  1. Well, I'm working on some additional pages to be added on the navigation bar. Among other things the stupid "active tab" thing was being fussy. But it was all good. Now I know how to properly code in these weird template files, which turn out to be neither PHP nor HTML, but HTML modded a bit. I would like to announce that our site's features has actually been useful to me! Seriously, our Brandon Blog mirror is so much easier to find a blog that I want. It's kind of enthralling how the site is slowly evolving to be an awesome resource. (You know, us being more than simply discussing things. I love it, but we need more. And we're getting there)
  2. I would like to announce that I wasted the whole day coding for IPB.
  3. Wow, I am now to the point where I am utterly lost in this conversation.
  4. My story is much the same as yours, sir (though mine has the anecdote about disliking that Brandon wasn't writing a sequel to Elantris, so much so that I didn't remember about Mistborn until later. Oops. I guess the end of Elantris was that good). Mistborn is not only my favorite Brandon novel, but my favorite novel of all time. It has influenced me immensely... and here we are.
  5. Happyman mentioned a while back that Odium isn't destruction like Ruin is; Odium is torture. Going off this idea, what if Odium simply torturing Parshendi so much that their mind broke into docile parshmen? I don't know if it's true, but it's interesting to think about. It explains, Shard-wise, how parshmen's wills are so weak. Humanity would have no choice to use them as servants at that point. What else would you do? Just let them all die? If this is true, Odium is indeed extremely devious, just as the letter writer said.
  6. That was because Brandon was going to Scalzi's signing in Salt Lake, so Josh decided to stalk him. Unfortunately, Josh told me that Brandon was in a hurry to go eat with them, so he had no time to answer questions. By the way, I am aware of the giant list of questions. I have my replies all ready to go, but I have yet to put them in the topic. Sorry for being slow.
  7. Wait, a trio of protagonists? Does this mean I am obligated to make a primary antagonist?
  8. I completely agree with this statement.
  9. Dang, that's too bad. I was hoping it would've worked. That does make the View New Content feature a little less useful, in my opinion.
  10. There does not seem to be a way to do that. I think what you might be able to do, though, is simply click the forum marker on the RP section. By doing that, you've marked all those posts as read, and maybe they will not appear in View New Content. Kind of a heavy-handed fix, but at least that's something. Let me know if that doesn't work.
  11. Sazed also says, however, "All he would have to do was spend the occasional bit of time aged to give himself Feruchemical storages to burn and stay young." And here I thought we were talking about something a little different with Feruchemy. You're storing some age, but simultaneously, you're burning that metalmind. That burning would give a net gain immediately. So in this potential Feruchemy-Allomancy trick, you're not really spending time aged; you immediately get that power back. Of course, we do see that the Lord Ruler spends time aged, so I don't know that you can do this. For some reason. (Or Brandon hadn't thought of it.) What happyman means is that it is through the Hemalurgic flaw in the kandra and koloss's minds which allowed the Lord Ruler to manipulate them in the first place. And his over-powerfulness is, as stated by Sazed, something all the original ten Allomancers had. I always assumed that the Lord Ruler was a brass savant, from all his Soothing. I don't think that's much of a stretch to say.
  12. Hmm. I understand what you are saying, so on that level, I agree with you. But I am not sure I would differentiate Leras and Preservation to such a degree. You read my mind. Seems the most likely explanation. As such, this theory, plus the comments in this thread adding to the ideas, officially gets the Chaos Seal of Approval (not that it matters. I'm often wrong.) Espoused.
  13. Here you go. Page 997 Hardcover. To be fair, that quote is phrased confusingly. Is he saying "You called me the Almighty and you called me the creator of mankind" or "You called me the Almighty, and I am the creator of mankind"?
  14. Yeah, pretty much, especially when there is an easy way to edit your posts.
  15. Hey, I've been awake a while. Subtlety is lost on me at this point.
  16. That makes sense. But don't worry about it. If there is data, I keep it. You haven't seen my crazy file system. I have chat logs since 2003 archived. We don't move until the data is secure. Until then, we deal with a crappy server (For example, the Mistborn RP is still hosted by Invisionfree, because I have yet to be able to grab those databases. 17S is much more straightforward, since we own those databases.)
  17. No we won't. I can say with certainty all forum data will be preserved. Otherwise, we aren't moving. Have some faith, guys. The move to IPB software went cleanly This should go smoother than that.
  18. Don't worry, it would be seamless. But I'm just imagining that some small things would break. I don't have very many specifics for you because I don't particularly want to stress over it
  19. It's really good for a site that isn't that old. We're doing quite good. Server money is dependent on Josh and Mi'chelle, and honestly, I'm scared to start moving stuff. But it is definitely on our radar.
  20. hidey-hole of Hoid's
  21. I was aware of one time for that, but it wouldn't surprise me that it happened other times. It's a combination of our server sucking and our pretty high amount of users. We regularly get 4,000 uniques a month. Last month I think we got over 600,000 hits.
  22. It was so annoying, and it lasted so long, too. I lost my reply to your Sentience topic from that.
  23. . The lions are
  24. for the amusement
  25. the mighty keteks (speaking of symmetry...)
