Upcoming Login Change: Login with Display Name will Be Disabled

EDIT: This change is now in effect.

Quick but important announcement - as a security measure, starting with January 2, 2025, the forums / website will no longer allow people to log in using their username, only email. Once this change goes live, you will also receive an automated email whenever you haven't logged in for a few months, and someone (hopefully you) successfully logs into your account.

If you've been logging in using your username, and are not sure which email you used for this account, you can check your account settingsWe recommend everyone switch to logging in with email before the January 2 deadline.

Thanks for the update and forewarning.
Does this indicate you will also be moving toward 2FA? If yes, can you verify if email will be an option for 2FA?

@Treamayne 2FA has been available for quite a while and can be configured in your Account Security settings. Our software only supports TOTP (Google Authenticator etc.), sending codes via email is not an option.

Yes, that's the problem. I'm sorry I was unclear - I meant will it become mandatory - and if it does will you add email codes (I do not have a cell phone or any way to use any authenticator app - so if more options are not available, I am effectively removed from the site).

I believe there are desktop versions of some of the authenticator apps, such as this Chrome extension.

I hope that helps!

MFA will not become mandatory, no. The only change is in which login credentials you will (or, rather, won't) be able to use.

Will this also be affecting Coppermind and Arcanum?

It will not.
