  1. To everyone complaining that Brandon isn't going to be on the east coast: Perhaps he is treating the east coast like the shattered plains. The further east you go, the harder it is to get anywhere, and get back alive. Is anyone else planning on going to FantasyCon in Nottingham? I'd quite like to meet a fellow sharder or two.
  2. So, I'm finally sorted for FantasyCon. I have (almost) all of my costume, and my first edition hardbacks of Way of Kings and Words of Radiance to be signed. My question is though, what do I ask him? I want to ask him something about Ryshadium, and I'm thinking about asking what the connection is between those Ardent's research into spren (from the interlude, one is a chef, the other is a mathematician who work out that measured spren are form locked) and Shardplate. What do you guys think of these questions? Edit: So, who else is going to FantasyCon next month? Oh, and good show Brandon, I spend quite a bit of cash forking out to get to FantasyCon, and this week he announces that he is coming to my hometown for a signing... D'oh!* *Storms!
  3. "Would you like a cup of tea?"
  4. That seems to be more of a one-off thing than anything else, although it would be good if they kept him around. Not as a main cast member, but an occasional guest when they need something odd explained.
  5. I need that for my girlfriend. Complaining is like a hobby to her (usually about work, not me, I hasten to add )
  6. Shadows of Mordor now takes place in Alethkar? I'm currently playing Shadowrun: Hong Kong, and it's proving to be rather fun.
  7. You should also speak to Brandon and Lego about selling your creations. Who wouldn't buy a Lego chasmfiend? Or a Kaladin with Syl?
  8. This. Cats are good. More cats are better. My favourite is the one without a heartbeat.
  9. If he was that much of a jerk, I'd be tempted to make little mistakes in his assignment. Spell a word wrong here, and forget some punctuation there. That kind of thing.
  10. Well, season 4 looks promising, but I have to add my voice to the people crying out "What???" regarding Diggle's Magneto costume. The Merlyn/Nyssa scene looks good though. I'm looking forward to seeing them trying to kill each other throughout the series. Of course, with the Lazarus pit, they could turn it into a South Park type affair. "OMG, you killed Nyssa. You b*stard!"
  11. I've 'donated'* most of my weekends over the summer to helping decorate my uncle's sister's house. She is about 70, and has numerous health problems. My uncle broke his spine in the 80s, and hasn't been the same since with limited mobility, so he asked if I'd be willing to help. Since then, I've spent most of my weekends at her house, and have painted several rooms, filled cracks in walls, fitted bits of skirting board, various heavy lifting tasks, and done a spot of gardening. Since I completed work on her house, my uncle has recruited me to help him in his garden. My uncle and aunt have a tiny, patio'd garden, with a garage wall on one side, and the other three surrounded by conifer trees.. My first task was to cut away the ivy growing across the garage back door which leads into the garden, so I could actually get in. Then, after clearing the patio (look uncle, paving slabs!), I have spent the past two weekends at the top of a ladder, cutting the tops off the trees. *When I say 'donate', I really mean that that branch of the family has done loads for me in the past, so when I was asked, literally the only answer I could give was 'Of course.'
  12. I've gone and booked tickets to FantasyCon in Nottingham, only to today discover that Brandon is actually coming to my hometown three days before FantasyCon starts.
  13. Absolutely brilliant. I especially love the one of Dalinar confronting the Stormfather atop Urithiru.
  14. When you get that look from random passersby when they overhear part of your conversation with your friend (also a geek). Usually the subject is whatever roleplay game we happen to be playing, but we often jump from one universe to another - RP, Star Wars, Arrow/Flash, back to RP, Star Trek, and so on.
  15. Hey guys, sorry, but I've not really been paying attention to the game. I lost too much time while ill, and I don't seem to be able to get into the swing of things. I'm going to skip the rest of this game, and sign up for the next one instead. For the record, I am a Villager Noble, and formerly a Shardbearer, until it was destroyed a cycle or so ago.
  16. Damnation. Last night I was considering removing my vote for Winter, but I didn't think it would do any harm when I forgot before going to bed. Sorry Winter. I know my reasons for voting for Winter were kinda flimsy due to the nearly non-existent catching up I've done, but I wanted to get involved since I've missed everything since the start of the game. Alvom, what were your reasons for voting for Winter?
  17. Cognizant maybe? When a Spren dies in the physical world, they are returned to the cognitive realm, more like a banishment than an actual death. This is why... WoR Spoiler This is what I believe anyways.
