  1. Surges are just what they call the forces of nature. So any kind of power wielded by humans the Rosharans would likely call Surgebinding. Even if it were totally different, from a different source, used differently, etc. My guess is that it was a plot orchestrated by Odium to force humans onto Roshar to force conflict with Honor and Cultivation.
  2. Restares is the key. He seems to be the leader of the Sons of Honor. We still haven't really seen the fallout of Dalinar being excomunicated nor have we seen much of the response of the higher-ups in Vorinism to the desolation. If one were looking for Restares, a good place to look would be within the ruling council of Vorinism. (It's possible that Restares is actually one name that Ishar is using, I know the Stormfather says that Ishar is Tezim, but it's possible he's also Restares.)
  3. I don't think Voidbringer applies to humans anymore. I think it's pretty safe to assume that one must be working with Voidspren and Voidlight to be a voidbringer. So some humans (Moash) and Voidbringers, it no longer applies to all humans. We in the forums, the Rosharans, all have become distracted by this new revalation, forgetting that Odium is the true threat, the true enemy. He hates, he wishes to break free from his cage to destroy, to end all other shards in the Cosmere and cause massive destruction and pain in the process.
  4. Kal's "spider-sense" his ability to move with the wind and feel attacks and movements seems to be related to wind pressure and changes in the air. It also seems to aide his superhero falls. When he falls from a high distance, he lands with a burst of air and a cloud of dust rolls out from him
  5. Jasnah implies that the plains were shattered during the last desolation, while I believe Honor was still alive until after the false Desolation.
  6. This topic should be named Flying Ships!
  7. Their calling, their oaths, are to find the better path. They are sworn to listen to the unheard, to unite instead of divide, to protect those who cannot protect themselves, to lead instead of divide, to even protect their enemies, if it is right, to remember those who have been forgotten, to but the journey before the destination and lift before death. You don't think they'd have a problem with destroying an entire people? A people who are being controlled and taken advantage of by a vengeful god? A people who were there first and they believe they stole the land from? Why wouldn't they be terrified? The Radiants, who saw themselves as the good-guys, destroyed an entire people! Kaladin doesn't have our "modern sensibilities" he is horrified by the senseless killing in Kholinar. I believe the theme over the next seven books will be humans and Singers finding common cause, and finding a third way, a way to work together to defeat their common enemy: Odium. For the record, I don't think Melishi was bonded to the sibling as I think the sibling had already receded by the end. I am pretty sure the two orders Dalinar saw in his vision were Windrunners and Stonewards, but I mostly know that from someone shooting down my theory pre-OB that the Stonewards were the order that was still active. I think the Shattered Plains were Shattered during the previous desolation.
  8. I disagree. I think they're all from the same time period. One even talks about the Edgedancers being too busy to send anyone to record one, implying they were made in a very short time, maybe only a couple days.
  9. That's the whole point of Moash, he has stopped taking responsibility for his actions and has placed the responsibility for his actions on others. He has let Odium take responsibility from him. Society can be responsible for the actions of groups of people, but individuals always have a choice. He made the opposite choice that Dalinar and Kaladin made.
  10. I think it's safe to assume that Odium played a role in whatever it was that caused the cataclysm on Ashyn. I don't think the humans managed it all on their own.
  11. I like to think of the resonances by making the surges of the order into a sentence. Kaladin draws people to him (gravitation, gracitas) and then binds the together (adhesion). He's the ideal leader. Dalinar connects to people around him (adhesion), and can bind separate, adverse people to each other (tension), the ideal politician. Shallan brings enlightenment and lights up souls, and she transforms people through beauty, the perfect artist.
  12. I got the sense that they were all farewell messages. Most talk about either the abandonment of the tower, the war with the Parsh and the plan to bind Ba-Ado-Mishram (meaning that it is one specific war, the False Desolation), or the growing disaffection of the Radiants and the infighting within the orders.
  13. I think the last Legion, or the Listeners, we're completely unknown to anybody. I think they just ran away into obscurity until Eshonai stumbled into Dalinar. I don't think the Radiants meant to destroy to Parsh entirely and I think they just felt terrible about what they did to them. We see in Oathbringer that some of the Singers chafe at being ordered to war by the Fused and the Voidspren. I don't think it's inconceivable that a couple Singers just got sick of it, one figured out how to avoid control in dull form, and told the rest. It was probably an accident, and while in Dull form he or she realized that they weren't being controlled while in Dull form.
