has a crew complement of 855, where Voyager has a complement of less than 200, and the Defiant even less. With larger ships, problems simply become items to throw people at until it is solved, and with 855 people on board, that is a lot of people throwing. Someone mentioned the Akira class earlier. That's not a bad choice, as it has a smaller crew complement, and has dedicated hangar bays which carry not just shuttle, but fighters too (like the ones used by the Marquis in DS9). Also, I can understand people wanting to keep Cosmere references, even if this isn't going to be a true Cosmere setting, so may I suggest a new name for your ship, one that fits with both the concept, and with the Cosmere... USS Venture.
  4. First movie was good, thought the Kurgen was a great bad guy. After that, it all became kinda pointless.
  5. I'm old enough to have watched the G1 cartoons and owned the toys. My favourites were the Dinobots, and Soundwave (especially Ravage and Razorbeak - loved seeing them in the movies). For the most part, I enjoyed the movies, although there were several facepalm moments throughout the series. Being fair though, I think they did that mostly deliberately, they had a very tongue in cheek feel.
  6. Oops. I thought it was a 48 hour cycle. Not that I particularly had anyone to vote for. To the person who said I was suspicious last cycle for poking more than one person, it was cycle one. I know very few people who vote to lynch in cycle one. However, poking to see if people are paying attention to the thread is alright. After all, that was what everyone else did too, I just got an early enough response from Dow to be able to see if Eowyn was paying attention too. Besides, even this can provide a lot of information. Admittedly, most of my time in yesterday's thread was when I was at work, so it is entirely possible I missed him, but until Dow posted saying he was here, I hadn't seen him in the thread before that. I had, however, seen a number of 'Guests' viewing the thread. Does this mean Dow is guilty of lurking as a guest? Not necessarily, but it does add a question mark to his name, and give me something to watch for in future. Simon and Garfunkel... Clever Aonar Edit: PK, BB, did you guys go for deliberately obscure and hard-to-spell names in the hope that no-one will vote for you because trying to figure out your names is just too damnation hard?
  7. Bortholemew the Blind pulled from his beard a pair of items. The first, was a beardnut, which he started to chew on as he counted heads. The second, was a dice. It had many more than 6 sides, although it was kind of difficult to tell. He rolled it on the ground, leaned over to see the result, then looked up and counted people again. Coming to rest on number 22, the midget beardomancer lifted a finger and pointed at someone. "My dice have spoken," he said. "I would like to hear more from the one called Dow. Are you one of these Diagrams?" His beard rustled. "...Diagramists? Can you prove you're not?"
  8. This is entirely possible. Remember Denth, and his claims about Awakening? He offered Vivenna lots of information that was given as 'This is the truth', yet the book expressly contradicted most of what he said. So, it wouldn't be the first time we've been given false information offered from the perspective of a character that believes it.
  9. Bortholemew the Blind sighed. It had happened again. Hairhopping to a world, only to land right in the middle of the chull dung (unique taste). Although, given how large those piles of dung seemed to be, perhaps they were chasmfiend dung. This time, some fools were trying to stop this band of refugees fleeing across the Plains towards the safety of Urithiru. Well, what more could Bortholemew do but keep his eyes and beard open. He found himself walking alongside a most unusual fellow, with an incredibly complicated name - Kazaaakplethkilik. Instinct, or maybe his beard, told Bortholemew to be careful around this one, especially if he wanted to keep hold of his spheres. There was something about the name too. It sounded vaguely familiar somehow, although the all-too human face was putting him off. Eventually though, he realised, and lifted a finger to point at Kazaaakplethkilik. "It's YOU!!!" Bortholemew declared, before adding. "You look much better as a human, than you did a space bug."
  10. Like a cremling, skittering about under a rock, a small tendril appeared. It quickly grew, puffing itself out grandly into the shape of a long, luxurious beard. With a pop, Bortholemew appeared, attached to the beard, staggering backwards. He struggled to remember what had just happened, then with a grimace, it came back to him. Ugh. Death by Shardblade. Never a good way to go. Bortholemew the Blind looked around to see where he was, quickly identifying the Shattered Plains (He had read Wok and WoR). A more in depth observation identified High Prince Thanadal's camp, and frantic activity for something. He muttered something under his breath. He didn't even really need to be audible when talking to his beardspren. This time, he was thanking his spren for remembering where they needed to visit next. They weren't quite in Urithiru, but then travelling by beard wasn't exactly the most accurate way to travel. They were lucky to be at the Shattered Plains. Bortholemew the Blind walked off, heading deeper into the camp, quickly determining when he had arrived by the frenzied activity. The camp was packing up, making ready to move to Urithiru. What a stroke of luck! Or maybe fortune, depending on what she was calling herself these days. A lot of the camp had left already, but Bortholemew the Blind was easily able to attach himself to another group preparing to depart. This time, he swore, he would make it to the city, and find his first clue to the whereabouts of the fabled Shardmarks.
  11. Shortly after the body of Bortholemew the Blind was abandoned the crows, something stirred. His beard, seemingly no longer content to drift in the nighttime breeze, started to writhe. Tendrils spread out, cocooning the tiny body. Once the corpse was wrapped, the beard seemed to eat it, slowly compacting itself back towards it's original appearance. Yet it didn't stop there, continuing to shrink in on itself, until with a small pop, and a slight fluttering of beard hair, it vanished too. On Roshar: Like a cremling, skittering about under a rock, a small tendril appeared. It quickly grew, puffing itself out grandly into the shape of a long, luxurious beard. 12. I'd be impressed if this were really the case
  13. I'm just waiting to see the line 'Kaladin kills Syl', then we'll all know the Stormfather was right.
  14. You know you're a Sanderfan when... You trail through the Vashikaran Black Magic threads, looking for "You know you're a Sanderfan when... Part 2"
  15. I believe the tension between Honourspren and Cryptics is a fairly basic thing. Look at what Rosharan Humans would call Cryptics - Liespren, and Syl has major problems when Kaladin lies. Seeing the future is considered bad, not because premonition is of Odium, but because of the theocracy, and the Vorin church's great failing. They were using false prophecies to control people, so anything that smells of prophecy or foretelling will be looked at with very skeptical eyes because of this. Pattern said something to Shallan, when she was reluctant to remember what happened to her when she was younger. He told her that she must become both the truth and the lie if she wanted to progress as a Lightweaver. She could not do that until she had faced her past, which instead, she had buried deep. I'm fairly sure that by doing this, she crippled her own growth as a Radiant until she later met Jasnah. I think this is why it seems that Shallan is just starting down the Radiant path, and why Pattern had to resurface from Shadesmar. As for the other Cryptics, they just wanted to get a look at the girl Pattern had chosen for himself. I did like an earlier comment about capturing Pattern in his inky form being the same as measuring the flamespren. I assumed it was some kind of bond thing, and hadn't made the connection between Pattern and those flamespren. Edit: Formatting.
  16. I think you mean game, set, match
