Wait, reports of 1GB of RAM? That's what my freaking tablet runs. I sure hope it has 2GBs worth.

Of course I'm hoping that Wii U's graphical capabilities are greater than a 360 or PS3, but I'm tempering my enthusiasm. That TOR trailer saddened me since it reused content from its last showing. Oh well. But yeah, Wii U seems exciting. I'm hoping the tablet isn't too expensive, because I'd least want two in my living room for complex multiplayer action. I sure hope we can have more than one connected. I'm thinking that while the Wii U is probably more powerful than a PS3, it won't appear like one. Since the tablets are just streaming from the console, that's a lot of processing that console has to do, especially if you can have more than one set up.

Yeah, I would have remembered something like that in the Brandonothology. This requires more direct questioning from Brandon. Obviously, atium doesn't do this. It seems to directly vaporize into power. This could explain in a very simple way why atium burns so fast. Still, it's too mind-boggling for me right now. I guess I now know what I'd do if I could kidnap Brandon for fifteen minutes...

Yeah, that makes more sense. But does Nightblood actually depend on others' Cognitive aspects? Sure, he likes being used, but that could be explained by his Intent. He wants to destroy evil, but he can't do that unless he has a person to help. That said, he does need their Breath to "live," so to speak.

I agree on the first and last note, but I've never heard of metals not actually being expended. Citation definitely needed. I'll believe it when I see it. I really like the idea behind this theory. I've never understood why Awakening must require color in order to work, and this seems like a clear explanation. It's a different way to understand how the magics operate, certainly.

Okay, I've been pretty unimpressed with the Wii lately. Nothing really had caught my eyes, and there isn't much compelling 3DS software to get me excited about. But this E3 press conference... yeah, I'm pretty dang excited. The tablet looks huge and dumb, but hearing about how it plays just gives me all sorts of ideas. I am impressed. HD Zelda... Super Smash Bros on both Wii U and 3DS... Yeah, awesome. What are your thoughts? The one thing I'm worried about is the pricing of the tablet. Chase Mii and Battle Mii (both excellent puns of names, like the Wii U itself) only use one tablet, with other players using Wiimotes. That signals to be that the Wii U system would come with a tablet with it. But what about games that use two tablets? I'm sure they would exist, and tablets aren't cheap. Other than that, though, I'm stoked.

New Warbreaker Annotation is up, and it has an interesting segment: That obviously reminds me of how Ruin was able to affect people who are more unhinged. This suggests it wasn't necessarily because of something specific to Ruin, but to the Cognitive aspect. A more unhinged Cognitive aspect would indeed be easier to affect. Using this Realmatic language, Hemalurgy created a flaw in the recipients' Cognitive aspect, which allows them to be controlled. Not just by Ruin, but by Allomancers. I guess it's not surprising that Realmatic theory--something Brandon has vaguely alluded to, but implied it's important--is, in fact, important.

Hey Thorontir! I think you may be our first member from Spain, though we do have Joe from the UK, so you aren't the first European You write pretty well, honestly. Sure, there are some small things but I was never confused by what you meant, and communication is the whole point of language, right? I would note that if/when you post in General Theories, though, it's easy to be misunderstood. I'm reminded of this Twinborn thread, which still hurts my brain to think about. So, if you happen to be misunderstood, don't worry! It happens to all of us. Interesting that Way of Kings hasn't come out there yet, but not terribly surprising, considering its huge size. There are a number of good ebook stores. Google has its Google Books, Barnes and Noble has the Nook store, and apparently Apple has iBooks, but I tend to avoid iTunes like the plague, so I wouldn't know about that last one. The Nook store is definitely EPUB, and I believe Google Books is as well. Both Google and the Nook have Way of Kings. Are you able to buy the English ebooks, or are they region locked? I'm really glad you could join us, and I look forward to seeing what you have to say! If you have any deep, theoretical cosmere questions, feel free to ask me in Instant Messenger, or Private Messages, or really whenever. The learning curve is pretty steep, and it's sometimes easy to get confused. But don't worry, if you ask me things, it's never a bother. I like blabbing about cosmere far too much than is medically advised. But then, we are on a fansite, so that's not surprising