  18. Like I said, I've not gone through all of the posts yet, so my vote is based entirely off your posts from last turn, and this turn. Last turn you said something about Hero's contribution crusade, and how it means that there will be no eliminators in the semi-active group. That is false logic. Hero is now dead, the contribution crusade has taken quite a hit, and besides, Hero was an eliminator too. Do you not think his contribution crusade was stacked to favour the eliminators?
  19. I got Anne McCaffrey's Dragonflight. And here's how I got there...
  20. How cute? Can I have one as a pet?
  21. This is mine. It is the original promo image for Fallout 4. Slowswift, that Serenity/Firefly image is brilliant.
  22. I didn't get through everything last night, like I intended (own fault, I was distracted watching Castle and forgot). But, from the posts I did read, Shallan may be onto something with Orlok. Hero was the 'Contribution Crusader', and now he is dead, the remaining Eliminators (or some of them, at least) may start to slip towards inactivity and lurking to keep under the radar. I secret-voted last night, but my vote was for Winter. From their posts from this cycle and last, I'd have to say my biggest suspicions are for Seonid, Winter, and Lopen. Each have said things that struck me as a bit off, although that is literally all my suspicions are based on right now. They will probably change once I do finally get through the thread. I suppose I should also put out a vote, so Winter. This will likely change if I get through the thread though, or if Winter can make a suitably impressive defense of her character.
  23. "AaaAH-CHOO!" Strands of white hair went streaming out in front of Bortholemew's face, blown that way by the sneeze. Luna, his beardspren, rode the wisps until they settled back down. Living in his beard, Luna could make out all of the muttering he did, every single word of it. Surprisingly few of those words were suitable to be spoken aloud, and some of them, Luna didn't even know the meaning of, and she was considerably more intelligent than her beardomancer. Another mighty sneeze rattled windows and wafted beard hair, and the mumbling coming from beneath the beard definitely sounded disgruntled. Luna put it down to Bortholemew travelling all the way to Roshar to hunt down the next Shardmark clue, only to fall ill to the chull flu within an hour of arriving. Now, he had been bed-ridden for a week, and he had no idea what was going on at Dalinar's feasts. Curse the stupid chull which had infected him. Luna had done her best, taking notes on each day's and night's discussion for him to read, but that was going to take a while, and all the time he took reading up on what had gone before, he would miss yet more info. Bortholemew the Blind sighed, then started to read through Luna's latest notes. Hi guys, I'm back, more or less. I have no idea what is going on though, other than today you found another Eliminator. Congratulations. I'm guessing we're not sure how many more there are, although given the original starting numbers, I'd guess there are 5, maybe 6 in total, which leaves 3-4. So I have something to go on when I go back and read all those pages that came previously, would people be willing to share their current suspicions with me? Edit: Hi Lopen. I'm getting better. The bell in my head has mostly stopped ringing, which means thinking is once again possible... Thanks for asking I have nothing to add right now, but sometime this evening I'll try to get through all of the posts so far and see what I can come up with. Might take a while though, as I'm also having to find the time to catch up with the other writing/rpg collaboration thing I do. If you like writing, and you like star Trek, give me a shout and I'll tell you more.
  24. In the 17th Shard Steam users' group, I've just created a discussion about Shadowrun Returns, and the sequels/expansions (technically expansions, although they are all packaged into their own games, so sequels). This was to discuss the various user created adventures and campaigns available to download as 'extra' content for the game. My main point, however, was to ask if anyone was interested in collaborating on a UGC campaign for Shadowrun Returns (probably Dragonfall, although possibly Hong Kong). My idea is pretty simple in concept, but will be a little more time consuming in practice. Basically, a contact has upset the wrong people. While you are out on a run (the intro run to the UGC), his pub is attacked, and he is killed. In steps your fixer. He takes over the bar your contact owned, and in between working out what happened to your friend, your fixer will provide the chance to help improve the lives of the locals - taking out a gang causing trouble (or negotiating with them); retrieving stolen shipments to improve vendor stock, or arranging a new supply route. That sort of thing. Nothing too big, but lots of little events and missions which will eventually lead from you operating out of a dingy bar as a complete unknown, up to being a local hero, responsible for turning the slums into a fairly decent place to live. I'd call it "A Place To Hang My Hat". Like I said though, this is far too time consuming for me to do solo, and the concept is open enough that we should be able to slip in pretty much anything you wanted. Let me know if this is something that interests you
