Hello, The Oathbringer spoiler period is over. You no longer need to tag [OB] in topic titles. Go wild with it in Cosmere Discussion and Stormlight. As usual don't have gigantic spoilers in General Brandon Discussion, and hide Stormlight spoilers in, say, Mistborn or Warbreaker forums using spoiler tags.

I know you aren't being serious, but I generally do not like the use topic tags outside of the spoiler period. I am not entirely happy with the [OB] thing, to be honest. I know Reddit tags everything, but I don't think that's necessary here.

Hello, on August 14th the spoiler period will be over and you will not need to put [OB] in topic titles ever again. The spoiler board will be removed and be merged with the Stormlight Archive forum. As always, don't post Stormlight stuff in things like Mistborn--if you want to discuss crossovers you'll want to post that in Cosmere Discussion.

This week on Shardcast, we are going to talk about a Stormlight MYSTERY! In the vision of the Recreance, Dalinar says there are more Shards there than known in the present day. That was just a subset of two orders, to say nothing of all the others. So where have all the Shardblades gone? Even the most conservative estimate would mean we are missing a lot. Well, we are here to speculate, and we go through all the possibilities, from sensible to insane. Are you smuggling a Shardblade, or are you just happy to see me? We have Eric (Chaos), Ian (WeiryWriter), David (Windrunner), and Grace (thegatorgirl). Send your Who's That Cosmere Character to [email protected]. Also, if you're interested in helping out on the Coppermind this month, check out our August Objectives here: http://www.17thshard.com/news/features/august-coppermind-objectives-r418/?do=getLastComment Lastly, if you are interested in the Call to Adventure Kickstarter, it *is* still up for a few more days: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/brotherwise/call-to-adventure-featuring-name-of-the-wind

There's nuke and there's manual deletion.

Our "nuke from orbit" spam button, sadly, removes gallery images but not albums, so I appreciate the gathering of those albums so I can kill them.

An excellent idea, and I've definitely seen this on other wikis. I don't know why this didn't occur to me to do on the Coppermind. We will definitely do this. If anyone has other ideas for quotes for relevant notices, please do post here!

Hello! I would just like to say a few things. Firstly, ManKnownAsHoid, you are acting far too defensive. A topic creator does not own a thread and I empathize with people being unclear as to the goal of this thread. There are a variety of individuals on the forum, and many who take theories very seriously, who I can see being confused by this post and where it's coming from. It is clear that you meant this to be just a discussion, but hopefully it is understandable that if people read this as a theory, then there wasn't a lot of meat to the theory. In the future I would suggest that anyone writing a topic make it clear what the goal of the topic is. Are we writing a deep theory? Are we just spitballing an idea out there? Etc. There are also other individuals who also said some rude things, and I've already spoken to everyone privately of the matters that were not okay. Ultimately this is simply a miscommunication, and everyone should be gracious and polite in the face of that. If you discover someone being impolite and rude, please use the Report post feature and we will deal with it. Never escalate situations. If anyone gets upset by a post, that is not your cue to make an angry response. Report the post, get some tea, and come back later when you're more calm and collected. Thank you, and please carry on, and everyone will be polite and respectful. EDIT: I am additionally removing the disrespectful content, and moving this to the Mistborn board, as it indeed only deals with one series.

Yes, please edit this, @Thurin.

I would never assume to mean RAFO means "yes" to be perfectly honest. That could mean anything, and he says "good question" on a huge variety of questions.

Basically Gaz's whole plotline in OB

Welcome to Shardcast - Civil War: Episode 2, Half-Shards Edition. We are continuing our discussion on fabrials and we are going straight into a spicy, perhaps infuriating discussion regarding whether half-shards use Radiant spren. Is the answer obvious? What do you think? Tell us down below! We have Eric (Chaos, who has no strong opinions), Ian (WeiryWriter, at his most pedantic), Evgeni (Argent, who tries to talk), and Matt (Comatose, who fights the good fight). Send your Who's That Cosmere Characters to [email protected].

I know it's a bit silly we are in the spoiler period still (ends August 14th), so I need to radically change your topic title, sorry.

Hello, welcome to the Shard. However, this is not an Introduce Yourself post, and I am moving it to the Oathbringer spoiler section and then added the relevant topic tag

A Cosmere Bests podcast sounds like a great idea!
-
Correct, those you can discuss there, absolutely.
-
It is important that character discussion feels welcome here. Shipping discussion absolutely is welcome here on this site. We would appreciate if this conversation is not your cup of tea to post in a variety of other topics instead. We can all get along and discuss a lot of things on this site, so if you'd like to discuss Dawnshards, go for it! Thanks!

Today on Shardcast, we are digging into fabrials. What are they? How do they work? We discuss all the types of modern fabrials. We also discuss Soulcasters and ancient fabrials and their differences. We also talk a lot about why gemstones crack when a Radiant Soulcaster uses them. We have Eric (Chaos), Ian (WeiryWriter), Evgeni (Argent), and Matt (Comatose)--who really needs to stop making tea during recording. Weird background stuff is his fault! Next week we will continue and discuss, in exhaustive detail, about half-shards. Send your Who's That Cosmere Characters to [email protected].

PM me, I've just heard the question. I am traveling but will get back to you ASAP. I don't really understand why Brandon thinks that was obvious... You guys will all hear it soon enough. Brandon knew very clearly his answer was on audio and offered up some info. Arcanists are snipping the audio right now. As a note @Scion of the Mists generally Dragonsteel Prime discussion is not allowed because it is not publicly available.

What did you not like about Hero of Ages? Rant away!

Well in that case I at least appreciate your zeal for correctness in this regard. Still, I don't think this is really important. The whole shtick is that these books are received in translation from their native language to English (or whatever other language you are reading the book in). Different languages will pronounce names differently. So I mean, I don't really think this correctness is important.
-
This would have a lot more weight if Brandon pronounced things correctly. He doesn't, so I don't see why I should have to. He doesn't pronounce Elantris as E-layn-tris, and I'm going to say it the way he does. Brandon has said the books don't have strict pronunciation, that you can pronounce them however you want. So in some sense you're not valid for saying "there is one correct way to pronounce things." If you have a beef there, you can go take it up with Brandon, and I am going to handily pass the buck there. E-lahn-tris forever, man, and I'm going to cite Brandon there directly. If he can say it that way, then so can I. Your comparison with a fictional thing vs. a real thing has an important distinction: real people actually get annoyed and will stop talking to you if you pull that, whereas fictional things have no feelings. It's fine for you to have strong feelings about that, but I don't think this is a fandom where that is important, because Brandon does not think "correct" pronunciations are important. If he did, he'd get them right. Do you say Kelsier as Kel-see-ay?

The certificate is not at all the problem, but rather compatibility with IPS and various things like that that I have not had time to sort out. I'm aware of this all and will be working on it hopefully in the next site update, but I did some testing and there was some various weirdness. So yeah, it's super easy to have a cert, but to have the software not be pissy about it is a different story.
