    Fercuhemy Musings

According to Coppermind, feruchemical Nicrosil stores investiture. All Scadrial feruchemical metals store investiture - the person using them stores their own attributes into the metal to be tapped later. Only Nicrosil specifies 'investiture', which I would take as the ability to store non-feruchemical investiture. Whether this is the ability to store Breaths, or Stormlight, who knows. Also, I didn't specify that it would be simple. It may even be that Nicrosil feruchemy is the hack that allows people to use other types of investiture. I do think that in order to store investiture, the person will need to be able to draw in and use said investiture already, so, a Radiant feruchemist could use Nicrosil to store Stormlight, but a standard feruchemist would need a workaround. Like I said though, this is just a personal belief.

Yup. A Nicrosil ferring can store investiture, Stormlight and Breaths both being examples of investiture.
  3. I have a theory on why Vin decided not to approach Hoid. Cosmere spoilers-ish. I was planning on actually asking the questions, but my memory is awful (I'm definitely no Lightweaver, lol), so post-it notes are a good compromise. Brandon sees the questions, even if I completely forget them.

    Copper Twinborn

Yeah, I realised after I had posted. I was thinking of compounding the wrong way, how allomantic copper won't do anything for storing memories.
  5. I propose a motion that we rename Twilyght to Lift, cos she is awesome. My favourite is the Dalinar/Stormfather one.
  6. I've already sent a tweet to Brandon and Peter asking it they would mind if I recorded the Q&A sessions. If they say yes, I intend to transcribe it for the 17th Shard. The questions I'm going to ask are both about Stormlight Archives, mostly because they are the books I'll be looking to get signed. 1. Did Nazh retrieve Jasnah's belongings from the bottom of the sea by travelling to Shadesmar, picking up the relevant beads, and transporting them to a place that would be land in the physical realm? 2. Did Shardplate always use gemstones, or were they added later, like Shardblades had gems added after the Recreance to allow for bonding? 3 (Potentially. The first event I'll be going to is a Shadows of Self signing, so I may be limited to Scadrial questions. If so, I'll be asking this one). Did Wayne steal a returned horse or Ryshadium, or was he just boasting about stealing a horse that belched in perfect pitch?
  7. Entirely possible, but that was just an example. There are others in Brandon's other books where information is given and presented as 'fact', only to be revealed that it wasn't. Mistborn Spoilers. Just as a few minor examples.

    Copper Twinborn

I doubt compounding copper would do anything. Copper allomancy prevents others from detecting your own allomancy, and copper feruchemy is about storing memories. Although they use the same metals, their effects are completely different. AOL Spoiler
  9. I must admit, I was wondering the same. I was going to ask Brandon to sign my copies of WoK and WoR, so I was thinking I might just stick my questions on post it notes and put them in the front covers.
  10. Ok, I have A WoB that mentions the books all having in-world counterparts, but not the WoB I was originally looking for. Emphasis is mine. I'm sure I saw a similar answer with regards to Oathbringer too, but it's not in the accumulated WoB thread (not that I saw anyways), and google isn't being very forthcoming.
  11. I believe Brandon said that each of the Stormlight Archive books would be named after an in-world book, so not only is Oathbringer the name of Dalinar's old sword, but also the name of an actual book, probably that they will find at Urithiru. I'm not so good with the WoBs though, so if someone can find this answer, I'd be much obliged. Also, Orlion, upvote for the Iron Maiden quote. It's one of my favourites from their songs.
  12. Or, maybe he can access Shademar (not a difficult assumption to make since he is a Worldhopper). Shadesmar has land where there is sea in the physical world, so finding the beads that represent Jasnah's trunks would be somewhat easier. What would happen if he moved those beads, then reverted back out of Shadesmar?
  13. I think your first point here about the flamespren and those Ardents have something to do with how Shardplate is formed. I was going to make it myself until I saw your post. With the flamespren, their size was measured and fixed. I think there is a way of form locking them, while still giving them some freedom of movement. For your comment below the snip, we know that Shardblades didn't have gemstones at first. They were introduced later to facilitate the bond, and the swords molded themselves around the gems. If Shardplate originally fed off the KR's stormlight, then they wouldn't need gemstones, so I agree. I believe that the gemstones were added to the Plate at a later date. My final comment is to bring up something Syl said, with regards to a major Spren controlling minor Spren and forming them into shardplate. Spren can't attract Spren. Or at least, that is what Syl believes in WoR. Of course, this could just be Brandon misdirecting us. After all, there is always another secret.
  14. I had the same thing in the third year of middle school (age 12-13, not sure how it works out to the grade system you're using). I didn't bother hiding the book though, just had it lying on my desk.
  15. I was planning on going to Nottingham, booked all my tickets, hotel, etc, then found out he was coming to my home town of Newcastle too. Ah well, guess I get to see him twice.
  16. I think Missy is going to stop him from killing Davros, pointing out that the universe will basically rip itself apart trying to compensate for the altered timeline.
  17. Pretty sure there has been a WoB on this. You've read Words of Radiance, yeah? Do you know who Zahel actually is? Cosmere Spoilers
  18. I love this kind of situation in Civ. The warmonger continuously insults the size of your army, then sends a few troops to capture your cities, and in the few turns it takes for them to arrive, you've bought enough gatling guns for each of your cities, and some mechanized infantry to chase down stragglers. Watch how quickly they sue for peace. Keep denying them peace, and eventually they come and offer you everything they have.
  19. And then the Sanderfans proved you wrong...
  20. Because Dalinar said at the end of WoR that 'maybe he could stop by Kholinar to see what was happening there' or something to that effect. That's why Kholinar, and not Sadeas' capital.
  21. If the sample chapter is correct,
  22. That would pretty much get you from the north coast to the south coast in my country. Maybe not quite, but you wouldn't be far off.
  23. See, what more proof do you need?
  24. I shared my costume ideas in another thread in the Stormlight Archives thread. At first, I was going to have a friend make me up some Shardplate so I could go as Sadeas, but the time and cost for that were rather prohibitive. My next idea was going to be considerably easier, but also considerably colder, and as FantasyCon is in the UK in October, I felt walking around as a half-naked Koloss would be a bad idea. So, the costume I ultimately decided on is one I was totally not expecting, and I'm hoping that people will recognize it while I'm there... This is my costume I'm not expecting there to be many people who will realise that I'm actually in costume, but I am hoping to attract a few fans asking for Brandon's autograph.
  25. I am blind in my left eye. Unfortunately, I am also left handed, or at least, I was when I was a child. My parents forced me to do everything with my right hand, so now I suppose I'm technically right handed. I still do a lot of things with my left hand, but writing isn't one of them. One of my legs is approximately half an inch longer than the other, so when I stand up straight, one of my feet hovers just off the floor. Thanks to a chullhole of a father, I wasn't free to read what I wanted as a kid, so I didn't get into the fantasy genre until I was about 19. Now, 16 years later, I have a library of about 150 books, all fantasy or sci fi. The only jewelry I wear is a ring, in honour of my grandfather, who it belonged to. This is despite having my ears pierced 5 times. Because I embrace the phrase 'kittens like to play rough', I look like I self harm. I don't, but I don't mind picking up a few scratches while playing with Dibley.