I'm Chaos/Eric. I'm the main web administrator, which pretty much means I either freak out when there's a random error and take forever to do backend stuff for the wiki. I pretty much live on the forums. I always have a tab of this site open when I'm on the computer, and I'm on the computer a lot. The theory boards are my favorite place, and you'll see me there a ton. I'm insane. Aside from the interwebs, I live in Montana, currently studying math. (See? Insane) I'm glad you can join us! General Theories may spoil Elantris a bit, so you may as well read it. I shouldn't need to tell you how awesome it is As for Elantris sequels, they are very "loose" sequels. They're set in the same world, but a bit later in time, with different main characters. So when you read Elantris, it's a standalone. I don't know how Brandon will do the other two Elantris books (yes, there are two), but I think they will feel a lot like standalones as well. If you want quick reads, Brandon's Alcatraz series is hilarious and fantastic.

There has never been any indication that there are not continents on Scadrial. They're just dead wastelands.

I was just curious to see people's reaction to what we're doing here. Are you liking the site? ...Well, you're posting here, so you probably do, but what would you like to improve your user experience here? If you don't come by frequently, what can we do to get you here more often?

Hmmm, that's an idea. Joe, what do you think about it? I think the original rationalization was that there was more information for those specific Heralds. Of course, those articles are stubs anyways. I could go either way on this one. If we merge it into the Heralds topic, later when we get more information, we can always expand Jezrien's section to a separate article as needed.

Best XKCD in recent memory. (They are all awesome, but this one is especially so)
-
Yup. But then again, Awakening was the best evidence for this theory in the first place

Let me check. It's been far too long since my reading of it. Yup, they do indeed use the term invest. On the 1st edition hardcover, it occurs on page 378: Other instances: 397, 459. 459 is quite a good one, and relevant to this topic: So, all living things have some amount of Investiture? I guess this makes sense from a theoretical standpoint on Nalthis: if Endowment created the beings there, they couldn't help having some measure of power on there. This creation thing is starting to bug me, though. The planets physically existed before their Shardholders got there. So did the Shards simply create life? Back to invested. On page 460, "Invested" is capitalized, which could be just because when Vasher says it, it's a technical term. When Vivenna thought of it on page 378, she doesn't capitalize it because she doesn't know its significance. On page 461, I have to laugh because we know some answers here. Well, the answer to the last two are easy. Endowment, and Returned are sentient because they have a Splinter rather than normal Breath, like Lifeless. This whole conversation with Vasher and Vivenna is fascinating. Treledees speaks once about investing, and it's also not capitalized there. But, in the Ars Arcanum, Invest is specifically used. Cool beans. By the way, that free Warbreaker pdf? Great for word searching. So yes, Invest is a term that is used. Cool beans.

No, you totally said this, and it's much smarter than anything I said.
-
Yeah, I always sort of assumed that Dragonsteel is Hoid's story, and Stormlight Archive isn't about that background stuff, it's about Roshar more than cosmere.
-
I've done some tests and it appears to be working.

Maybe it's a cookie thing and we need to close out the browser after changing that setting.
-
Meh, it had a link in it, and it takes a lot of effort to click a link
-
Dang, I was so hopeful for that strategy. Thanks though.

I think I have discovered a way to do this, Spencer. You'll have to use my strategy of clicking the forum marker to mark it as read, but I think this is going to work. Go to your profile, and make sure you're in the Settings tab. In General Settings, look to the last option. It will be called Search Settings, and it says "View New Content Method". Mine was set as "Show me all content since my last visit" but the other option is "Show me all content that I have not read." So, switch it to that option. If my hunch is right, then you can mark a forum as Read. Now because you've read those posts, they shouldn't appear in the View New Content. In theory. Tell me if that actually worked for you. EDIT: I tried it, and I don't think it worked, but let me see your results.

My conception is not only that Nightblood is Invested, but all Awakened objects are Invested. I believe in the annotations (maybe) he refers to an Awakened object as "Invested" with Breath.
-
Yeah, I think you're right. That's the simplest explanation, so let's go with that. I guess I was just being silly.

Well, you know, spoilers should go in the books forums. This forum is more informational, so if someone hadn't read Way of Kings, it might be useful to keep some things in spoilers. But in book discussions? Yeah, they can have spoilers. There will be a more comprehensive policy posted on this... soon.
