I can't find where it says directly but I've found many places that suggest that Odium did not want to invest himself into a planet. Reasaons being that it would tie him down to a system and not allow him to seek out the other shards. According to the Eile Stele (the dawnchant) it says that Odium was brought by the humans to Roshar. Syl also confirms the fact that Odium was the god of the humans before coming to Roshar.

Quote

"Odium is the void, Kaladin. He draws in emotion, and doesn't let it go. You ... you brought him with you. I wasn't alive then, but I know this truth. He was your first god, before you turned to Honor."*

What seems to be a bit of a contradiction to me is the fact that Odium would invest himself into a system to create humans instead of attacking what was already created on Roshar. Could humans have been created by someone else, or had different gods before Odium? Or would Odium create the humans on Ashyn as an opportunity to get to Roshar?

It's my crackpot theory (which I'm happy to have broken down by anyone) that the humans there were created and placed on Ashyn by Adonalsium. It is stated that the Rosharian system was created before the Shattering and my belief is that he was their first god. Maybe you already knew this, or maybe it's not true, but in my attempt to flush out my understanding of the Cosmere it seemed plausible.

I agree with you in this regard. Rayse does not seem to want to waste his power to create something, since his only purpose is to basically destroy and rule. The Rosharan System could very well be created by Adonalsium, and humans could live there during his Era (Pre Shattering), or maybe they moved there through Shadesmar from Yolen, though how they did this is not something I can think of, since the Perpendicularities appeared after the Shattering.

The Rosharan system is pre-Shattering, created directly by Adonalsium (though parts may have been altered or added by the Shards). Odium arrived on Ashyn later on, after Honor and Cultivation's arrival on Roshar (he was busy ganking other Shards) and was instrumental in its cataclysm.

Odium definitely didn't create the humans on Ashyn. My pet theory is they originate from Threnody and went to Ashyn to flee from the Evil.

Mine is that Odium brought some humans with him from Sel and planted them on Ashyn.

Why Sel though? He was still hunting Ambition when he left Sel

Ashyn as a planet was created by Adonalsium:

Overlord Jebus

Was just the continent of Roshar created by Adonalsium or was the whole system created?

Brandon Sanderson

Whole system was created.

Of course, mankind on it can still originate elsewhere, but we haven't seen the ethnicities of some of the Heralds (specifically the Alethi looking Jezrien) elsewhere in the Cosmere.

I don't know if that timeline would work out. Shadows for Silence takes place between Warbreaker and Stormlight, and people fleeing to the Forests of Hell to escape the Homeland was within her grandparents' lifetimes. While the Evil might've been around a little while before it forced a full evacuation, I'm not sure if I think it would've forced people to flee to an entire other world eight thousand years before it forced people to another continent.

Wait, doesn't that means the Evil happened millennia after Ambition's death?

Yep! Or at the very least it didn't grow to be enough of a problem to require fleeing for a long while after, whatever it actually is. (It's really hard to say much with how little we know )

I don't honestly think Odium was ever the god of mankind. At least not more so than a cult status considering it was said he had to trick people into using the Surges and Dawnshard to destroy Ashyn
