  1. Hmmm. This is interesting. From a very high level view, it's plausible. You have Adonalsium which Shattered into specific intents, and then when you Splinter a Shard, those Splinters get their own intent atop of the basic Shard's power. And in fact, aside from the mists, it explains why lerasium and atium are not Splinters. So this is a plausible definition. Intents are peculiar things on Nalthis, however. When you think about it, Nightblood acts in accordance with the intent of his Commands. In fact, all the Commands feel very much based on this idea of intent. The visualization makes the intent clearer. So my only qualm with this idea is that Awakened objects essentially have a second intent--their Commands. This poses a problem for this theory, because for one thing, that means that there is still a matter of "quality" to Splinters. An Awakened rope is not really a Splinter. But by this idea, Nightblood would, for practical purposes, be a Splinter. I haven't heard that Nightblood is explicitly a Splinter, though. I'm rambling, so I'm going to stop now. Don't think that I don't like this theory, however. This is freaking awesome. (By the way, I am now making "intent" lowercase, because the one time Brandon references intent in the Hero of Ages annotations, it was lowercase. Oops. I probably need to edit the Principle of Intent to follow that. I do prefer it capitalized, but unfortunately, that may not mean it is right...)
  2. Mind blown twice today in the theory forums. This excites me, holy crap.

      aye to that sentiment

  3. Oh wow, that's interesting. I don't know if it's 100% accurate, since people can Snap from extreme joy. However, that's much rarer, and the rarity could be explained from a Principle of Intent background. They are "Preserving" their life, so it's the easiest way to Snap.
  4. This is great. I love this logic. I would add that the divine Breath of the Returned not only are powering the Returned's Physical aspect, but unlike Lifeless (for the most part), that Breath is also is charging their Cognitive power, too. That's probably a large reason why Returned need new Breath, and on such regular intervals. Regardless of what a person is physically doing, their mind is always active, compared to a Lifeless. Is the next post explaining why Nightblood needs Breath?
  5. Awesome! Did you use fractal brushes to do it?
  6. This may help you with that. At that point, I think the hardest thing to do would be to make sure that the wiki syntax generated the right headers. So, that may help, but there'd still be work to do, especially with making other wiki-links. EDIT: I think Joe is working hard to make it look pretty.

I got a "Temporarily exceeded capacity" thing for a while, too. Just keep trying and it will work eventually. Obviously they are just trying to curb its growth. You are invited if you have gotten an email from Google+.

I did some Googling and determined that yes, there is unfortunately an age restriction for the beta at the moment. http://www.google.ru/support/forum/p/gmail/thread?tid=05c38338cd852b46&hl=en So for now, yes. But you will be able to later.
  9. I saw Transformers 3, and had loads of fun. Any stupidity of the script seemed rather inconsequential to the primary conflicts, so I had a blast. For this film, I'd say see it in 3D. You're seeing a Michael Bay movie, so you may as well get the best of the visuals. It really is the best 3D in a film since Avatar. There's also a Wrath of Khan reference, and it was great.

The method I made before was actually the hack-around.

I've heard that my other invites haven't worked. Did Google disable this ability? (Also, check out the new +1 buttons)

I've sent you an another one. Tell me if you got it or not.
  13. Howard said in the comments that they'd probably only do guest episodes when one of them is gone. That's my single issue with Mary: Dan seems to be talking a lot less. But she's been a great insight, that's for sure.

