State of the Sanderson for 2023 is out, and so let's do a Shardcast stream discussing it! Featuring a lot of complaining about White Sand. We'll be doing this at a later timeslot than our usual streams, at 3pm Pacific / 6pm Eastern!

Hopefully I'll be able to tune in!

I love how Brandon's like "we're going to be slowing down...but also expect about six books in the next two years." We'll be quite happy and fed before he goes into hibernation! I also really hope that Sanderson can find the time to work on Apocalypse Guard also. Or at least let me read a Beta/Gamma version so I can finally see it!

1. Dragonsteel Prime in Spring 2024 with the WoR Kickstarter

2. Wind and Truth (December 6, 2024)

3. Songs of the Dead (Any time between October 2024 and October 2025 IMO)

4. Skyward Legacy 1 (Spring 2025?)

5. Dark One Novelization (Summer/Fall 2025 probably)

6. White Sand Novelization (December 2025 probably - White Sand seems too important to Brandon to not have Dragonsteel-Con be centered around it.)

Child of Hodor

Posted (edited)

Wind and Truth is better than Knights of Wind and Truth.  Barely.

Diceborn is a good name. Gets the idea across pretty clearly at least to me.

I really appreciate all the work everyone does!! Happy Holidays!!

Honestly? I welcome the "slowing down," I still have several volumes to catch up on! It's a journey not a destination, and the truthwatchers know better than any order that the work never truly ends and the importance of enjoying the lulls. Happy holidays sharders, y'all deserve it more than anybody.

The big question I have is, have the Dark One graphic novels been dropped, or are they still in progress.

I'm disappointed in you! None of you suggested that Hoid should read Discworld! Shame on you, I would've thought better of you awesome people!

lol

But on a more serious note, I'm both looking forward to and dreading the wait time from Wind and Truth and the Ghostblood novels. Four years of little to nothing... That's going to be dreadful pain. And to think it'll be even longer until SA is done and we're getting Dragonsteel. Even longer until we get MB era four. Or, maybe by then it'll be era five. Who knows. Years and years and years into the future of Cosmere. I really do wonder what being a cosmere fan after it's all done will be like. How will people joining it consider the series? What sort of reading order will we have by then? Will we have places like the Shard then?

Wow, I went from talking about the wait time to talking about how the Shard will look in the distant future.

It's going to be strange without a big new Brandon novel every year...

Since Wind and Truth doesn't follow the ketek pattern anymore, I'm almost hoping for Brandon to just break it completely. If I'm being honest, I just want Stones Unhallowed to be used.

Ultimately, I agree with hwiles – it's a journey, not a destination. We're on this Cosmere adventure together, and the shared anticipation, theorizing, and excitement make it all the more special. Happy holidays, fellow Sharders!