  14. This also makes sense with the event at Fevre Stone keep. We know from a Part 3 Epigraph that the Parsh were attacking Fevrestone Keep in the False Desolation and we know a ton of Windrunners and Stonewards gave up their shards all at once after that event. While the plan to bind BAM seems to have been developed at the time the tower is being abandoned and the recordings are being made. Most likely time-line: Honor is slowly becoming a force, less Tanavast, more Honor. False Desolation comes, BAM leads the Regals and warforms against the humans, BAM is linked to and controlling all Parsh except the Last Legion Last Legion escapes control by Unmade through Dullform Tower is failing. can no longer support life with the sibling gone and there is infighting among the Radiants, especially the Skybreakers and the Windrunners, while the Willshapers chafe at the control. Only one Bondsmith is active (Melishi). Melishi and the Truthwatchers form a plan to capture BAM, they think this will deny the Parsh the forms of power For some reason the Parsh are trying to capture Fevrestone Keep near Iri. The Radiants fight a large battle against the Parsh near Fevrestone Keep, meanwhile, Melishi and the Truthwatchers manage to bond Ba-Ado-Mishram The binding of BAM steals the souls of all Parsh linked to BAM The Radiants are horrified and many throw down their swords and break their oaths that day, the rest wither over time The mass Oathbreaking, madness, and deaths of Spren weakens Honor enough that Odium finally kills him. The war seems to be still going on while the recordings are being made, therefore the tower was being abandoned during the false desolation not after, as one talks about the Parsh attacking at Fevrestone keep and others talk about creating the plan to trap Ba-Ado-Mishram.
  15. I wonder if great shells are just regular large animals who bond with a mandra.
  16. Candidate for Skybreaker mascot spren; Star-spren.
  17. Horses are neither crustacean or lizard like, so they aren't native to Roshar. My guess is that Ryshadium are either bred and manipulated by the Radiants, or were specifically made by Honor or Cultivation to help the Radiants. All horses, even Ryshadium, don't fit on Roshar.
  18. I think he intended to breakout right there at the end of Oathbringer. He agrees to the contest of champions and then he tries to turn Dalinar. He fails. SO now the contest is set. I would guess book 5 ends with the contest and Odium loses, he sent back to Braize. Books 6-10 are the next desolation.
  19. I agree that Venli is the Traitor that is being referenced. What I meant about Moash compared to Dalinar is that Moash allows others and outside factors to take responsibility for his actions while Dalinar at the end resists Odium by taking responsibility for himself. I agree that overall Moash contrasts better to Kaladin. I just meant the major decisions Moash and Dalinar make in this book contrast each other very well.
  20. I just meant that Odium's end goal was separate from the desolation. The Desolations are means to an end for him, not the main goal. His goals don't stop at Roshar, they don't stop at Cultivation. If he broke the bonds holding him to Roshar, yes, he would probably stay to destroy Cultivation and remove the shards of Honor like he said, but then he would leave. He has bigger fish to fry. He came to Roshar, presumably to destroy Honor and/or Cultivation, but never intended to stay. He Hates. I believe Hoid is correct to fear him. All the other Shards insist he is trapped there and no threat, but Odium seems to be attempting to break free.
  21. It's not a theory of mine, more a feeling, that Ishar fits as Restares. If so, Amaram would likely not know that Ishar was also Tezim. I'm probably wrong but the plan of the Sons of Honor is so crazy that it must either be from an insane Herald, an agent of Odium, or both. I think Ishar is both insane and either knowingly or unknowingly an agent of Odium.
  22. Is Bonding to Nightblood the same as bonding a Higher spren? Why should we assume it offers surges? Yes Ishar is Tezim, but it's possible he is other people as well. His mad rantings as Tezim don't stop him from giving council and advice to Nale. I just think it might be possible that Ishar is also Restares.
  23. I thought just Honor and Cultivation. Cultivation is playing a really long game, and wants revenge on Odium and may be willing to sacrifice herself after the death of her millennia long partner or know that she will have to die to defeat Odium and plans to have Dalinar pick up her power.
  24. Is it possible Smart T has lied in the diagram to manipulate himself into taking certain actions? This seems likely. I wonder how he is hindered by not understanding the greater Cosmere and Odiums larger threat.