Oh. Ha. I should probably tell you to do that. Google disabled the overall invite feature, so it's kind of a hack. Make a post in your Stream, disable sending it to your Circles, and then add a particular email address. Then they should get an email about it and be able to join. I sent one to you, Fell. Spencer and SOM1else, I don't see a Gmail account listed on your profile, but I sent the invite to you anyways. You'll probably be prompted to join that, if you haven't already.
  15. Oh. Yeah, you may be right. I'll check later tonight when I'm more conscious. There isn't a quota. We're trying to make the biggest and most comprehensive list of questions for people to draw upon, so post them all! Worst that happens is I reject some.
  16. I really need to get faster at updating this. Really, really badly. But luckily for you, I'm on a graveyard and I needed some work to do. So let's get started! It’s been said that Mistborn couldn’t Push on Shardblades since they are Invested objects. So naturally it’s been assumed that Szeth can Lash on Shardplate for a similar reason. As such, I’m not going to put this on the list, but I could if you still want. It was always my impression that the amount of metal mattered. After all, Sazed’s rings could only hold so much charge. I see no reason why this idea wouldn’t scale up. But I’m still going to ask this question, because we don’t know the extent of “strength” in Feruchemy, you know? Stronger Allomancers flare higher, but what about Feruchemists? Great question. Okay, now that I understand what you’re saying, these are great questions. Zas, I liked your description about Hoid picking up magics, and for the most part I agree. Now I’m just wondering what Brandon would say to question #2 here. In the Ancient Q&A topic, it was said: So I consider this case closed. The answer was paraphrased from Brandon, but Josh and Mi’ch did read my questions explicitly. My phrasing rules out any other possibility. In the Cosmere 101 topic, I said that I believe Rayse is Odium. I think the applicable quote was that in Kaladin’s vision, it was said that Odium is the most dangerous of the sixteen. The letter says that Rayse holds the most dangerous Shard. Thus, Rayse must hold Odium. I think that’s a pretty safe assumption. But, it goes on the list, because I think this can be a good question to explicitly ask, so there’s no additional debate. Unless any of you can find an explicit time Brandon said this, it’s going up. Corrected spelling and capitalization (lerasium is not capitalized) but this is an amazing question. This question is a subset of a long question we have on Shard genders, so I’m omitting this one. So, in review, these are the questions that I’ve compiled here: I am also going to add some of mine because I can’t resist. I’d add more, but my brain is tired. I’m avoiding Alloy of Law questions, because who knows what the rest of the book will reveal? So I’ve added those questions, and I’ve inputted answers in for other questions. I’m going to try and do a format where we, you know, actually link to where the answer happened, rather than just making stuff up. I think working on the wiki, and thinking about how to cite sources properly, has rubbed off on me. Also, I really need to create subcategories. These topics are getting rather beefy.

    Hi

Good to have you here, eri! It really pleases me how the European population here is increasing. Your English is very good! Great job. I'm Eric. I'm on this site way too much, as you can no doubt tell. Fun fact: I'm actually half Polish! Well, you came to the right place for that! We're actually going to be putting as many interviews as we can on the Coppermind. Hopefully we'll get the most obscure of the obscure. You're the first person to call them hypotheses, too, which makes you better at English than all of us here. You'd think with a lot of people with science backgrounds, we would insist on not calling them theories, but you'd be wrong. Welcome, welcome!
  18. I like your N7 personal photo. Well... you know me. I'm that guy. The one who does stuff. Yeah. So, about where do you live? Other than the internet, of course.

Absolutely. I sent it to the Google account that you registered with, but if you want me to send it to a different one, I can do that.

I'm really enjoying G+ so far. Chilling with the 17S peeps have really helped. If anyone else has a Google account, I highly encourage you to join. Or, at least, ask us for an invite.

I've sent them. You just have to be clever. Did you both get them? Also, Zas, I'm switching to a new Gmail account. I've already given the new ones the edit rights on the Brandonothology, but now you know.
  22. So, who wants some Google+ invites? You might be anti-Facebook. Anti-social networking in general. And sure, I can see that. I resisted joining Facebook for a long time, and I only joined out of peer pressure. You know what? There's something better, and it is Google+. It's like Facebook, only not idiotic and actually useful. There are two core features. The first are "Circles." Instead of Facebook where your friends list is a giant jumbled mess, you can select people to go to different social circles. So, I can add you, fair member, to my 17th Shard circle, separate from my College circle. Then, I can make posts, but direct them to which circle I want. I can keep 17S posts separate from everyone else, if I want. The second major feature are Sparks. Basically, you can create a Spark for a given interest you have. Say, "Mistborn," and get news items related to that. So not only can you obsessively check on your friends, but it's also a source of non-friend related news. It's much cleaner than Facebook, with a better color scheme, and is simply better. Oh, and there's free group video chatting for up to ten people. 17S staff members, take notes, because I'm inviting you to this whether you like it or not Given that Kerry has said "Holy crap" several times as she's walked through it, I'd say it's a success.
  23. Today we have some thrilling news for all of you: Team Sanderson likes the Mistborn video game proposal. Brandon really likes it. In fact, as long as the contracts work, it looks like things are a go. Huzzah! He said earlier today: At this point, I don't even care what type of game it is: there will be a Mistborn video game!

  25. That's pretty much my thinking with aluminum. Takes away metals, therefore inert. Makes an intuitive sense to me. However, Realmatically... I agree, Sazed would be the one person who would actually forbid his followers from worshipping him.
