  1. I can get behind most of this. A few links that may be of use to you: Quote on Squires: WoP on Squires in WoK (embedded in a thread about Squires): WoB on Lopen's arm:
  2. Although even getting a RAFO isn't a guarantee of the card... *Totally not bitter...*
  3. We know there to be 16 "normal" metals, but there are a crem-load of "extra" metals you can make with god-metal alloys. Malatium is Atium/Gold, for instance. Their properties are unknown beyond Atium alloys having "various Mental and Temporal effects".
  4. Thanks for this info, Aeromancer. Fear not, though! It's not that we're nowhere close, just really far away. Source: So "closer" implies that nicrobursts and/or time-bubblers are involved, at the very least (or Brandon is a cruel monster and he was talking about rockets or metal, but I think I'll ignore that option). --- If I had to guess ( ), I'd say that the unknown Allomantic ability is the solution to the "anchoring problem" that has always been present in time-bubble based FTL solutions.
  5. A piece of fanon meaning someone who is both a Mistborn and a Full Feruchemist, so far as I know. Though "Twinawesome" is actually the better word.
  6. OPTION 2. Heck, don't even watch previews of tonight's episode.
  7. Here is the clarification:
  8. I feel your pain, Peter. Polar bears... Do you want some more suggestions? A few people have mentioned Baccano!, and that's pretty good. Fair warning that it takes literally half its run to start making any sense whatsoever, since there's a lot of time-jumpery. The dub is also the best way to watch it, since they got the accents down. I am shocked and appalled that no one has mentioned Spice and Wolf. I've only seen the dub (it's on Hulu, I believe), but I liked it a lot. Come for the wolf-god-magic, stay for the surprisingly in-depth medieval economics. -Another fair warning: The first episode has an oddly high level of nudity, but the show gets a hold of itself afterwards and mostly refrains. EDIT: Looking at my notes (yes, I keep (very brief) notes on shows I've watched so that I can recommend them properly), I actually wrote down "Fanservice much less prevalent than it would first seem." And now it looks like I only ever watch dubs. Honestly I lean more towards subs, but both those shows were recommended as better viewing experiences on the dub. The VA for the female lead in Spice and Wolf in particular is supposed to be more character-appropriate in the dub.
  9. The length of time the Light lasts is, according to WoR, a function of gem size and the way the gem is cut.
  10. It does seen that it's mostly just a matter of "pulling" Pattern over rather than locking him. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6743-brandons-answers-in-houston-311-signing/?p=110173
  11. No one's caught it, actually. Brandon has told us that there is a Terriswoman running around somewhere in Warbreaker, but we don't know who she is. My best guess from just "gut" is that one nurse with two lines, to which Brandon replies with one of his more gleeful RAFOs.
  12. Eh. I really don't read it that way, but I suppose that's all there is to it.
  13. But in the second case there's a rather prominent question mark, followed by "This was wrong."
  14. I read the angerspren's appearance in the Eshonai interlude as a quirk of how the Parshendi can perceive "inactive" spren. So the angerspren race across the ground to get to her, but visually manifest as the creepy red pools we all know and love. I seriously doubt that the stormspren are a form of angerspren. They're explicitly Odious in nature, and notable for their newness.
  15. *Clap* *Clap*
  16. Not just speculation, as it turns out. Source:
  17. Ah, I think I see what you're getting at now, Robot. A tad more clarity would be helpful in the future. Yes, there are some hoops that our dear Hoid would have to jump through to actually Awaken, he couldn't just do it "out of the box". But I'm fairly confident that Mr. "I can use Allomancy on Roshar" would be able to figure it out, and he can definitely benefit from the Heightenings without any hoop-jumping.
  18. It does not say that. It says it's "not a very strong metal" and that the thin plates beyond the wall would melt if Shai burned "anthracite."
  19. We also have WoB that anyone can receive/use Breath. http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/2745-signing-reports/#entry90139
  20. On Dalinar (again, yes, I know): Doing a reread, we have more information on the timeline. WoR Ch 63 "this Bordin had come to the Shattered Plains in haste a few weeks ago, bearing the madman and other mysterious cargo." This chapter is during Kaladin's (and Adolin's) imprisonment and just shortly after Dalinar "recovered" from his "illness." The Taln interlude indicates that Bordin came right to Dalinar/Elhokar upon arrival, rather than loitering about for weeks, and "a few weeks" is, at the least, 2. Looking at the timeline again, there were 10 days (exactly 2 weeks) between Kaladin's imprisonment and this chapter. and 20 days between this chapter and Szeth's attack. So once again nothing definite, but I still think we lean towards the Taln interlude happening chronologically where it fell in the book. Otherwise Shallan's "a few weeks" means exactly 2 weeks, while Dalinar's means 4. EDIT: I had the numbers wrong initially, thought this was more definitive. Edited to correct myself.
  21. Thanks for the link, Argent. So Ralkalest is "the unForgeable element". That tells us it's elemental (or at the very least thought to be such) rather than an alloy that they intentionally go about creating on Sel. Score one for Team Aluminum. And Hoid arranged the chance? Does that mean he orchestrated/facilitated the assassination attempt, or just nudged the Grands towards Shai as a solution? If the former, he's a bit more cold-blooded than we've yet seen.
  22. 1081 was Stone Shaman. Side note: I, personally, would discourage people from giving Rep for the sole purpose of exploring the levels. There's no need to abuse the system or give (or take, if it comes to it) Rep you wouldn't otherwise give just so that we find out some rank levels a bit faster.
  23. I imagine that if you can come up with a plausible (key word there) past such that X would be the result, you can manage to achieve X. Whether you can permanently heal a Spiking depends on whether Feruchemical gold/Stormlight & Co. could do it, I think, but I think Forgery might just possibly be able to manage it with renewable stamps. There is an open question as to whether Forgery can mimic the magical effects of other systems (so can you give someone a ton of Breath out of nowhere?), though.
