Gancho Libre talks to Waxillium (And anyone else who wants to contribute)
Chaos replied to Gancho Libre's topic in Mistborn
I'm moving this to Mistborn. General Discussion is not the correct location for Brandon related discussion. -
Just a bit ago, we had a big news announcement about Dark One, a project Brandon has talked about numerous times, is finally getting off the ground as a grand multimedia project which includes graphics novels, a TV show, a podcast, and prequel novels. We record Shardcasts in advance so we wanted to get you the news and our thoughts on the matter in this bonus podcast! Of course, in this one, we discuss TV without knowing much about TV, and the inevitable discussion on White Sand, too. We have a small cast of Eric (Chaos), Ian (WeiryWriter), and Ben (Overlord Jebus). Check out our previous news posts on Dark One. Initial announcement: http://www.17thshard.com/news/brandon-news/dark-one-tv-series-graphic-novel-book-series-and-podcast-r406/ More graphic novel information: http://www.17thshard.com/news/brandon-news/dark-one-graphic-novel-creative-team-cover-art-and-release-date-revealed-r407/

This week on Shardcast, we discuss Words of Brandon from last month (and early this month) from MisCon and BookCon, and oh boy there's some exciting stuff. Do we have a new Shard? Is Ingenuity a Shard? Oh, we discuss it immensely, but do feel free to put your comments below. . We also talk about cuddling seons, Gavilar's spheres, spheres in general, and, despite not actually having a question prompting it, we discuss the mists on Scadrial a lot. Oh, and lastly, we make of Jebus for not having videos. Next week we'll be back with a very exciting topic: this whole "Unity" thing. Get hyped. Today we have Eric (Chaos), Ian (WeiryWriter), David (Mr. Croakasaurus, I mean, Windrunner), Ben (Overlord Jebus), and Grace (thegatorgirl). Send your Who's That Cosmere Characters to [email protected]. Subscribe to Shardcast at: http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:102123174/sounds.rss

Realistically, I think White Sand is given via newsletter just as a bonus for people to use the newsletter. Prior to this (and us distributing Aether), they'd email it out and it was a pretty big strain, and would take a long time for people to be served. Maybe eventually we will distribute White Sand too! Who knows.

Just wondering how many of you guys are mormon
Chaos replied to Adolin Kholin's topic in General Discussion
I have moved this to General Discussion, as the Introduce Yourself forum is just for you to introduce yourself to the community. Welcome! There is also a religion topic that has some data for you: -
Hello! I am closing this topic in favor of this one:
-
Wait, what? That seems insane. That does not seem like a good app.
-
I just downloaded Podcast Addict and found Shardcast and it has all the episodes there. I don't know what to tell you there.
-
Can you please be specific as to what podcast app it is and what phone you have?
-
What player? They are all on the RSS feed: http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:102123174/sounds.rss and they are appearing iTunes for me, but I'm happy to take a look.

This week on Shardcast, we discuss the singers. Who are the singers (also called the parsh), their background, and their forms. We talk about Rlain's absence, and, of course, the constant discussion of the Everstorm. We have Eric (Chaos), Ian (WeiryWriter), Evgeni (Argent), and Grace (thegatorgirl). Send big thanks to Jebus for editing this episode. Send your Who's That Cosmere Characters to [email protected].

All right, have an upvote

Hmmm, looking at this Stormfather quote: I mean, it is explicit, and it is relevant, yes, but we also strongly agreed with this assessment the Stormfather had. There's overlap between Shards, and Odium isn't all emotions. This does not change conclusions of the podcast I don't disagree that it is relevant but it doesn't particularly change the discussion.
-
@Mason WheelerI dunno, I haven't done a reread of Oathbringer in a long time (I think most of us haven't). We can't get everything and there will always be something missed. Sorry about that. The Stormfather says a lot of things, though, and is unreliable at times. I think you're a bit overstating discussing WoBs when we researched a lot of quotes, and missed one thing. Considering a lot of the podcast was literally reading direct sources, I think that critique is quite overstated. Regarding WoBs, a lot of people don't know that information and it's important to me that as a podcast we disseminate such info. Regarding Ruin, I can see how you are twigging onto that with Argent not liking Ruin "being entropy," but I'm not sure the Words of Founding quote is relevant here. All Shards are intelligent in how they go about things. I assumed that was common knowledge that's easy forget to mention. Not directly relevant to the discussion as that discussion was a tangent anyway.

Some things are just inherent rivalries. Batman v Superman. Captain America v Iron Man. And now, we're picking up right from last week, and we are talking about super Oathbringer spoilers. It's Shardcast: Civil War, Odium v Passion. We're discussing what this force is, and we're coming to blows! One that won't simply be solved by saying that both their moms are named Martha. See below in the YouTube comments and upvote which team you are on, of course, after you listen to our wonderful analysis. Especially Eric's. That guy will totally be proven correct... This week we have Eric (Chaos), Ian (WeiryWriter), Evgeni (Argent), and Grace (thegatorgirl). And they all really like making fun of me. Here's the previous episode: http://www.17thshard.com/news/shardcast/shardcast-odium-r403/?do=getLastComment Send your Who's That Cosmere Characters to [email protected]. Art might be more useful in the gallery but I feel like if you want to share art not in the gallery this is a great place to do it. But I'm also fine with people making topics to link to gallery images too. Whatever people want.

