  1. Just caught up on HxH. Good show.
  2. Some WoB that may be of interest. Source:
  3. Hmmm. I have some preexisting commitments that stop me from agreeing with you on this, but that's no reason not to ask the question. The wall "knowing" beauty is certainly more plausible in the text than the window, and that was my main concern. An answer to any of the question's components could be interesting, at the very least.
  4. Turns out that (despite my own theories on the matter), the shape of the bubble doesn't change as objects traverse its edge. Source:
  5. You might be off on your basic premise here, Outis. Suffice it to say that there is room to interpret whether the window actually knows (or cares) what "beauty" is. Myself I would say it just happens to know what a stained glass window is.
  6. Upvote for the title alone.
  7. Well we have quite a few very nice squares over here (there are a few more deeper into the thread).
  8. A good point, Argent. Added in the basic definition of Shardpool from the wiki; there isn't really an appropriate category for the Rep question... :\
  9. Aluminum was also my thought for the Shardblade guards. Here's some WoB, for funzies: Source: For instance: Aluminum apparently interacts with Feruchemy:
  10. @Binnut Yeah, that's one of those things where pesky "new information" overturns current beliefs. That signing was a grand total of 1 day after my post. ;\
  11. At 1146 and Returned, though I didn't see the transition. I'm fairly sure 1144 was still the Waffle Cook.
  12. I've never been one to put much stock in the use/development of gunpowder as a gauge of technological sophistication. Explosives in general are the kind of thing you either luck into or get as a result of very thorough understandings of chemistry: there isn't much middle ground to be had. What seems to be a general lack of mechanical sophistication is something to weigh, though, as you say. But, despite the lack of printing presses and the like, consider to the rather obscene complexity that is apparently present in Dalinar's siege bridges. Discussion of deepwater navigation and associated technologies (i.e. navigation devices) doesn't really apply here, I don't think, due to the rather unique restrictions on seamanship in general that we see on Roshar. No need for sophisticated navigational techniques when you literally die if you can't make it back to a cove at relatively short notice. Despite this, various scholars are apparently able to do some decent geo-location based ont he sun's position in the sky after their Oath-gated to Urithiru, so it seems that they at least have the mathematics of the thing down.
  13. One thing to note is that I think you might be underestimating Roshar a bit. I'd put them at Mid- to Late-Renaissance, myself.
  14. This discussion might interest you.
  15. It's probably a hard line at 777. Three 7's and all.
  16. @Aonar That's near-enough to how I myself modeled Lifeless back in the day. Option 2. Recall that creatures are drained when they become Lifeless, and that black stones can be drained. ToE are the best thing to use, as you say. Source:
  17. A fair summary, Leo. If you want to get deeper into it, Quiver, you could read this blog post. Of particular note is that it links to a site that lets you very easily test if a site is currently vulnerable—the server for 17s isn't set up properly to test one way or another, just so you know. There's also a handy table over on Mashable.
  18. Fair enough, I suppose. Thanks for clarifying on that.
  19. Well I do wish you luck at it. Fair warning: It can take quite a bit of text to try such a thing. Thread-answered, btw.
  20. Well, you did ask for me. I find this doubtful because of the "new" allomancy that FTL needs. Are you perhaps assuming that this new allomancy will be how the nitty-gritty of this all is accomplished? Speaking of the discussion on the linked-to thread, I think Brandon's answer to my own question rather strongly implies a need for time bubbles to some degree.
  21. That's fair enough, Tempus, and surely an impressive array of quotes. My main concern, though, is that at this point you probably ought to go off and write a theory arguing for all of this. Then you can go around linking back to that theory and saying "we have [link] fairly compelling reason to believe [/link] that Nightblood can form a Nahel-bond of sorts with people on Roshar..." Regardless of whether your are convinced, or even everyone is surely to be convinced, by some inference, it's always best to couch these things in terms of theory. Whenever I think of the "Shardblades are stored in the Spiritual Realm" debacle, it warns me of the snowball effect such claims can have.
  22. Not so fast, Porridge. Brandon might have made a mistake initially, but as of this moment the idea is that the feruchemical metals are split up Realmatically. So it may be that exactly how Heat ends up being Cognitive is a little twisty, but it should still be such at the end of the day.
  23. @Tempus I would be very interested to see this Nightblood quote, since I disagree with your conclusions from those two WoB's. The very important thing to remember about Seons/Skaze is that they're already bonded to specific people, so Brandon saying that that bond "works on the same fundamentals" does not automatically extend to all Splinters working in this way just because they do. Perhaps that is the case, I but I think it quite unwarranted to go around (as you have been, I must say) asserting that all Splinters can/will form Nahel bonds on Roshar (or other types of bonds elsewhere) based on just those quotes.
  24. Would you mind dropping a link for that?
  25. Which section is apparently highly non-canon, sadly.