So it looks like Brandon's store is getting a summer sale! Here there are a variety of hardcovers going on deep discounts, as well as other merchandise too! (Note, this does not apply to the new Brandon shirts on Amazon that we reported on before.) Note that ALL of these hardcovers are signed, too, and you can get them personalized, too, if you want to wait longer. Hardcovers of the Perfect State/Shadows of Silence combo are halved to a price of $10. The Alloy of Law hardcover goes from $25 to a ludicrous $10, The Legion hardcover goes down to $8, and Legion: Skin Deep goes down to $12. That's pretty crazy! Also on sale are Gathering Storm hardcovers and Towers of Midnight hardcovers, both down to $10 (from $30). The Elantris map set is half off at $10, and there is a Reckoners T-Shirt going from $25 to $15. Lastly, it seems some other apparel is on sale from $25 to $20, but it isn't listed on the summer sale page, so that might just be a usual occurrance. If you haven't gotten some of these hardcovers--especially if you want them signed--these are ridiculous deals and you should get on them!

Hey, I kept the name of the forum "General Theories" for waaaay too long before changing it so cosmere was in its name. I like it too! If you worry about the fabric of that board changing we can make some guidelines on how discussion there can go, and also we can use a "theory" prefix to help people identify theories more easily.
-
We had been thinking of making this change for a while. I feel like there have been plenty of posts in that forum that were not "theories" but spanned across series. I don't expect this to alter the fabric of that forum. Theorizers are the biggest audience on the Shard, really. We were thinking of this change for years. I would be opposed to having Cosmere Theories and a separate Cosmere Discussion area. Our forum list is too long and people already don't put things in the correct location. Increasing the number of forums creates a problem of two many choices, a friction for newer members to get involved, and I'd like to have that friction be lower. Edit: In addition, if there were two such boards, how would we enforce what is a "high-level" theory? I feel like that is a recipe for colossal disaster where there would be a group of hardcore theorizers with their space, and people who try to delve in just feel the group is very exclusive so the Discussion forum has most of the discussion and new theorizing. Some people will get upset about what gets deemed a theory and which don't. Such a split seems very unwise and difficult to enforce. The line can be subtle.

Hey guys. At MisCon, Brandon read from Skyward. We've already had the prologue through Chapter 2, but we haven't had Chapter 3, and Brandon did read it: https://wob.coppermind.net/source/audio/317/edit/ (you will need to log into Arcanum to hear the audio until it is transcribed) That audio has the prologue and chapters 1 and 2, but take a listen to chapter 3. And if any non-Arcanist is interested, help transcribe Chapter 3! It's new. Also hey, I made a Skyward board so feel free to discuss it and the previous chapters here.

WSAC - Weekly Stormlight Art Challenges
Chaos replied to Stormwatcher's topic in Sanderson Fan Works
Hey Stormwatcher. Would you mind if I put this in the new Sanderson Fan Works forum? If that's a problem do let me know. I think this is a cool idea and maybe this will give it more visibility To that end I will also put an [OB] tag on it. -
Hey everyone! You may have noticed this forum is now in the Brandon Sanderson category. We feel showing off Brandon Sanderson related works like fiction, images, music, poetry and really anything like that is very important, so we are placing this forum outside of Creator's Corner and in this category where your stuff will get much more visibility. If you are a creator, please feel free to post some of work here if you haven't already, even if it's older! I'm sure people would love to see it. Also, if you have made art, do also remember there is our Gallery module as well. Let us know if you have any suggestions to make 17th Shard more welcoming to creators. Honestly, though long ago it made sense to have Fan fiction as a subset of Creator's Corner, it really hid things so people didn't notice the cool stuff here. We think this will work a lot better.

This week on Shardcast we are talking about Odium. Oathbringer spoilers abound here, of course! We introduce Rayse and Odium, discuss how splintering works, intent vs. Intent (hey, that capitalization matters), and how did Honor trap Odium. There was so much to discuss that the podcast was originally over two hours long, so we decided to split this. Next week you'll get to hear us argue about Odium vs. Passion, which is very spicy. Today's cast is Eric (Chaos), Ian (WeiryWriter), Evgeni (Argent), and new to Shardcast is Grace (thegatorgirl). Give her a warm welcome! Send your Who's That Cosmere Characters (which will return next week) to [email protected], and you can always subscribe to Shardcast with this feed: http://feeds.soundcloud.com/users/soundcloud:users:102123174/sounds.rss
